Robbie Williams writes a song to God

Quoted from: http://tonight.co.za

'September 30, 2005
Robbie Williams has written a song begging God for forgiveness for his drug and alcohol binges. The pop heartthrob, who recently claimed his wild days are behind him, begs to be forgiven for his past in new tune Make Me Pure. A source said: "Make Me Pure is a gospel-style dedication to God from someone who has sinned and wants to be saved.
top.
"Robbie doesn't take drugs or drink now but he has lived wildly in the past. This song is his way of asking for forgiveness." The track - which reportedly sounds similar to his massive hit Angels - will be released on his upcoming album Intensive Care.'

Robbie Williams sparks gay rumours

Quoted from: http://www.femalefirst.co.uk/

'Robbie Williams has made yet another joke about being gay - after claiming he is an "absolute bender." .
The pop heartthrob, who has been plagued by speculation surrounding his sexuality throughout his career, made the shock confession during a live radio interview on KEY 103. .
After being quizzed on whether he was gay, Robbie - who has been romantically linked to former flatmate and close friend Jonathan Wilkes - quipped: "Yes, I'm an absolute bender!". Bender is British slang for a gay person. The 'Trippin'' singer also further fuelled rumours he could be gay by insisting he has no intention of getting married and isn't on the look out for a girlfriend.
He added: "I think growing up in my 20s, not knowing who I really was, I wanted someone to come and save me, to make me better. But now I'm like, I've got plenty of time".
On his new album, 'Intensive Care', the handsome star has penned a song called 'My Gay Best Friend' further fuelling speculation.
Robbie has dated a string of famous beauties, including Rod Stewart's ex-wife Rachel Hunter, Cameron Diaz and former Spice Girls Geri Halliwell and Melanie C.'

Robbie Williams confirmed new romance

Quoted from: http://news.softpedia.com/

'Singer Robbie Williams confirmed during an interview that he has been dating a beautiful woman from Los Angeles for the past five months. Williams, who created himself an image of a smooth womanizer, said nobody knew about his romantic relationship because he's not famous in LA." I've had a relationship in LA for five months that nobody knows about," the singer told hit40uk host Katy Hill." I've been on about 50-odd dates that nobody knows about because there isn't the network of grasses they have in the UK. They don't know who I am in LA. Or rather, they're not bothered!" Speculation about his ambiguous sexuality and romantic life is rampant in the British media. Williams seems to encourage an image as a smooth womanizer and there are numerous widely-circulated Internet accounts allegedly written by Williams' female sexual partners extolling his considerable prowess as a lover. A regular feature of his live performances is full-on French kisses with female fans plucked from the audience. Much of Williams' success can be attributed to his 'cheeky chappy' persona and ironic sensibility much loved by his UK fans. This is perhaps a major reason why Williams has failed to make any impact at all in the USA - without the irony Williams comes across as arrogant and self-aggrandizing.'

Take that reform!

Quoted from: http://uk.news.launch.yahoo.com/

'Robbie Williams will reunite with Take That to appear in a forthcoming documentary about the boy band, it has been claimed. Robbie was expected to be a major stumbling block in the bid to get the group together for the programme, which will coincide with the release of a new CD and DVD. However, according to reports, all five members of the band - Williams, Gary Barlow, Howard Donald, Mark Owen and Jason Orange - will appear on ITV's "Take That ...For The Record". The documentary will mark a decade since Take That split ten years ago and sees them speak for the first time publicly in the aftermath of the experience, reports Music Week. An accompanying DVD, entitled "Never Forget", is released on November 14, coinciding with a new Best Of, including all 16 singles, live concert performances and fly-on-the-wall footage. Robbie Williams releases his new single, "Tripping", on October 03, with the accompanying album, "Intensive Care", following two weeks later. '

Toxic tones top 10

Quoted from: http://www.smh.com.au

'Guess which singers are really, really toxic as far as shop workers are concerned.
A new poll says Britney, Usher and Kylie top the list ... at least in Britain.
One in three shopworkers reported being driven up the wall because the same CD was being played up to 20 times a week in their stores, reports the BBC website and PA.
And following behind the top three as more irritating were, from fourth place, 50 Cent, Robbie Williams, Akon, Beyonce, Blue, Justin Timberlake and Michael Jackson.

