Johannesburg - Soft toilet paper, soccer in Soweto, four ashtrays, four packets of cigarettes and two full-length mirrors in which he can admire himself. But he doesn't want to meet the world's biggest icon, former president Nelson Mandela.
These are the demands of pop music's naughtiest son, Robbie Williams, for his visit to South Africa early in April.
The organisers are desperate about the absurd demands by the singer. A list of places to visit, including an offer to meet Mandela, were earlier sent to the singer. But the list was returned with a note that he was "not happy" with the tour arrangements.
Williams didn't say why he doesn't want to meet Mandela. Artists and other celebrities usually can't wait to be in Mandela's presence, even just for a few minutes.
Robbie, who bought a share in a local soccer club in London last month, wants to play soccer with a South African team. The details are still a secret, as Big Concerts, who will be responsible for the tour refuses to comment.
Alcohol (in capital letters ) tops the list of things Williams does not want. When he left Take That, the singer, one of the highest-paid artists in the world, was still using drugs and alcohol. He is still recovering from alcohol abuse during his "confused years".
Robbie wants a bowl of fruit (water melon, honeydew melon and ordinary melon) in his room, as well as mountains of bottles of mineral water, Diet Coke, pepermint drops and chocolate containing a lot of protein.
He also wants six large rooms - for the members of the band and himself to be used as dressing rooms, another one where they can relax and yet another one for their equipment. The rooms must be equipped with carpets and functioning airconditioning.
It seems as if his band members are going to have a good time. The liquor in their rooms must be "of good quality", and must include white and red wine, Veuve Clicquot champagne and beer.
"Please make sure that the liquor is not mixed with soft drinks," read the list Rapport had a look at. '
