Robbie: I quit my jobbie

Quoted from: http://www.dailystar.co.uk/

'31/08/06
SINGER Robbie Williams has sensationally vowed he is to quit pop. The former Take That heart-throb says he will hang up his microphone in 18 months - in a move that will stun his army of fans. He admits he does not want to be part of the pop "machine" and doesn't see himself singing any more. The £100million singer even admits he has become a "monster". Millions of fans worldwide will be left heartbroken by the bombshell announcement. Experts warn it could even damage his record company EMI, which took a huge gamble when it signed him to a record-breaking £80m contract in 2002. Fans - who have supported the 32-year-old singer tirelessly since he quit the band to go solo a decade ago - were already consoling each other last night. One teenage fan said: "The music industry won't be the same without him. I am devastated - he is king of the charts and he'll always be my number one." A music insider said: "Robbie is unique - a true one of a kind - and there is simply no-one around that can fill his shoes."On the eve of releasing his new single Rudebox, Bob admits he's grown tired of the abomination he says he's become and craves life as a normal man. He said: "I've got to take the view over the next 18 months and see if I want to be part of the machine any more, because I don't see me singing again. It's a question of what I want and where I want to be. Can I live without radio picking my song and putting it on the playlist? Or is this fame thing something I'm addicted to?" The announcement from gobby Stoke-boy Robbie is even more of a surprise as his Close Encounters tour is currently filling stadiums around the world.A thoughtful Robbie - famed for high-octane hits such as Angels, Rock DJ and Let Me Entertain You - hinted he is still struggling with his inner demons, which have plagued him for most of his career. He said darkly: "I don't know where I stand with it all at the moment. Do I take things into my own hands and dismantle this monster and have a nice life?"'

The former Take That singer apparently wants to quit the industry in 18 months because singing turned him into a "monster".
Williams has carved out a hugely successful solo career since leaving the boy band.
In 2002 he signed an £80m deal with record label EMI.
This development comes as the Let Me Entertain You crooner is filling stadiums around the world with his Close Encounters tour.
Robbie, 32, says: "I don't see me singing again. It's a question of what I want and where I want to be.

Walsh: 'I don't want to sleep with Williams'

Quoted from: http://contactmusic.com

'LATEST: Music mogul LOUIS WALSH has rubbished ROBBIE WILLIAMS' claims he wants to sleep with him, but has done little to quell enduring rumours about his sexuality. The pair have been feuding since Walsh began criticising Williams' musical talent. He recently said, "Robbie Williams' voice isn't all that", prompting the former TAKE THAT star to hit back, "I just think Louis wants to manage me and sleep with me, so that must be a problem in his mind." Bachelor Walsh insists he has no interest in the singer, sexually or otherwise, but doesn't deny he is homosexual. He says, "No. Not even if I was on a desert island. I wouldn't want to manage him and I certainly wouldn't want to sleep with him. Robbie has just made this stuff up to try and hurt me, and maybe a couple of years ago it would have done, but not anymore."

Rampant Robbie

Quoted from: http://www.dailystar.co.uk

'RANDY Robbie Williams got a major boost to his ego after we heard TEN groupies entertained him in just two days. Our source reported that the 32-year-old Rock DJ romped with a string of gorgeous fans on his Close Encounters tour in Vienna.
The Robster, right, arranged half-hour stints in his hotel room with the more-than-willing babes.
It was even said that he took just two minutes to bed one teen. An 18-year-old named only as Kathrin revealed she'd been in the lobby of the Trieste Hotel in the Austrian capital with a female pal. When the Robster caught sight of her friend she was invited to his suite. But she was told she had to wait until the next day because he had so many other 'visitors'.
Kathrin said: 'My friend came back the next day and was taken to his room by his manager. 'Robbie was sitting on the bed fully clothed, asked her how she was and even offered her a glass of water. 'Then he kissed her and her clothes were on the floor two minutes later as they were making love. He then took a shower and asked her to leave.' During his concert in the city Robbie chatted to a female fan with a banner saying: 'I'll teach you to yodel for a kiss.' And when he spotted a sign held by two big-chested blondes reading 'threesome with 2 blondes' he reportedly told them: 'I'm staying at the Trieste Hotel.'
Robbie has allegedly bedded dozens of beauties on the five-month tour.
His Viennese whirl smashed his previous record of four babes in a week last month.
Robbie admitted his sex life has improved during the tour. He said: 'My luck seems to have finally changed.' Just a bit mate, just a bit...'

Robbie's graffity lyric puzzles fans

Quoted from: http://www.thisisthesentinel.co.uk

'11:34 - 25 August 2006

He may lead a Hollywood lifestyle, but the title of a track from his new album shows Robbie Williams hasn't lost touch with his Potteries roots. The problem is, not even people from his home town know what the Burslem-born singer's latest effort is referring to.Robbie's eighth album Rudebox - due for release in October - features the track Burslem Normals, described by the star's own website as "an incredible, strung out and personal electronic ballad."
The former pupil at St Margaret Ward High, Tunstall, revealed on his website how he saw the phrase Burslem Normals scrawled on a wall in the town during his youth.
He said: "The song is about an ideal of youth."It is about how in the 80s and the early 90s there were so many avenues to explore and so many gangs to be a part of."
Back then we had so much choice and the Burslem Normals was a piece of graffiti from the town I was born in. I don't know what they were into, but they sound cool."
The identity of the group is now shrouded in mystery, with a variety of authorities in Burslem unable to shed any light on who they were.
One theory is that they were a less well-known Port Vale hooligan firm in the mould of the notorious Smallthorne Clampetts and Vale Lunatic Fringe.
But former Clampetts leader Jim Ford - who is now a pastor at the Penkhull Christian Fellowship - says he doesn't remember any group by that name.
He said: "I knew a number of people that were lads around that era but I don't think they had a name. They were from Burslem though, and some still get down there."Club historian Jeff Kent and statistician Phil Sherwin are similarly unaware of the Burslem Normals.Phil Sherwin said: "There is nothing definite but it sounds like a gang of people who used to go down the Vale."I have heard the phrase but there is nothing concrete."
If it was when Robbie Williams was growing up it would have been in the 80s when things were a bit rougher."
Jeff Kent said: "I have been a Port Vale fan all my life and I have never heard of the Burslem Normals."
Robbie's new album is set to hit the shelves on October 23, and is set to mark a radical musical departure for the singer.
It features several songs - including title track and new single Rudebox - produced by Stoke-on-Trent's own Danny Spencer and Kelvin Andrews, also known as Soul Mekanik. And the 32-year-old said the lyrics to the new single were heavily influenced by the city where he grew up.
He said: "Danny and Kelvin sent me the very basic drum track and it just became a floor shaker with lyrics straight out of Stoke-on-Trent."He added: "I've always been scared to try out different things and this album I think I've lost the fear of where I should be in my head as a populist."Were you one of the Burslem Normals, or do you know who they were?