Getting on their nerves... Kylie and, from top left, Britney, Usher, 50 Cent and Robbie Williams.

Recruitment company Retailchoice.com polled 1400 shop workers in the Britain to find out what they thought of music played in their stores.
Almost half of those polled said customers also complained about store music driving them mad.
Christmas really fired up the frustration with songs such as Jingle Bells , Slade's Merry Christmas Everyone and Bing Crosby's White Christmas topping the most hated list.
Greg Baines, marketing manager for retailchoice.com told PA: "Music is an essential part of the retail experience, and can help to make or break the ambience for both staff and customers.'

Williams-Knightley romance continues

Quoted from: http://news.softpedia.com

'Pop singer Robbie Williams fancies Keira Knightley so much that he's talking about her every time he's interviewed by the media. Robbie confessed recently that he likes the actress because she looks just like one of his childhood sweetheart. He gushes: "Keira's gorgeous. She looks like the first girlfriend I had when I was 16."
Robbie Williams, born February 13, 1974, is regarded with bafflement by some observers, who note that Williams seems to have achieved huge success with only moderate looks, a mediocre singing voice and an unimpressive musical background. This criticism was perhaps effectively summed up by Liam Gallagher's assessment of Williams as the "fat dancer from Take That". Much of Williams' success can be attributed to his 'cheeky chappy' persona and ironic sensibility much loved by his UK fans. This is perhaps a major reason why Williams has failed to make any impact at all in the USA - without the irony Williams comes across as arrogant and self-aggrandising.'

Robbie talks about being teetotal

Quoted from: http://www.teentoday.co.uk

'Robbie Williams has confessed he gave up drink the morning after he decided to drink himself to death. The singer, who is now teetotal, says he realised he had to stop after he thought an alcohol-related death would be a good way to go.He revealed: "The big revelation was about five years ago when the night before I thought, 'You know what? I may as well just drink myself to death. What a great way out. That'll be brilliant.' "And then I woke up the next morning and thought, 'No, that's not a good idea.' And I haven't really drunk since then."Robbie claims he first realised he had a drink problem when he was just 19 years old. He recalled to Britain's Radio 2: "The first time I realised I'd probably got a problem with drink and drugs I was walking round Chelsea Harbour and I was 19. I'd just got back from the MTV Berlin awards with Take That and we'd gone on this bender, which literally nearly involved me throwing my insides up. And I was walking round and I thought, 'Yeah, I've got a problem. Oh dear. I'm only 19.'"The star now claims being teetotal is "rock 'n' roll". The reformed alcoholic believes his life is wilder since he gave up alcohol because he always has to be himself. He explained: "It's kind of rock 'n' roll because you've got to go with however you're feeling on any given day. I drank because I felt bad and was depressed but now if I feel like that I've got to go with it and ride it though. Each individual day can be quite an interesting journey and I wake up without a hangover or a headache. It's brilliant." '

Robbie Williams returns with Intensive Care

Quoted from: http://top40-charts.com

SYDNEY, AU. (EMI MUSIC AUSTRALIA)

