£6,000 raised for the Stevenage Firefighters’ Fund

ELVIS and Robbie Williams took centre stage to help a pub raise £6,000 for the Stevenage Firefighters' Fund.

The Marquis Of Lorne in Stevenage High Street held the fundraising event at the weekend. There was a headline performance from the Coalhouse Walker Blues Band, supported by Robbie Williams and Elvis impersonators on Saturday. Pete Webb also performed as Elvis on Friday night.

There was a barbecue and raffle prizes were donated from shops around the town, including jewellery and a DVD player.

Buckets were sent round the pub and collections were even taken from drinkers at other pubs along High Street.

"It was a great couple of days," said Ty Spooner, one of the organisers.

"It was heaving. We had a fire engine and speakers outside so you couldn't have missed it."