Your Views

The Burslem Normals were a small underground group who later developed in to The Special Needs Crew, who have strong links with other subversive fan groups across the UK and Europe.

You're a Rob-ster, Williams

Quoted from: http://www.mirror.co.uk

'Eva Simpson & Caroline Hedley

ROBBIE Williams is set for a legal battle with Rod Stewart's stepson Ashley Hamilton over claims that The Robster nicked a song they'd worked on together for his forthcoming album.
Ashley - whose mum Alana was Rod's first wife - says he and Robbie came up with the idea for the track She's Madonna, which is on Robbie's new album, Rudebox.
The 31-year-old songwriter alleges that Robbie eventually took the track to charttoppers Pet Shop Boys to finish - although they won't have known of Ashley's claim to have been involved in the song.
But when he challenged Robbie about it, he claims he was told: "Go and f*** yourself!" Now Ashley has called in Dean & Dean Solicitors to fight the case.
He is demanding to get the credit, as well as the money he claims is owed to him - or he will take the pop star to court.
It's not the first time that Robbie has faced legal wrangling over songs.
In February 2002 he was found guilty of plagiarising a Loudon Wainwright version of Woody Guthrie's song I Am The Way for his own Jesus In A Camper Van track.
He was ordered to remove it from future copies of his album I've Been Expecting You and to pay £50,000 in royalties.
Ashley, who helped pen Robbie's hit Come Undone, told us angrily: "We came up with this idea over coffee one afternoon.
"Robbie said he had an idea for a song about some girl he used to date, Tania Strecker, and how she was dumped by Guy Ritchie for Madonna.
"That was a slimey thing to do, so I said, 'Why don't we make a joke song about it?' That's how it started. We worked on the lyrics together at home and at the studio. "The next thing I know, a producer's ringing me up to say congratulations for getting my song on Robbie's record. I just said: 'I don't know what you're talking about!'
"I was shocked. When you start working with someone, or you start an idea with someone, you're legally entitled to a share of the publishing.
"I have the demos of that tape and will see him in court if I have to. The money can all go to charity, I just want him to be a man and do the right thing."
Ashley, who lives in LA and is the halfbrother of Kimberly and Sean Stewart, says that when his manager tried to contact Robbie's people, the singer himself came to the phone and "went ballistic".
Robbie, 32, claims he wrote the track after seeing Madonna at the MTV Europe awards last year.
But Ashley says they came up with it about three years ago. He said: "He called me a c*** and told me that I should go and f*** myself.
"He said that he would pull the track off the album. If he wants to do that, then that's up to him."
Ashley, who befriended Robbie when he first moved to LA, added: "It's not like the guy's hurtin' for dough. Who knows, maybe he needs it for an extra bag of fish and chips."
A spokesperson for Robbie was unavailable for comment last night.'

The FEEL singer forged a short-lived friendship with Oasis - fronted by brothers NOEL and LIAM GALLAGHER - in the mid-90s. However, he has since publicly fallen out with the band. Williams says, "I'm not their kind of person. I'm the old-time musical, I'm the end of the pier, I'm NORMAN WISDOM, I'm big show tunes. I'm everything they detest. "I'm a huge fan of Oasis - of what they were anyway - and what they meant to me. They were very important in my life."

Robbie Williams' 'Rudebox' Inspired By PJ & Duncan

TV presenter Ant & Dec are set to appear in the new Robbie Williams video.Robbie is said to be desperate for the Geordie boys to feature in the new video for his cover of the Human League song 'Louise'. He is hoping that Ant & Dec will appear as the schoolboys that were so popular in their SMTV sketches years ago. A source said: 'It's Robbie's idea that the video be set in a school - with him, Ant, Dec and also his mate Jonathan Wilkes dressed up as school boys.' Robbie is big friends with the Geordie lads and admits that his new track 'Rudebox' was inspired by hits from PJ & Duncan - as Ant & Dec were previously known, and his rapping style on the new single attempts to emulate hit's like 'Let's Get Ready To Rumble'. He said: 'I have always wanted to be a rapper. I've always been jealous of rappers because of how comfy they are and how cool they look. I want to be a rapper - but the world won't let me.'

Williams: 'Walsh wants to bed me'

Walsh, who has guided the careers of BOYZONE and WESTLIFE, claimed in a recent interview, "Robbie Williams' voice isn't all that." But the ANGELS hitmaker is convinced the jibe sprung from sexual frustration: "I just think Louis wants to manage me and sleep with me, so that must be a problem in his mind. "Louis has started slagging me off all the time. I didn't have any history with him so I don't know why he's doing it. Robbie Williams - Rudebox - Album