- 'Intensive Care' was recorded in Robbie Williams' bedroom high in the Hollywood Hills and co-written with Stephen Duffy over the course of 24 months. In this time, the pair were wildly experimental, creating songs that sounded, variously, like Gang Of Four, Bloc Party and Kraftwerk, before finally settling on a style that they felt most comfortable with.
"Lyrically, this is the best album I've written," Robbie says, "although I do say that before every album comes out. But I think I mean it this time. Anyway, I'm very pleased with it, and very pleased with the way it worked out with Stephen [Duffy]. It's given me a whole new perspective on the future, as well." Ultimately, says its author, the album is inspired, at least in part, by the Human League's classic 1984 single 'Louise', about a man who sees his former girlfriend at a bus stop and realises that he still has strong feelings for her.
"It's one of my all-time favourite tracks," he says, "and I liked the idea of writing from Louise's point of view. And so several tracks on the album, things like 'Ghosts' and 'Spread Your Wings' in particular, run along similar themes, about ex-lovers who still yearn for one another. There's a lot of pining on this record, I think."
Identifiably the work of someone taking stock of his life - see 'Ghosts', 'Make Me Pure' and the mesmerising 'Advertising Space' - 'Intensive Care' is richly melancholic and steeped in nostalgia. While recording it, Robbie would revisit the key songs of his youth - everything from Oran Juice Jones' 'The Rain' to Prefab Sprout's 'When Love Breaks Down'.
"When I think about school and hear some of the songs from the 80s, it breaks my heart, it really does," he says. "But I think I might have finally purged myself of that, it might finally be out of my system, which is probably a good thing. But it's definitely been an influence in the making of this album. I wanted to write the kind of songs that could break somebody else's heart in 15, 20 years, and give them the same sense of nostalgia as my favourite songs gave me."
But the mood isn't uniformly melancholic here. The first single, 'Tripping' (to be released Sunday 2nd October 2005), is Robbie's attempt at a "mini gangster opera", all cocksure strut and disarming falsetto, while 'A Place To Crash' out-swaggers the Rolling Stones in pursuit of rock'n'roll hedonism.'

Williams'drink reversal

Quoted from: http://www.contactmusic.com

'British pop star ROBBIE WILLIAMS kicked his boozy habit the morning after he decided to drink himself to death.
The ANGELS singer - who has also conquered drug addictions - felt so depressed, he wanted to drink his career away.
But the following morning he pulled himself together and has hardly touched alcohol since.
He says, "One night I thought, 'I may as well just drink myself to death.'
"Then I woke up the next morning and thought, 'No, that's not a good idea.'
"And I haven't really drunk since then." '

Robbie Williams Intensive Care details

Quoted from: http://www.undercover.com.au/

'by Tim Cashmere
21 September 2005
Robbie Williams' fifth solo album 'Intensive Care' is due out towards the end of October and shows Robbie taking a change in direction from his pop superstar image to that of an indie rocker.
'Intensive Care' was co-written with Stephen Duffy in Williams' Hollywood mansion and inspired by bands like Bloc Party and Kraftwerk.
While Robbie claims this is "the best album he has written lyrically", he does admit that he says that for every album, but "thinks" he means it this time.
It will be the first time Robbie has done an album launch outside the UK. He will perform a one off show in Berlin on Sunday the 9th of October. It sold out in minutes and will be filmed and broadcast directly into cinemas across Europe.
Robbie Williams has accrued 21 top ten singles in the UK alone. Six of his albums have reached No. 1 in the UK chart and his global album sales currently stand at over 35 million. At the last count, he has won 15 Brit Awards (a record), three Ivor Novellos, a Q Magazine Classic Songwriting Award and all manner of worldwide MTV gongs. 'Live at Knebworth', the commemorative album recorded over three nights in 2003 at which he played to 375,000 fans (another record), is the fastest selling live album the UK has ever seen.

Review 'Intensive Care'

Quoted from: http://www.thesun.co.uk/
Thanks to www.robbiewilliamslive.com

'We've been expecting something special from Robbie Williams after his last album Escapology. And now nearly 3 yrs on he is back with his best release yet. I've had an exclusive listen to Intensive Care and Robbie joined me to bring you a revealing track by track review. In typical tongue-in-cheek style, the singer has included a song called Your Gay Friend -setting tongues wagging in showbiz land as to who it could be. Intensive Care is a moody, melancholy and magnificently funny album. Fans will be pleasantly surprised to hear reggae and rock influences in some of the 12 tracks. In an exclusive interview Robbie, who has sold more than 35million records, told me: This is the best album I've written but I say that before every album comes out. But I think I mean it this time, I'm very pleased with the way it worked out with co. writer Stephen Duffy and it's given me a whole new perspective on the future as well. Delving into his past, Robbie sings about lost love, He also ponders his future as a dirty old man and his search for a wife. The first single Tripping is Robbie's attempt at a mini gangster opera and the track Sin Sin Sin is influenced by his love for electronic music. Robbie has used this album to let fans into his life - and you will see that stardom still leave him struggling for complete happiness. Robbie, the country's greatest entertainer for the past decade, won't be giving up his title as King of Pop just yet... The tracks rated:

