Robbie entertains thoughts of Lakes

ROBBIE Williams is rumoured to be the next in a long line of celebs snapping up millionaire mansions in the Lake District.
The cheeky heartthrob famous for his tiger pants is thought to have splashed out £2 million on former hotel Quarry Garth in Troutbeck Bridge, near Windermere. It has nine bedrooms, a sauna and a billiards room. On its eight-and-a-half acres of land there is also a four-bedroom lodge which could be converted into a recording studio.
Once dubbed “the fat dancer from Take That” by Noel Gallagher, Robbie had five number one albums under his belt by the time he sang at Live8 earlier this month.
He is known to have stayed in the Crown Hotel at Wetheral and has recently sold his five-bedroom house in Ladbroke Grove, West London, for which he paid £4.5million five years ago.
Excited residents have been asking the Matthews Benjamin estate agents in Windermere whether the pop star will soon be their neighbour.
Stately homes in the Lake District have become rich pickings for those famous enough to be able to afford them.
Superstar Sting owns homes in Tuscany, New York and Malibu. Three years ago he added Grasmere to the list when he spent £500,000 on his wife’s 50th birthday present: a 16th-century farmhouse. A drop in the ocean after he had earned £4.7 million the previous year.
Coronation Street star Sally Whittaker was also taken by Grasmere. She was spotted there in September looking round a £400,000 property while a few years ago actress Nicole Kidman was also believed to be house hunting.
Sir Paul McCartney is thought to have considered buying the Sharrow Bay Country House Hotel, Ullswater, where he proposed to Heather Mills.