Quoted from: http://www.dancefrontdoor.co.uk/

'August 21, 2006

Robbie Williams will release his highly anticipated and much talked about new album 'Rudebox' on October 23rd on EMI Records.
'Rudebox', recorded during the early months of 2006 see's RW collaborating with an array of musical mavericks including his heroes The Pet Shop Boys, King of ambient William Orbit, fellow Stoke natives Danny Spencer & Kelvin Andrews AKA Soul Mekanik, disco-house icon Joey Negro and NYC-based DJ cum-Über producer Mark Ronson, on both new original compositions and covers of some of his favourite tracks by artists as diverse as Manu Chao, The Human League, My Robot Friend, Lewis Taylor and old friend Stephen Duffy, that through its 16 tracks 'Rudebox' marks out and charts his musical loves and life.
Led off by the title track and first single 'Rudebox', a nasty, dirty, bass infused electro-funk-pop monster, twisted around his own unique visceral lyrical stylings, the result is the sound of our Rob jamming the electro-boogaloo on a bustling New York street corner in 1983. 'Viva Life On Mars' is the world's country-space-funk-Technicolor-pop anthem. 'She's Madonna' see's Neil Tennant, Chris Lowe & RW forming their super-group and paying lovelorn homage to the first lady of pop, they also cover their Pet Shop Boys cover of My Robot Friend's 'We're The Pet Shop Boys', as we all know an imitation of an imitation is the very highest form of flattery.
Mark Ronson brings his trademark horn-infused modern soul revue to four tracks on the album. 'Lovelight', a spectacular cover of Lewis Taylor's criminally unknown soul-anthem, takes it from its warm soul roots, and transforms it into a building euphoric disco anthem featuring a full-on falsetto vocal performance that ranks amongst his most dynamic to date. 'Good Doctor' complete with its hip-hop shuffle is a full on barroom-romp-cum-block party-jam set to a tongue in-cheek pharmaceutical theme. 'King Of The Bongo' reinvents Manu Chao's classic world-music original for a more decadent and debauched 2006, Whilst 'Keep On' (incidentally for fact fans - co-written once again with Stephen Duffy) is probably the most bombastic Robbie song ever, bustling with percussion, funk guitar licks, and exorcising the spirit of '89 and Baggy. He is also joined here and for 'King Of The Bongo' on BV's by the inimitable whirlwind that is Lily Allen.
'The Actor' is a stomping Germanic electro-pop anthem that fits equally as well on dancefloors, as it does lamenting Hollywood flunkeys whilst 'Kiss Me' takes Stephen Duffy's 80's classic and re-invents it as a Hi-energy electro pop anthem. Fulfilling a long-time ambition of a collaboration he joins forces with ambient legend William Orbit in recording two tracks here, 'Summertime', a fuzzy euphoric Balearic anthem that was actually one of the first songs he wrote when he went solo 10 years ago and an emotive and faithful cover of the Human League's 'Louise'. 'Louise' of course has been long documented as one of his favourite songs, and a muse in the construction of last years 'Intensive Care' album (which has now sold in excess of 6.5 million copies worldwide.)
Inspired by The Mitchell Brothers, Ian Dury and Mike Skinner and their rolling Prowse and recorded into an I-book in Rob's bedroom in LA, 'The 80's' & 'The 90's', see him joined by long-term bass player Jerry Meehan to document 15 years of his life in song. 'The 80's' bounces along on to a braggadier's swagger that tips at a hat to the glorious days of early LL cool J, Eazy E, Flavor Flav in his own poetic biographical comfy-rap monologue. 'The 90's' documents the Take That years in a frank, personal and open display of sonic-catharsis over an uptempo pop classic. It's a powerful and reflective moment, and perhaps not the frenzied bitch fest that some might have liked.
His rekindled song-writing relationship with Stoke's other finest musical exports Danny Spencer & Kelvin Andrews, who back in the day contributed to the writing of 'Rock DJ', continues here. Alongside 'Rudebox' and 'Viva Life On Mars', 'Never Touch That Switch' conjures up images of 80's electro dancing, breakdancing and days gone by, the final track of their four 'Burslem Normals' is an incredible strung out and personal electronic ballad. This is RW stripped down to his barest vocally and musically.
'Rudebox' already the subject of much speculation, ('the dance album'//'the rap album' // 'the Christian rock album' yada yada yada and not the two fingers to his catalogue as some might suggest!!) see's RW on a musical journey of sorts, imbibed with a real sense of fun. Lyrically it is very broad; humorous, historical, honest and revealing, a rollercoaster that takes you from introverted to extravagant, the break up to the make up. This is perhaps the most definitive Robbie Williams opus to date, ten years down the line into his solo career, as his truest personal and musical inspirations collide to create an intimate and explorative sound that will surprise some, but after eight albums, this here is the sound of Robert Peter Williams, born 1974 in Stoke On Trent, UK.
People who approach this record with the pre-conceived notion that 'Robbie's gone dance,' will be very surprised by 'Rudebox'- it is an incredibly assured electronic record, as much if not more influenced by hip hop, soul, p-funk, indie, baggy, acid house, early 80's electro house, and classic pop music as it is by contemporary 'dance' music. The sound is unmistakably fresh, yet unmistakably Robbie Williams! It could be no other. Fear not, this is pop, but not as we know it...
'They might say its 'dance' or it's 'electro' but it's just what I like! It started off as a busman's holiday this time around, but it's become something on which I've found myself. I was just doing my YTS up till now,' he adds. 'It has become something on which I've found myself. This is the right direction for me personally, this is what it is. I saw the whole Robbie thing coming to a close as it was, I couldn't make another album like the ones I'd made, and this has just opened up a thousand other doors. What I am excited about now is making more music. I love all the stuff on the album, I love Rudebox, it's a favourite song of mine. I don't know what's gonna happen now, I'm excited about getting it out there, but I'm more excited about making more.' 'Rudebox' is far from the end of Robbie Williams as we know it, but more a re-adjustment, a smile and a nod to the future.
RW is in the midst of his record-breaking 'Close Encounters' World tour, which hits the UK in September.

Robbie Williams - Rudebox - A Tack By Track Guide

Quoted from: http://www.dancefrontdoor.co.uk/

'August 21, 2006

'It wasn't till I was in the studio the other day listening to a few of the tracks back, I was with the Soul Mekanik boys and the thought hit me... Do songs like the ones you like, I'm eight albums in, why didn't I think of this before. Doh! I've just been scared to make this record before I think.
My solo career started when the Britpop explosion did, and I thought, try and make songs that sound like that, but this is now... I'm 32 years old, eight albums in, and this is the record I've always wanted to make. It's the start for me. It's reignited how I think about what I can do with music myself. I've always been scared to try out different things and this album I think I've lost the fear of where I should be in my head as a populist, as a populist artist, and it means I can just go and do wonky pop now, which is all I really wanted to do anyway.
It has become something on which I've found myself. This is the right direction for me personally, this is what it is. I saw the whole Robbie thing coming to a close, I couldn't make another album like the ones I'd made, and this has just opened up a thousand other doors. What I am excited about now is making more music. I love all the stuff on the album, I love Rudebox, it's a favourite song of mine. I don't know what's gonna happen now, I'm excited about getting it out there, but I'm more excited about making more.

Robbie Williams - August 2006

Rudebox
Danny & Kelvin (aka Soul Mekanik) sent me the very basic drum track and it just became a floor shaker with lyrics straight outta Stoke on Trent. My heads been in some strange places and taken some strange exit turns since I was 16. When we get in the studio we gel and we know where we are going, we get excited when it's right. I think I'm/we're onto something. I just think the synchronicity of where we come from and how we are as people adds its own certain chemistry in the studio. It's a bit strange to be playing this live at the moment cos no one knows it and the venues are massive and playing something so leftfield can be quite daunting, it is something I haven't done on any other tour (played something no one knows) usually I am a big fan of give them what they want. This time I decided it is a case of give them what they don't know they want yet.

Viva Life On Mars
For me it is doing away with all I have been taught and instead of investing my faith in a Catholic religion, I decided that the fantasies on the internet are more interesting than the fantasies at the pulpit. I see it as 'Oh Brother Where Art Thou', meets Primal Scream when they were good; there has been 3 World Cups since then. Is this my first ever hoe down? A few hoes have bought me down before...

