'Fantastic' Live 8 line-up grows

The Corrs, Beverly Knight and jazz star Jamie Cullum are the latest acts confirmed to perform at the Live 8 concert in Edinburgh. The free gig at Murrayfield will be broadcast by the BBC across online, television and radio on 6 July, the first day of the G8 summit. About 50,000 people are expected to attend the concert which also includes Snow Patrol, Travis and Texas. Organiser Midge Ure said the line-up was "fantastic". Award-winning songwriter Guy Chambers, who has worked with Robbie Williams and Will Young, will be the concert's musical director. Lee Lodge, who was behind Robbie Williams' shows at Murrayfield and Knebworth, will be creative director.

'Amazing event'
Funnymen Peter Kay and Lenny Henry will host the gig with appearances from Annie Lennox, Womad, Sugababes, Ronan Keating and McFly. The show, which is being organised by Ure and Bob Geldof, will form the climax of a huge anti-poverty protest in Edinburgh on the day the G8 summit of world leaders begins in Gleneagles. Ure said: "Getting this team on board is fantastic. They are absolute professionals, with worldwide reputations of the highest quality - they will deliver the most amazing event at Murrayfield."

The text lottery runs until Saturday. There are 21,000 pairs of tickets available for the gig, the same day as Live 8's "million rally" in the city. A text message lottery is being run until midnight on Saturday for people wanting to attend the event. Participants in the text competition must answer a simple question, which is: Where will the Long Walk to Justice conclude on 6 July? A) Murrayfield, B) Macclesfield, C) Madrid. Entrants aged 16 and over must send the answer to 84599 before midnight on Saturday, 18 June. Entries are £1.50 plus the usual text message charge.