Ghosts - opening track sees Robbie tapping into the 80's revising fav sounds from bands such as The Human League. Robbie says it's about lost love and pining and while it's melancholic the vocal harmonies raise it up. 9 out 10

Tripping - we already know - rated 8 out 10

Make Me Pure - Classic Robbie with clever crisp vocal plus guitars. This won't disappoint - good tune - This song is about turning 30 and realising there is still a big void in my life - that's a woman, a partner, a wife. 10/10

Spread your Wings - swaggering rock song that wouldn't be out of place in a huge stadium. Robbie says I want to write songs that will still break people's hearts in 20 yrs time and I hope and reckon this one will do just that. 8/10

Advertising Space - like a U2 track - seems autobiographical but Robbie layers in lines about America and insiders are pitching it as Robbie's answer to Candle in the Wind. Robbie says. This is my True Romance song. 8/10

Please Don't Die - you would expect this to be tearful, but the pleading line about an unnamed family member who died of cancer last year is not hopeless. The funky guitar on the track steers Robbie's tender, intimate lyrics in a soul-searching and optimistic direction 10/10

Your Gay Friend - Intensive Care's cheekiest number and full of the F word - but Robbie keeps everyone guessing and refuses to reveal the subjects name. He says: 'The less said the better'. 10/10

Sin Sin Sin - An electronic hypnotic song that sees Robbie slipping into Pet Shop Boys mode. It's a tale of a dirty old man searching for satisfaction with women. Robbie says "It's about the kind of bloke I will turn into one day" 10/10

Random Acts of Kindness - Robbie has been dabbling in spells and has come up with the winning formula for a hit album. Song is full of experimental Eastern promise - He says this song is mystical and magical. 8/10

The Trouble with me - The singer exposes all his emotional weaknesses in this. The into is pure Robbie classic and the opening lines leave you in no doubt that though maturing. Robbie is still fighting to find the perfect balance in life. 9/10

A Place to crash - Rocking Robbie at his best. It's a Stones tribute with guitar sounds that Primal Scream would envy. Robbie really wants people to hear this one and is bound to be a live favourite. 10/10

King of Bloke and Bird - song about painful love - Robbie says. This is me trying to imitate Neil Young and sounding instead like Kermit the frog. He adds this song could be "too painful to sing live" 7/10'

Robbie Live in Amsterdam

Macca: Slags Robbie, Falls Down Hole

Quoted from: http://www.xfm.co.uk/

'In a union of both good and bad news, Sir Paul has criticised polls that picked Robbie Williams' 'Angels' as the best song of the last 25 years, but taken a tumble in America when he fell down a hole in the stage ... Instant karma?
Speaking about his pop peers, Macca has launched a frank attack on Madonna and Robbie Williams. The ex-Beatle who's new album 'Chaos And Creation In The Backyard' is receiving notable critical acclaim, said of Madonna 'I'm not a fan. I've met her and she's a pretty cool person but her records have never really turned me on.'

Speaking to The Sun, Macca also doubted the musical force that is Robbie Wiliams: 'I wasn't that convinced by 'Angels' winning the best song of the last 25 years. I think for an ex-boy group person, he's done well. He makes pretty good records for his audience.'

McCartney was however far more complimentary (yet slightly misguided) about James Blunt, saying 'He's a good new name. He's got good songs and sings well.' High praise indeed.

In other Macca news, Sir Paul recently fell down a hole in the stage while performing in the US. McCartney was performing at the Tampa St Pete Times Forum when witnesses say that, as he walked over to where a piano was supposed to rise from a trapdoor, he fell, slightly hurting his arm and back before being assisted by stage crew.

Of the incident, McCartney said, 'There's a big hole in the stage and I just fell into it. A word to the stage crew, I want a big fence around here tomorrow. Think we ought to put a picket fence around it? A little picket fence! It will look nice.' '

Robbie Williams says aliens are arriving!