Lovelight
I wouldn't have known about Lovelight if it hadn't have been for Tom Middleton's 'The Trip' album - he put it on there, and I fell in love with it instantly... I can't believe how big that song is and no one knows it. It is amazing to work with a white boy with a ghetto pass like Mark Ronson. He is on the cutting edge of all that is good out there and still manages to love pop. I feel honoured to work with somebody that puts cynicism aside in favour of the truth. I was concerned about singing that vocal, because its full on falsetto all the way through it and I'd only ever done that on the chorus of a track called 'Tripping' that I did a couple of years ago. I knew that Lewis Taylor had done such a great vocal that it would be really hard to replicate but I think I did good singing...

King Of The Bongo
I didn't pick this song, It picked me... 'King Of The Bongo' was played to me by a couple of friends of mine six years ago, and I always thought 'I've got to cover this..' and now was the right time. 'King Of The Bongo' to me is like an unwritten Disney Film. How did Lily Allen end up on here? I knew about her as I had met her at the studio. The Lily Allen Phenomenon is not solely contained to the UK she seems to be doing well everywhere... good on her too.

She's Madonna
My life seems to be like a never ending edition of Jim'll fix it. I am truly blessed. The odds of Robbie Williams making a ninth album ten years ago would have been more than long against. To be writing this album and having my heroes work with me feels phenomenal. I played Tour De France by Kraftwerk and said 'I like this, Can we do something like this, but not much like this,' but then everything else came together pretty quickly. In case anyone asks... There is nothing tongue in cheek about this song at all, I have always fancied Madonna. I'd have hoped for it to be this good, but you can never tell before venturing into the studio. It is just a bonus that it worked out so well

Keep On
There were 3 things I taped off the TV that I used to watch on repeat when I was a kid- Prince's Alphabet St Tour, Public Enemy @ Brixton and The Happy Mondays at G Mex. I suppose I was interested in the Happy Mondays because they looked like psychedelic next door neighbours with faces and attitude that I understood. Little did we all know that in 2006 we would still be chasing 1989? I can't remember lyrics at the best of times, there are so many in this so I doubt I will ever do it live. It is about choosing a different kind of life and believing in the boogie and all it brings.

Good Doctor
Originally we had a sample from the 'Return of Django' by the Upsetters, but we got rid of that, but we could always do that later. Sorry The Upsetters... It came from trying to bend the rules of a sober life, I am 32 and am still trying to look for a short cut, there isn't one. Is it hard to rhyme all those medical terms? No but it is hard to find a perfect balance

The Actor
Partly written on Oscars Night, 'The Actor' is about living in LA, and how it has given me little respect for the acting profession. I don't see this as a dance song at all; I see it as a story over Germanic electro pop.

Never Touch That Switch
The first records I bought were electro records and I never thought in a million years it would be something Robbie Williams could do. It only struck me in the studio as we were recording. Although I didn't write this one it just reminded me of pre-narcotics and pro-stealing your mums' lino. What does it mean? I don't know, it is in the eye of the beholder. To me 'Never Touch That Switch' is all about never opening your system to the mood altering experience... you don't know what it can do to you.

Louise
When I was writing and recording Intensive Care with Stephen Duffy, 'Louise' by the Human League kept on being the centre point on what I wanted to achieve with the record. With Louise I remember when it first came out, and then I didn't listen to it for ages until the middle of the 90's. When I heard it again, it kind of broke my heart thinking of a period of time I had back when... I wanted to make an album that would hopefully break a few hearts in 10/15 years time. Louise was the template for the Intensive Care album, so it seemed the natural next step to play homage to it and I think we've done a good version of it. I'd always wanted to work with William Orbit, I love my ambient melancholy.

We're The Pet Shop Boys
I just love the fact that the Pet Shop Boys covered it, it is not one of their songs and I love the irony of me covering a cover. Above all that the romance for me in this song is paramount. Did I feel like a Pet Shop Boy when I was recording it? Yes absolutely (said with a big smile). Chris Heath (The person who co-wrote 'Feel' my autobiography with me) played it to me and I fell in love with it. I must say when I've listened to it back and when I get a chance to sing it, the 'What have I, What have I, What have I done to deserve this' bit sends shivers down my spine, everytime it comes up. It's a sense of history, yours and mine and those particular lyrics really affect me. It's an honour to do it. I love the Pet Shop Boys and I was pleased to learn that amongst pop genii I can hold my own.

Burslem Normals
It is about an ideal of youth; It is about how in the 80's and the early 90's there were so many avenues to explore and so many gangs to be a part of. Youth Culture these days depressingly seems just about the Chav. Back then we had so much choice and the Burslem Normals was a piece of graffiti from the town I was born in, I don't know what they were into, but they sound cool as fuck.
I have always liked what I like and it has always been varied and fortunately I find myself find a position where I do not have to pigeon hole myself. The sentiment in this song is the same as the sentiment in the song 'Heaven From Here' but wonkier.

Kiss Me
Stephen Duffy plays like he hates it; I wanted to do it as I wanted him to see how good the track is. Also when this track came out in 1981, something nice must have been happening to me at the time, because it makes me feel full of hope. Youth's yearning for life and love and all of that. Does he like it? I don't know, I daren't ask him. Ok, so I just asked him, and yes he does.

80s
I was obsessed by a track by the Mitchell Brothers called 'Routine Check' and also a big fan of Mike Skinner of The Streets and what he does over records, be it rapping or poetry. Its very similar to Ian Dury's stuff to me, Im also a big fan of his, he was the first white British rapper. I've always always wanted to be a rapper, I've always been jealous of rappers because of how comfy they are and how cool they look, they've always got a tracksuit on and trainers and I have to dress up cos Im a popstar... I want to be a rapper but the world won't let me. The only reason I have craved my own niche is because it is not that easy. I love words and will continue to use them. It is bitter sweet about a decade where I formed an opinion, I was wrong.

90s
The 90s on the other hand was, originally going to have a sample from one of my top 5 favourite songs... Wichita Lineman in it. I didn't like it at first, but I came around to it and did some poetry on it, some comfy rapping, with very English storytelling like a modern Roald Dahl but fatter! The 90's then on became the 90's after we took the sample out. I look back at it now with a fondness in my heart. I think they are just two nice bookends; 'The 80s' - up until I'd left school, lost my virginity, done all kinds. Then there was the whole Take That story to tell which was 'The 90's'. It's weird now, I've spunked all the best material so I'll have to do something drastic so that we have some source material for the next one.

