Robbie denies rumours he's moving near mum

'It's been a source of speculation among Robbie Williams's fans in the Potteries for a long time but it seems the welcome home banners don't need to be unfurled just yet. Representatives of the Burslem-born pop star have quashed rumours that Robbie will be swapping his millionaire's pad in Los Angeles for a base nearer to his home. According to reports in a national newspaper Robbie is looking for a house in the Cheshire countryside to be nearer to his mum Jan who lives in North Staffordshire.

Sources claimed Robbie wanted to become a "country bumpkin" and had asked his best friend Jonathan Wilkes, who was born in Baddeley Green and frequently comes home to North Staffordshire, to find him a property out in the country. However, the suggestions that Robbie might soon be seen driving through the city on the way to see his mum for Sunday lunch have been dismissed. Bryony Watts, of PR firm Taylor Herring which handles Robbie's publicity, said: "Robbie Williams is not buying a house in Cheshire." Robbie is currently promoting his single Tripping - the first from his new album Intensive Care. The 31-year-old played to 2,000 people at the Astoria in London on Saturday night, when he performed classics such as Angels and Millennium as well as some of his new material. He is reported to have offered to put up fans in a hotel after hearing they had queued for two days to get in to the gig but changed his mind upon being told that there were in fact 200 people waiting for his performance. Robbie will also be staging a gig in Amsterdam on Wednesday before he plays the Velodrom in Berlin on Sunday. His new album Intensive Care will be released on October 24 and the first single, Tripping, was released yesterday.'