Quoted from: http://sify.com/

'Tuesday, 20 September , 2005, 16:10
London: Rationalists may never buy the tales of close encounters of the third kind with aliens, but superstar pop icon Robbie Williams, not only believes that there are many galactic cousins of ours somewhere up there, but also is sure that their visit to earth is imminent.
He claims that he has been having vivid dreams of experiences with aliens almost every night, and has told kids that the next seven years will see the arrival of our elusive siblings.
"I've been dreaming about UFOs every night. I can't wait to go to sleep at night because those dreams have been so brilliant.
"I think they are definitely on their way, seriously. Mark my words. From now until 2012 - watch out kids," The Sun quoted him, as saying. '

My mole tells me: "Robbie kissed her on the cheeks and they chatted for about 10 minutes. Anna was telling Robbie how she's really missing her partner, David Thewlis, as he's away filming in Los Angeles. They certainly looked like they'd put the past behind them."'

Robbie Williams will be the hero of the new advert campaign for Radio ZET that starts on the 9th of September 2005. Radio ZET started contacting Williams' management in Autumn 2003. The photos for the advert where taken in May 2005 in Hollywood. The soundtrack for the advert is "Feel". Radio ZET always works with the biggest stars. "We chose Robbie Williams, because his hits are greatly popular for our listeners, his character fits Radio ZET ideally" said Radio ZET's boss, Robert Kozyra. Radio ZET is the first radio station, that Robbie Williams agreed to advertise. Robbie Williams is also for the first time not talking in English in an advert. Apart from Radio ZET Williams starred in adverts for Mercedes-SMART, Pepsi and Reebok. The Campaign with Robbie Williams, Radio ZET is promoting its new slogan ('Radio ZET, czule granie'), that lets people now about the music played and what close contact the station has with the listeners. The music played is friendly, calm and unstressfull. The newest Radio ZET advert, where Robbie Williams appears personally was filmed in Hollywood. The best American specialists that work with Julia Roberts, Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Leonardo di Caprio and Sharon Stone daily took part in filming the advert. The script was written by Marek Bimer and Janusz Mazurczak. Radio ZET's advert was directed by Scotty Bergstein, that was Ridley Scotts helper during "Thelma and Louise" was being filmed. Forget Berlin and come home Robbie

Quoted from: http://www.thisisstaffordshire.co.uk/

'Sir, - I am one of Robbie Williams's biggest fans, and I worship the ground he walks on, but I am so disgusted with Robbie and his record company. I couldn't believe it when I heard Robbie was going to do a concert of songs from his new album, Intensive Care. I couldn't wait to hear his songs and was hoping he was going to do the concert somewhere in this country... but no, he's doing it in Berlin. Why Berlin? Robbie should be doing his first major concert since Knebworth here in England, not only in England... here in Stoke-on-Trent. When I got over the shock that Robbie was doing his gig in Berlin, I heard that tickets were going on sale on Monday, September 12, to watch Robbie's gig live from Berlin at chosen cinemas around the country. I can't believe these cinemas are in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow and Belfast. Oh no, not Stoke-on-Trent! I just want to know, why isn't Robbie doing a concert in England? Why isn't Robbie doing a concert in Stoke? I can't see why he can't do a concert at Vale Park. It would be a sell-out and it would bring some money to the club. And why isn't the concert in Berlin being broadcast live in Stoke-on-Trent? Robbie Williams and his record company have really let the people of Stoke-on-Trent down. Robbie has always said that he will never forget where he comes from and I think he's proved that by his Give It Sum charity, but he's got to come home for his fans. He's got to do a concert here to really show the country and the world that he's proud to be from Stoke-on-Trent. Come on Robbie, come home. LORRAINE HARRIS Blurton'

Hit radio in Austria played the single an incredible 31 times on the first day while 'Tripping' recieved a total of 150 plays on the first day in Germany. Chile is a country where Latin and local music dominates the airplay charts, however Robbie's new single made its debut at number one in the Anglo Radio charts and also number 1 in the general chart! Beatles song is best ever