Summertime
When it was originally written it was one of the first, if not the first songs I wrote when I came out of Take That and the feel of the song is a complete juxtapose of how I was at the time. When I wrote 'Summertime', which is a very euphoric, up song I don't think I could have been anymore depressed, deluded, lost. I remember I went down to London in a pair of Vivian Westwood tartan bondage trousers, a pair of black Patrick Cox and a lovely white Vivian Westwood shirt... I was skinny as, a right proper raver and I moved in with a lady on new years night, and by February I was just fat! fat and horrible and lost, all over the place. That was when I met up with Ant Genn and we wrote the song together, Ant was my indie enfant terrible; I adored him cos he was cool as fuck and Northern and funny, I wanted to be him, but drugs took their tole on both of us. At least I have a lasting memory of an amazing yet catastrophic summer, plus I love the fact that little bunnies freeze in the snow.

Dickhead (Bonus Track)
Dickhead was definitely leant from the Mitchell Brothers, so they are to blame for this whole thing. Conversely amongst my friends, Dickhead is the biggest compliment that can be paid, if I call you a Dickhead I like you, but it means the reverse on this record. Life sometimes seems to be a Krypton factor course of idiots, unfortunately idiots speak the loudest. This song is for everyone that thinks I am a Dickhead, I am just reciprocating, the feeling is mutual.'

Williams berates reality shows

Quoted from: http://contactmusic.com

'British pop star ROBBIE WILLIAMS has hit out at reality television shows for manipulating people with mental health problems. The FEEL singer enjoys watching programmes like AMERICAL IDOL and THE X FACTOR, which features wannabe singers, but feels that other reality hits are simply exploiting vulnerable people for entertainment value. Williams is particularly disturbed by British show LOVE ISLAND, which features single celebrities trying to find love on a Fijian paradise isle. Williams says: "I'll watch any old s***, but I refused to watch BIG BROTHER this year because it's like looking at mental patients. "Same with Love Island - it's human beings having nervous breakdowns in front of the whole nation. Some things should be kept at home. "If you had put me in Love Island after I'd just left TAKE THAT, then I would have been f**ked - I'd be crying all the time too."

The singer has dated sexy celebrities GERI HALLIWELL, RACHEL HUNTER and NICOLE APPLETON, but wants to stay single so he can make the most of his popularity with the opposite sex. The 32-year-old, who quit alcohol five years ago after undergoing rehab, says, "For the first two or three years of my sobriety I was desperate to be in a relationship because I thought it would fix me. 'ROBBIE WILLIAMS has defended pop pal GEORGE MICHAEL after the singer was caught at a notorious gay 'cruising' spot, insisting he'd do the same if he could get casual sex so easily. Michael was exposed by a British newspaper, which caught him enjoying a late night encounter with a male stranger at Hampstead Heath, near his north London home. But Williams sympathises, saying, "If there was a wood near my house full of women who wanted sex then I'd find it difficult not to go there."

Williams: 'Soccer saves me from drug hell'

Quoted from: http://contactmusic.com/

'Pop star ROBBIE WILLIAMS credits his love of soccer with saving him from a life of drug addiction. Although the singer has been sober for more than five years after battling alcoholism, he admits he is heavily addicted to chocolate and coffee and occasionally takes recreational drugs. But he insists he would spiral out of control if he didn't need to keep fit to play sport. He says, "I'm addicted to everything. I drink far too much coffee. I'm never asleep before 4 or 5am - and ten o'clock in the morning is like the middle of the night for me. "I straddle the line between f**king 'Sport Billy' who loves getting up in the morning and attacking my day with gusto, playing football and being fit, and then there's the half of me that just wants to be somewhere else in my head. "I'm cut between a druggie and a professional athlete. I hate drugs. I love drugs. "I can honestly say that I don't take too many prescription drugs. And you can easily get into the too many sleeping tablets thing. But I love football - and sleeping tablets don't mix with it."

'BILD' figured it all out

German paper 'BILD' has it all figured out. According to them, Robbie orders for himself before a concert the following: a mixed melonplate, 10 carrots, 4 apples and 1 lemon. On top of that he likes to have an eggwhite-bar, mint chewing-gum, and energydrinks (Red Bull and Red Bull and Purdey's). He also wants some fluff-free towels, toiletseats, airfreshener and some soaps. The BILD also claims to have discovered that he also had 5 sellery stems, beets, Balsamico and ginger on his list. They wonder what the ginger is for, and all they apparently could find on Google was that it can be used as an aphrodisiac. They made a very artistic compilation of the ingredients:

Robbie in Vienna (info, pics, video)

Snippet translated from: http://oe3.orf.at/

'On Wednesday evening Robbie Williams' management booked the sceneroom 'Motto'. The crew wanted to celebrate the birthday of the tourmanager and the succesful ending of the video recordings. This didn't go through because the recordings took longer than planned. Part of the video presumably was recorded in Land, in Niederosterreich, where the crew then stayed and celebrated. Presumably. With Robbie? According to an informant Robbie was at the hotel in the evening. At 23:30 he appeared freshly showered in a black tracksuit in the Hotel-bar, went up to his room, came back and then went to sleep against 2:00 - alone.'

Allen reveals Williams' star treatment

'British chart sensation LILY ALLEN was amazed when she collaborated with ROBBIE WILLIAMS, because the ANGELS hitmaker has an employee to sweeten his hot drinks. The SMILE singer has collaborated with Williams on a number of songs produced by MARK RONSON and was surprised by how down-to-earth he is - except for his one extravagance. Manager of Robbie Williams talks about the moneyhunt of the German media

Source: http://www.presseportal.de

The manager of Robbie Williams, David Enthoven, talks about the German media who are boycotting the tour of the artist: 'They have picked out Robbie because he is so succesful in Germany. They want online-rights, they want to sell the pictures where, when and to whom they want. It involves a lot of money. What I'm concerned they may still be used in ten years from now. The issue is that they should be used in the correct context, with the concert they belong to. They should not appear in ten years in articles that reports about another affair of Robbie Williams, or be printed on illegal merchandise.'
The tour of Robbie Williams is going nicely according to his manager: 'We've had a fantastic time! Believe me: we could have slept better without all those girls outside the hotel.'

The security only allowed invited people in. 'Nobody tells us anything', one securityguard said. Another guard said an advertisement for a chocolate factory was taped.
Security will be present into the night at the Semper Depot. According to one of the stageworkers work will continue on Wednesday. In the beginning of the afternoon Robbie was not spotted yet and neither were the fans. Only a man on a bike was watching.

