Williams' singing disturbs bats

'British pop star ROBBIE WILLIAMS could be forced to axe two German concert dates after it was revealed the outdoor venue could frighten rare breeds of bat. The ANGELS singer is scheduled to perform in front of 160,000 fans in a field near Cologne this summer (08-09AUG06). But the gigs have been put in jeopardy by local environmental regulations, which prohibit events that threaten the site's flora and fauna. Although officials have already safeguarded the meadow's plantlife, they fear the concerts' volume, and the preparations leading up to them, could scare off the rare Daubenton and Pipistrelle bats which inhabit the area. However, ANNETTE ROETTGEN, a spokesperson for the gigs' organiser Concert Team, insists the dates haven't been written off yet. She promises the company is doing all it can to ensure the bats are not disturbed, even funding a study into the matter. She says, "It is still cheaper then paying damages later. "We will do everything we are asked for, so that the animals will survive the Robbie concerts."