Quoted from: http://www.thisislondon.co.uk

'By Metro
12 September 2005

Drugs, war, a grisly car crash and enough holes to fill the Albert Hall - apparently these make up the perfect British pop song. A Day In The Life by The Beatles has been voted the best British song of all time. The Fab Four's 1967 classic pushed The Kinks'Waterloo Sunset into second place, followed by Wonderwall by Oasis. Angels by Robbie Williams was the most modern track in a music experts' top ten dominated by acts from the 1960s and 1970s. A day In The Life 'remains the ultimate sonic rendition of what it means to be British', said Q magazine, which organised the poll. The track was banned by the BBC for supposedly mentioning drugs. It opens with John Lennon singing and playing acoustic guitar and climaxes with a 41-piece orchestra 'freaking out' and all four Beatles hitting the same final piano chord. The orchestra was asked to wear a mixture of formal and fancy dress for the session and told to 'freak out' for 24 bars, as long as they all ended on the same note. The band added other sound effects including an alarm clock ringing, roadie Mal Evans counting each bar and a high-pitched tone audible only to dogs. God Save The Queen by The Sex Pistols was fourth in the poll, followed by Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody. The Who's My Generation, Angels by Robbie Williams, David Bowie's Life On Mars, Sympathy For The Devil by The Rolling Stones and Massive Attack's Unfinished Sympathy completed the top ten.
But what is the song all about?
'I read the news today, oh boy...' John Lennon often wrote songs with the Daily Mail propped up on his piano and he was inspired by two stories while writing the song.
'He blew his mind out in a car, he didn't notice that the lights had changed...' One of the stories was about Guinness heir Tara Browne, who died in December 1966 when he drove his Lotus Elan into the back of a parked lorry in South Kensington.
'Four thousand holes in Blackburn, Lancashire, and though the holes were rather small, they had to count them all...' This was the second Daily Mail story to catch Lennon's eye - a plan to fill 4,000 potholes in Blackburn.
'I'd love to turn you on...' This was one of the alleged drug references which led the BBC to ban the track from radio playlists when it was released.

Coldplay play football with Robbie Williams

Quoted from: http://www.gigwise.com/

'by Scott Colothan on 9/12/2005

Robbie Williams has been playing football with Coldplay and Starsailor at his LA home in-between working on his new album. The 31-year-old Port Vale fan invited Chris Martin and co. and insipid indie kids Starsailor along to his pad for a kick about while putting the finishing touches to 'Intensive Care'. Starsailor were in the city to work on their forthcoming album 'On The Outside' when they got an invite from Robbie. Frontman James Walsh told The Star: 'Our A & R man, Chris, was working on Robbie's album at the same time, so he asked if we wanted to play (football) at Robbie's house.'You can’t say no to an offer like that, can you?' Speaking about Coldplay, he continued: 'Coldplay were playing at Robbie’s the week before us. 'I don't know if they are rubbish footballers, but Robbie’s team must have thought we were another weedy indie band and we thrashed them.' '

Robbie Williams' need for speed

Quoted from: http://www.contactmusic.com

'British pop star ROBBIE WILLIAMS has developed a passion for motorbike racing, even though he doesn't hold a full driving licence. The ANGELS singer has become a regular at California's Willow Springs International Motorsports Park - and he regularly takes to the track in a bid to notch up his fastest lap time. Williams spends much of his time at his mansion in Los Angeles, and has hooked up with a circle of friends who share his passion for life in the fast lane.
A source says, 'Robbie is a huge motorbike fan and loves the thrill of track racing. He goes up there with a group of guys who share his passion for bikes. He is a bit of a thrill-seeker and loves pushing himself and the bike to the limits. Robbie may not be able to drive on the road yet but he tears the track up when he gets let loose on a bike. Once he has the helmet on he's not a superstar - he becomes one of the boys.' 13/09/2005 17:19'