Exclusive: Robbie tour fear

Quoted from: http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk

'Exclusive Singer was scared by five months on the road
Beverley Lyons

ROBBIE Williams claims he was worried about the length of his current Close Encounters tour... in case he found it too hard to keep up the pace.
The singer, who has gigged for seven weeks of his five-month 2006 tour, said: "I've only toured for, at the most, one month at a time when I was in Take That and in my solo career.
"This tour's five months and I was very concerned that I wasn't going to get through it or that something would happen.
"I got very scared of the length.
"But it's easy. I've done two months and I'm still here - two arms, two legs. I've still got a voice. I'm good."
Robbie, who plays Hampden Park in Glasgow on September 1 and 2, said that everything on the tour has been going really well.
"I can't believe how fast it is actually getting from one gig to another," he added.
So far he's played arenas in Dublin, Brussels, Paris and Amsterdam, and he reckons one of his highlights was in the San Siro Stadium in Milan.
He said: "Italy had just won the World Cup when I got on stage in this huge stadium that looked like the Death Star from Star Wars on the outside. The San Siro Stadium just carries on forever and the crowd just doesn't stop.
"And it was like I'd been invited to their party because they'd won the World Cup."
He also found his first night in Munich more of a pleasure than a chore.
"I don't know why it was," he said. "I think it was because the weather wasn't so hot.
"Everywhere else we've been has been really, really hot.
"But the first night in Munich it threatened to rain and I think that just gives the crowd more energy because the sun is sapping for me and the crowd.
"I think I performed the best on the first night, the best I have performed this year.
"I hope the people who were at that concert that night agree with me."
Robbie says he can't wait to visit River Plate Stadium in Argentina and the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City.
"I'm looking forward to doing that," he said.
"And that's South America. That's thousands of miles away from Stokeon- Trent. Why are they buying tickets, you know?"
Although Robbie has been enjoying playing songs such as Sin Sin Sin, Come Undone, Feel and Angels in his sci-fi themed concerts, he reckons he's not had as many laughs on tour this time round.
He admitted: "There's not a lot of shenanigans, really. My best friend on tour would be Johnny and we wind people up.
"There's been no tricks or anything.
"It's difficult to say whether there's been shenanigans because I'm either in my hotel room or I'm at the venue."
Robbie believes he owes it to his fans to be on top form, so he's been keeping out of nightclubs.
He said: "You know I can't go out really and sometimes I can't even go to the hotel bar. So there's not been a lot of shenanigans. There's just been a lot of 'let's watch this movie' or 'let's do a quiz'.
"Because 1.6. million or 2.8 million people have turned up and bought the tickets, I've got to turn up and give them a good show.
"It's scary."
And you can hear Robbie's concert in Vienna live on radio. Emap Radio Events, the Glasgow-based team which runs the Up Close gigs and the Live + Loud pop festival, is behind one of the biggest radio events in years.
On Saturday, Emap stations across Scotland - Clyde 1, Forth One, Tay FM, NorthSound 1, MFR, West FM and Radio Borders - join an exclusive network of radio stations across Europe, Africa, Australia and the Middle East to broadcast two hours of Robbie's concert live from the Ernst Happel Stadium in the Austrian capital.
The concert broadcast will be produced for the entire network by Radio Clyde engineering supremo Gary Lovatt from a state-ofthe- art outside broadcast truck backstage.'

Williams: 'Fame restricts my tour partying

Quoted from: http://contactmusic.com

'Pop superstar ROBBIE WILLIAMS has had few opportunities to misbehave on his current tour, because his fame restricts him to partying inside his hotel room. The British singer would love to see more of the various cities he visits on his Close Encounters tour, but has had to live like a hermit for fear of being mobbed. He says, "It's difficult to say whether there's been shenanigans because I'm either in my hotel room or I'm at the venue. "You know I can't go out really and sometimes I can't even go to the hotel bar. So there's not been a lot of shenanigans. There's just been a lot of 'Let's watch this movie' or 'Let's do a quiz'."

Robbie records a video in Vienna

Source: http://oe3.orf.at
With thanks to Fans Supreme

Eventhough his concerts will not happen until Friday and Saturday, Robbie Williams will arive late this afternoon at Wien-Schwechat airport. The reason: Robbie will record a video in Vienna! The dancers are already in the country and practising. The director is already present since Sunday. The video will be recorded on Tuesday and Wednesday, but the location is still a well kept secret. Which song it concerns is also unknown.
O3 will broadcast the second concert on 19th August live. This concert will also be taped on DVD and will come out around Christmas.
Rumours go that Robbie and the band will visit club U4 on Wednesday evening.
Several Vienna hotels prepare themselves for the stay of Robbie Williams, amongst which the Triest hotel, where Robbie has stayed before. On the wishlist are: pooltable, flipper, tablefootball table and some game consoles.
There also has been arranged a secret meeting with the Toten Hosen (Dead Trousers) for a friendly match.

In Cologne-Bickendorf in Tonstudio 301 the superstar secretly recorded music. To raise suspect as little as possible, he did not drive there with the limousine as usual, but in a small white Kombi.
Reportedly he recorded songs for the next album of favorite songs from other artists. The album should be on the shelves as soon as September. Therefore the time-pressure is ofcourse very big.

Priyanka Chopra to sing with Robbie Williams?

Quoted from: http://www.radiosargam.com

'Priyanka Chopra loves singing and is planning her own music album.

"I am fond of singing. A lot of people have approached me to sing in my films, but I have still not done it. I have grown up with music in my house and I am scared that if I don't sing well, it will get very stressful. But someday it think I would want to release my private album," she says.
Considering that Virgin Records is trying to get Robbie Williams sing with a "sexy" Indian female singer, Piggy Chops is top on their list, though her father is trying hard for himself.

Robbie Williams and Gary Barlow to go head to head

Quoted from: http://www.entertainmentwise.com

'By: Lowri Williams on 8/13/2006

Popstar Robbie Williams is said to be gutted after finding out that his former band mate, Gary Barlow will be competing directly against him in a forthcoming celebrity golf tournament.
The tournament, hosted by Ant and Dec, is to be shown on ITV later this month and Robbie has taken time out from his current 'Close Encounters' European tour.
A source told the Daily Star: 'Robbie is miffed that Ant and Dec didn't tell him themselves. He and Gary are still very awkward around each other.'
Isn’t it time these two buried the hatchet once and for all?'

