Get Up Stand Up: Bob Geldof, ABC, Saturday: 10pm

Quoted from: http://www.smh.com.au

This excellent series on the interplay between pop and politics tonight looks at a comparatively recent phenomenon: the charity benefit gig. Bob Geldof was behind LiveAid, the famous 1984 attempt to elevate the plight of starving African children. "I am personally responsible for the worst records ever made in history," he moans.
Perhaps, but he started something big. Tonight, a bevy of stars, including Geldof, Elton John and Robbie Williams, offer an honest, self-deprecating analysis of what makes some gigs work and others flop, and whether any of it makes any difference.