Let me entertain you... for £1million an hour

Quoted from: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/

'If you wanted Robbie Williams played at your party, you'd check your CD collection. Michael Spencer checked with the man himself. Then it was simply a matter of handing over £1million before Williams turned up to provide the entertainment at Mr Spencer's 50th birthday party. A mere one hour's entertainment to be precise. But for the City's wealthiest selfmade man it was a sound investment. Williams's appearance was the highlight of the party at the Spencer mansion in the south of France on Saturday night. The 1970s band Sister Sledge provided the rest of the music, two of France's top chefs cooked the food and the champagne flowed like water for the 300 guests. Mr Spencer may not be as famous as Williams, but his £360million fortune leaves the 32-year-old singer in the shade. The chief executive of Icap, the world's biggest money-trading broker, he paid himself a £10million salary last year and is the 138th richest man in Britain. He is also one of the Conservative Party's biggest donors. And while Williams once claimed 'I'm rich beyond my wildest dreams' his £85million is small change to Mr Spencer. He has excellent earning power, though. He played a mere 15 songs at the party - for almost £70,000 a tune. Last night, sources close to the singer said he had given his pay cheque to charity. 'It was an incredible party that must have cost -if you include what Robbie was paid - at least £1.5million,' said a source who attended the party in Grasse, near St Tropez. 'It had everything money can buy - and then some. The wine and champagne were all vintage. They included bottles that were worth thousands of pounds. When Robbie came on there was a huge cheer and people could not believe that he was there playing to them in such an intimate venue. Michael flew at least some of his guests over from England and all over the world to attend the party and he also paid to put them up. It was a night that no one will forget.' '

Jessica Callan, Eva Simpson And Caroline HedleyIT'S a long time since Take That - but Robbie Williams hasn't lost his penchant for a stupid dance routine. The 31-year-old Stoke-born singer punched the air while throwing some deeply dodgy shapes on at the side of the stage during the awards ceremony. An onlooker said: 'Robbie was trying really hard to be smooth but when he threw his arms up he revealed a massive sweat patch.'And by the look on his face, it's a bit whiffy, too.

Quoted from: http://breakingnews.iol.ie/

'07/09/2005 - 16:10:11 Pop star Robbie Williams grows misty-eyed whenever he sees Keira Knightley - because she reminds him of his childhood sweetheart. The Millenium singer was lucky enough to date a girl who was the spitting image of Knightley during his teenage years, and he is reminded of young love every time he gazes at the slender actress. He gushes: "Keira's gorgeous. She looks like the first girlfriend I had when I was 16.' '

Robbie silences the Court

Quoted from: http://www.thesun.co.uk

'Robbie ... Love the put-down

ROBBIE WILLIAMS dropped in yesterday and revealed the fantastic put-down he used on rampant COURTNEY LOVE. Robbie said: 'She went to me, 'I asked my friends who I should sleep with and they said you. But I can't sleep with you because of the pop thing.' 'I went, 'Well I can't sleep with you because of the ugly thing.' ' '

Keira didn't see ya, Rob

ROBBIE Williams might have blown his chance with stunning British actress Keira Knightley on the Radio One breakfast show yesterday. The former Take That star, 31, boasted to presenter Chris Moyles that he was going to hang around the studio until Keira arrived so that he could ask her out. 'I don't know if he was scared but he definitely wasn't there when I got there.'
When asked what her answer would have been she said: 'I don't know, I don't know him. He's very good looking though.' But Robbie may be too late. Keira, who plays Elizabeth Bennet in the film adaptation of Jane Austen's classic, seems to have already found her Mr Darcy in the form of Bodyrockers frontman Kaz James. Keira took along her brother as her date for the premiere, but as they walked up the red carpet the Aussie pop star wasn't far behind.
However Keira is staying quiet on the rumours. When asked about Kaz she simply said 'Who?'
Rosamund Pike, who plays Jane Bennet in the film, also attended the premiere and looked stunning in a see-through white dress.'

Robbie's tarot turn-on

Quoted from: http://musicnews.virgin.net/

'Robbie Williams has revealed how he is fascinated by tarot cards and will underline that with the designs for the cover of his forthcoming album, Intensive Care. The album, due out on October 24, will carry a cover shot of Robbie holding his forefinger up to reveal a 'sigil' on his fingertip, a symbol which is a magical seal or device and can be used to summon up such things as angels or demons. In another shot he can be seen pictured naked, laying down with his arms crossed and eyes closed. The album's artwork was designed by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely, who did comic strip Judge Dredd. Robbie's first single from Intensive Care, Tripping, is due out on October 3, and can be heard for the first time on the Chris Moyles Breakfast Show on Radio 1 next Monday.'