To be Blunt, Katie'e eye on us

Quoted from: http://www.sundaylife.co.uk

'By John McGurk13 August 2006
Ulster songbird Katie Melua is aiming to emulate James Blunt's Stateside chart success.
For the Belfast educated singer/songwriter has the notoriously hard-to-crack American market in her sights - after posh English pop star Blunt recently hit the top of the US charts with You're Beautiful.
Katie, who celebrates her 22nd birthday next month, has just completed a series of major US arena dates with the Simon Cowell-devised opera pop outfit, Il Divo.
The beautiful former Belfast schoolgirl earned standing ovations at those shows, as well as at a prestige sold-out date at BB King's Blues Club & Grill in New York.
Georgian-born Katie has notched up massive sales in Europe with her albums Call Off The Search and Piece By Piece.
But, with two UK chart topping sets under her belt, Melua wants to conquer American hearts with her quiet, heartfelt mix of jazz, folk and blues.
Melua's mentor, Mike Batt, has spent the last three months in New York, spending an estimated $$1 million - in a bid to avoid repeating Robbie Williams reputation as an American 'flop star'
An optimistic Batt told The Guardian newspaper: "If another person says 'Robbie Williams' to me, I'll hit them. I'll scream.
"It's become a thing for Americans to say, just to knock you down a peg or two. But for every Robbie Williams there's a James Blunt'."
Added Melua's record label boss, manager and sometime-songwriter: "There is every chance it will happen this time.
"But if it doesn't, we will be back. Relentlessness is the key."
And the beautiful Melua herself has nothing but songs of praise for Batt's ambitious US battle plan.
Said Katie: "Mike definitely has a controlling streak in him. But so do I, and I don't mind having a perfectionist working with me because I am the same way."
"It's quite exciting to be introducing my music to people who haven't heard it before, because in England there's an attitude of 'so, what are you going to do next?' There's a bit of pessimism that you can feel. But over here it's completely fresh. It's like going back in time."
In the meantime, Melua is gearing herself up for the release of a new UK single, It's Only Pain, on September 11.'

Selling our soul for rock'n'roll?

Quoted from: http://entertainment.timesonline.co.uk/

'Or was it T-shirts, asks Adam Sherwin
Our summer colours are peach, muted greens and blues,' declares Keith Drinkwater, fashion guru to music's glitterati, who has come a long way since flogging Status Quo T-shirts out of the back of his van.
It may sound like a preview of the latest Whistles collection, but Drinkwater is outlining the apparel opportunities awaiting the Robbie Williams fan at his summer tour.
Drinkwater is the co-founder of Bravado, Britain's biggest music merchandising operation, which creates bespoke licensing opportunities (that's T-shirts to you and me ) for artists ranging from Iron Maiden to Morrissey and James Blunt.
Merchandising is a £1 billion global business and a pension plan for touring artists whose loyal live fanbase no longer translates into multimillion album sales. The Rolling Stones expect to make £30 million during their current world tour from lighters, handbags, and diamante T-shirts all emblazoned with the famous lascivious lips logo.
But the days when a band could press up a grainy image on to a black one-wash, shrinks-all piece of cotton and rake in the profits are over. These days artists take longer approving their clothing lines than final mixes of a new album. Getting an artist-branded range into a high- street chain means never having to dump those unsold shirts.
'We began planning Robbie's tour range at the 2005 spring and summer collections,' Drinkwater reveals. The Bravado team scoured Berlin's Bread and Butter fair, populated by hip young designers, for inspiration.'
The star's live audience is skewed towards professional women, aged 25 to 40, who might sweep around Topshop and Miss Selfridge once a week, and so the range is targeted at this group. Bravado established that the 'dark, washed-out' look would dominate this summer and the Robbie Williams Milton Keynes Collection of fitted muted blue shirts and zip-up tops is the result.
Like most leading artists, Williams personally approves every line brandishing his name. With fans willing to pay £25 for a top, the quality has to match the high street.
It is an industry in which record companies are seeking to secure a stake. Artists can take a 50 per cent slice of merchandise income, far higher than their royalties. But EMI's £60 million Robbie deal gave the label a cut of his merchandising, too.
Yet how many Iron Maiden T-shirts does the average metal-head need? Bravado, which enjoys a £70 million turnover, ensures that concert- goers take home items of memorabilia which are exclusive to that event. 'Heavy metal fans are the most loyal customers,' Drinkwater says. 'Iron Maiden fans want a T-shirt that says 'I was there' even if they've seen the band lots of times.' Bruce Dickinson's rockers have turned over
£25 million of merchandise during their career. On a good night, their creaking concession stands can take as much as £100,000.
It's no surprise that legitimate sellers are keen to ward off the army of bootleggers who appear outside arenas. 'The industry has become professionalised,' said Drinkwater, whose company was founded 25 years ago and is now owned by the Sanctuary music group.
'We advise bands to trademark their likeness and logos right from the beginning.'
But merchandising is no longer restricted to clothing. Fans are creating 'rocker rooms' packed with wallpaper and action figures immortalising Led Zeppelin and Guns N' Roses. It is a trend Drinkwater is happy to support, but first he has to check that Morrissey is satisfied with his collection of own-brand rosary beads.
Rolling Stones World Tour reaches London on Aug 20 and takes in Glasgow, Sheffield and Cardiff (www.rollingstones.com/tour). Robbie Williams World Tour reaches Glasgow on Sep 1 and takes in Leeds and Milton Keynes (http://www.robbiewilliamstickets.co.uk)

It's the pop ticket money can't buy..

'...and your YEP has 40 pairs up for grabs
By Richard EdwardsIT'S the hottest ticket in town...everyone wants to be in Roundhay Park to see the King of Pop Robbie Williams perform. Tickets are like gold dust - BUT, we have 40 pairs to give away to our readers. Late last year Robbie fans desperate to seee their hero strut his stuff swamped phone lines and the internet to grab the final tickets for his Leeds gigs in a matter of minutes. NightIt broke a Guinness Book of Records entry for sales - 40,000 tickets were available, they were gone in 40 minutes. Both the pop sensation's Roundhay Park performances, on September 8 and 9, are now sold out, with 90,000 fans expected to turn up each night. But, through your YEP you could be there.Next week all you need to do is collect three tokens and answer a simple question to get your name in the hat with a chance of collecting tickets.Tickets late last year were being sold for £45, music experts reckon that in the days before the concert you could add a nought to that and prices on the net could be far higher. Hotels in Leeds and much further afield are booked solid for the Robbie shows and there is talk of one hotel, just over the Leeds boundary in Bradford offering £50 rooms at £450 for the night of the concert. A spokeswoman for Gateway Yorkshire, Leeds's tourist information centre, said many hotels had already put up the 'No Vacancies' signs for the gig weekend. Robbie's visit to Roundhay is part of his biggest world tour. U2 were the last band to rock Roundhay, in 1997. The Rolling Stones played the Park's Superbowl in 1982 to an estimated 120,000 people.Previous visitors include Michael Jackson, Madonna and Bruce Springsteen. PricesFans of Robbie Williams will need a few quid in the bank if they want to catch their idol live in Leeds later this year. The one-time Take That pin-up's sell-out gigs at Roundhay Park in September have sparked frenzied bidding wars on internet auction site eBay. Ian De-Whytell, boss at Leeds music store Crash Records, said: "You're talking about a lot of cash, but I'm not surprised the prices are so high. "Everyone seems to want to see Robbie - these are the biggest concerts of the year in Leeds without a doubt."

