The 'Let Me Entertain You' singer - who kicks off his 'Close Encounters' tour in Dublin, Ireland, tomorrow night (09.06.06) - admits he is desperate to be in Germany and if he had the chance he would even trade his rock star lifestyle to be a footballer. He was quoted by Britain's Daily Star newspaper as saying: "I just want to make people smile and clap and sing along, but I'd still rather be at the football. If I could choose I'd play football for the masses rather than be a musician, no two ways around it. The World Cup is the ultimate stage, after all." However, despite pining to be at the World Cup, Robbie, 32, admits he is very excited about the Dublin show, which has an 'alien' theme and features crop circles and enactments of alien abductions.

He said: "The set looks unbelievable. I can't believe how excited I am and I really like the songs, which is handy." '