Take that, says Robbie as he faces his critics

Quoted from: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/

'By Neil McCormick
(Filed: 03/09/2005)

Five critics from leading newspapers and magazines were invited to an exclusive playback of the new Robbie Williams album, only to be greeted by the star himself carrying a large sheaf of - not always flattering - reviews. 'This is going to be fun ... for me!' announced Williams, as he read out key lines of criticism and challenged the authors to defend their views.

Robbie Williams: 'Have you got spellcheck? Can't you spell?' Time Out magazine was left squirming at a particularly hostile cover story. The Guardian was confronted over its insistence that he wanted to break America - 'You are not in my head. You don't know what I want!' The Daily Telegraph got off quite lightly. 'You have written some nice things about me,' Williams admitted, though he took exception to my outing him as a singer who uses the computer programme AutoTune in the studio to fix his vocals. 'Everybody uses AutoTune these days," he said. 'Have you got spellcheck on your computer? Do you use it? Why is that? Can't you spell?' In what turned out to be a lively and amusing debate about the nature of pop criticism, Williams admitted that he knew it was a mistake to read his own reviews but he could not help himself. 'I am my own worst critic, so I always believe all my bad press,' he confessed. 'This is the wrong business to be in if you're sensitive, but the trouble is you only get into this business because you are sensitive.' There were one or two critical misconceptions that he was keen to dismiss. 'The thing that irks me the most is that people actually believe there is some sinister Mr Big behind me pulling all the strings. When I split up with [producer and songwriting partner] Guy Chambers, it bent my head to read him described everywhere as 'the man behind the hits' - like I had nothing to do with them.' His new album, Intensive Care, released by EMI in October, has been written and recorded with the former Lilac Time songwriter Stephen Duffy. It represents something of a musical departure for Williams, with a muscular and, at times, quite serious collection of songs drawing on favoured musical influences from his youth, including The Smiths and New Order. 'With Guy, I always provided the top line. The melody and lyrics were mine and he worked on the music beneath. When I went in with Steve, he was like 'OK, you play the synthesiser and I'll get on the guitar', which was a bit of a leap for me but I really enjoyed it. I would fanny about on keyboards and bass and guitar, and Steve would cut all the bits together and make a song, so I gained a lot of confidence.' Williams stressed that, contrary to reports, there was no pressure on him from EMI to tackle the US market following his £80 million deal. His new album would not even be released in North America, he said. I've sold 38 million albums. This album, at worst, is going to take me over the 40 million mark. EMI make three quid a record. You do the maths. They have already recouped.' America, he said, was his safe haven, where his lack of commercial success had become a blessing in disguise. "I would have to be mental to invite what I have in the rest of the world to the States, which is really the last place I can walk the streets unmolested. The only way one of my albums is going to get into an LA record store is if I leave it there myself.' He said if he was going to break America he would have tried through film but claimed that he had no interest in acting. 'You wouldn't believe the scripts I have been offered that have gone to top stars and been blockbusters. But I think acting as a profession is silly. It makes me laugh the way actors go on. They're models with slightly more difficult assignments.' Having made his points, Williams admitted: 'I feel a bit silly. That was very Alan Partridge of me, wasn't it? You lot are not as bad as I thought. It's like Stockholm syndrome, you get really attached to your kidnappers'. '

Tarot theme for Robbie

Quoted from: http://www.itn.co.uk/

'12.42PM, Fri Sep 2 2005
Robbie Williams is apparently turning to spiritual tarot cards on his new album, Intensive Care.
The project, which is due for release next month, features artwork based around the mystical form of fortune telling.
His new single, Tripping, should also be out next month.
Figures from the British Phonographic Industry, the UK record industry's trade association, reveal Robbie was 2004's biggest-selling pop artist in the UK.
Several of his albums, including his Greatest Hits, flew off the shelves and outdid US counterparts such as the Scissor Sisters.'