Robbie Williams helps Pet Shop Boys

Quoted from: http://uk.news.launch.yahoo.com

'Robbie Williams has lent his considerable talents to a new Pet Shop Boys CD in return for a bit of help with his own long-awaited new album.
The pop superstar makes a guest appearance on the 80s icons' new double CD, Concert, which will be released next month.
Meanwhile, Neil Tennant and keyboard player Chris Lowe have collaborated on Rob's upcoming album, which is yet to be named.
It isn't the first time Robbie has teamed up with the band.
The threesome worked together on his single No Regrets in 1998.
Robbie is set to release the first single, Rudebox, from his new album next month, but has already tried to explain what it's all about.
"Rudebox is loads of different things.
"Sometimes it could be a vibe delivered in a spaceship direct to the studio, sometimes it's a really nasty girl dancing scantily-clad, or sometimes it's a giant soundsystem..." he helpfully explained.
Concert is scheduled for a September 25 release.
Rudebox will hit the shops on September 4.'

Robbie 'smells of cigarettes'

Quoted from: http://www.thisislondon.co.uk

'By Allan Hall, Evening Standard, in Berlin 10 August 2006

A German singer who flirted with Robbie Williams on his European tour has told how he stinks of cigarettes - and how proud he is of his tattoo saying "Mother".
Diana Sorbello, 25, met the performer at the Intercontinental-Hotel in Cologne at the weekend.
She said: "Robbie is really messy. I spent three hours talking with him in his presidential suite. Everything was really slovenly, like an uncleaned students' dorm.
"On the table were 10 full cigarette packets. Under the table was a mountain of beach and training shoes.
"He looked like he had just come from a sports session. His hair was totally wild, he wore baggy tracksuit trousers.
"He told me his parents were divorced, that he has a better relationship with his mum and he showed me his tattoo saying 'Mother'."
Miss Sorbello said the 32-year-old singer expressed surprise that her parents were still married, and had asked "one question after another".
She added: "Every 15 minutes or so he told me how pretty I was but nothing more. I only laughed at his compliments. He wasn't wearing any scent but he smelled strongly of cigarettes.
"He was the opposite of what I expected. I thought he would be fighting off girls by the dozen but he was like the boy next door. He said he would contact me. Sadly, he hasn't done that yet." '

Let me entertain 5000 more of you at Hampden, says Robbie

Quoted from: http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk

Click for larger image'FANS of Robbie Williams have been given another chance to snap up gold-dust briefs for his two Glasgow shows. Thousands of extra tickets for the superstar's sold-out Hampden Park gigs have been released by concert promoters. DF Concerts will sell the final lot of briefs on Friday for the gigs on September 1 and 2. The extra allocation of between 5000 and 6000 tickets have become available after the full capacity for the shows was finally agreed. The news is likely to spark a scramble among thousands of Robbie fans in Scotland after previous shows sold-out in hours. Support for the 55,000- capacity show comes from Basement Jaxx and Orson. The Evening Times told last October how Robbie is due to appear at the National Stadium next month, kicking off his five-month tour at the Glasgow football ground. When the briefs were released, internet ticket touts sold them for up to £300 each. However, the gigs sparked controversy after it emerged one of the dates clashed with the Scotland football team's first Euro 2008 qualifying tie at Hampden. The SFA was forced to find an alternative venue for the September 2 clash with the Faroe Islands. National football chiefs looked at both Ibrox and Celtic Park as possible venues for the fixture, before deciding that the East End stadium would host the match. Tickets for the gigs are available by calling the SECC box office on 08700 13 26 52 or logging on to www.secxtra.com They can also be bought on the Ticketmaster Scotland website: www.scotland. ticketmaster.co.uk or by calling 0870 169 0100. Tickets are priced £40, £42.50 and £45.

Robbie afraid to train with Bayern, coach says

Quoted from: http://today.reuters.com

'BERLIN (Reuters) - British pop star Robbie Williams did not take up an invitation to take part in a training session with German soccer club Bayern Munich, Bayern coach Felix Magath said.
The singer's management had told the club he was interested in training while he was in Germany on a world concert tour.
Bayern invited Williams to join in on any one of three training sessions last week in Munich and hordes of photographers and fans showed up to watch but the singer failed to appear.
"Evidently he was afraid in the end to come out and practice with us," Magath told Wednesday's edition of the Passauer Neue Presse newspaper.
"Maybe he heard from someone that the coach in Munich is a bit tough. He then perhaps decided: 'No, that's a bit much for me. I want to be able to finish my concert tour in one piece."'
Williams, who has the same German mobile phone company as Bayern Munich as a sponsor, is a keen soccer player and hurt his wrist badly while training with a regional league club during a stay in Berlin last year.

Tennant tested by 'distracted' Robbie

Quoted from: http://www.contactmusic.com

'PET SHOP BOYS frontman NEIL TENNANT was exasperated during recording sessions with ROBBIE WILLIAMS, because the British pop hunk kept getting distracted. The WEST END GIRLS singer admits the former TAKE THAT star has a limited attention span so he had to work extra hard to keep Williams in the studio. Tennant says, "He does have a short attention span. He'll do anything rather than rehearse." The Pet Shops Boys are helping Williams out with his forthcoming album RUDEBOX, while he contributes to their live album CONCERT.

This is how it works, when Robbie Williams invites a girl up his room

Translated from: http://www.bild.t-online.de

'Watch, bump into, talk to and score - that quick a Superstar gets his bag - the photo-evidence.

HE (Hunter): Singer Robbie Williams (32), on a big World-Tour. Today and tomorrow he rocks in Cologne, has settled in posh 'Interconti' Dusseldorf (3500 Euro per night). His relaxation-program: sleep, reading magazins, play footie. And hunt for game meat.

HER (Bag): Schlager singer Diana Sorbello (25, 'I never will start something again on a Sunday') from Cologne. She encountered Robbie Sundaynight in the Hotelbar. He spoke to her quickly, a short flirt, and then they both disappeared in his Presidential Suite.

To BILD Diana told afterwards: 'He was so charming and like a gentleman, that I really couldnt say no. We have just talked though.'
