£6,000 raised for the Stevenage Firefighters’ Fund
ELVIS and Robbie Williams took centre stage to help a pub raise £6,000 for the Stevenage Firefighters' Fund.
The Marquis Of Lorne in Stevenage High Street held the fundraising event at the weekend. There was a headline performance from the Coalhouse Walker Blues Band, supported by Robbie Williams and Elvis impersonators on Saturday. Pete Webb also performed as Elvis on Friday night.

There was a barbecue and raffle prizes were donated from shops around the town, including jewellery and a DVD player.
Buckets were sent round the pub and collections were even taken from drinkers at other pubs along High Street.
"It was a great couple of days," said Ty Spooner, one of the organisers.
"It was heaving. We had a fire engine and speakers outside so you couldn't have missed it."

Celebs slagging off celebs
A church leader in America has dubbed Madonna a "witch" and hubby Guy Richie a "moral slug".
That's not very nice. Still they're not the first celebs to have taken a few insults, although normally celebs dish them out to each other. Remember any of these?
"He's a fat dancer from Take That. Somebody who danced for a living! Stick to what you're good at, that's what I always say." - Noel Gallagher gives Robbie Williams career advice
"He's an ****hole and I think every gay person with a brain cell found it hideously offensive to see Elton performing with him. It's like me singing with Pol Pot." Boy George goes for Eminem and then Sir Elton John.
"George is in a strange place. There seems to be a deep-rooted unhappiness in his life and it shows on the album. All I would say to George is: you should get out more." Sir Elton's 'advice' for George Michael.
But George retorts: "To this day, most of what Elton thinks he knows about my life is pretty much limited to the gossip he hears on what you would call the `gay grapevine'."
"Sleeping with George Michael would be like having sex with a groundhog." Boy George gets in on the act.
"He looks like a dwarf who's been dipped in a bucket of pubic hair." And Boy George has a word for Prince too.
"Who wants to watch her wailing in self-pity about her druggie past? Not me, thanks very much." Jordan's not impressed with Sophie Anderton on I'm A Celebrity.
"She's got a face like a satellite dish and ankles like my granny's." Robbie Williams' damning assessment of Sophie Ellis Bextor. The pop princess had before turned down the chance to tour with the Robster.
"I did consider saying my boyfriend plays for Man City and that we have a kid called Chiswick or something," Sophie Ellis Bextor belittles Posh Spice for taking hubby David Beckham on a promotional tour.
"She's selfish. I did like her but you'll see in my book exactly why I don't like her now. I think she's an evil, conniving little cow. There's a certain situation and people will shortly see what a bitch she was." Jordan also has a few choice words for Mrs Beckham.
"Who Let The Dogs Out?" Mrs Becks reportedly sings out the lyrics as Jordan enters the Man Utd players' lounge.

Desperate Alexandra gets help from prof. dr. E. Sterbunny
"The tattoo stays! The buttons stay! Robbie stays! But I cant figure out the colours of the new website!" cried a desperate Alexandra this week. Asking people's opinions, the most favorite colours that emerged from the survey were:
1. blue. darkblue, bright blue.
2. purple. more bluer.
3. red/brown. bright red, wine red.
4. white. whiter.
The worlds top-expert on colourmatching and decorating, prof. dr. E. Sterbunny, even got involved in this huge dilemma in the Toons Shack shoutbox. "Lets keep her searching (for the eggs) for a little while" was the last thing people heared him whisper right before he left the website.

Struggling charity lifted by £22,000 grant from Robbie
A Lifeline service which helps victims of sexual violence has received a £22,000 cash boost from Potteries pop star Robbie Williams. The superstar's Give It Sum charity has provided the funding for Hanley-based Women's Rape and Sexual Violence Service (WRSVS).
It brings the total amount donated to self-help projects which struggle to find funding in North Staffordshire to £2.3 million.
Give It Sum was launched in conjunction with Comic Relief in 2000.
Organisers at WRSVS are delighted and say it will free up more money for help to provide practical and emotional support to people facing desperate situations.
The handout - the second time WRSVS has received backing from Give It Sum - will pay for administration staff crucial to the smooth running of the operation.
But manager Jakki Seaman stressed the group is still struggling to raise a further £20,000 to stay afloat in the coming year.
She said: "This has given us all a real boost. It is really important that we have the right administrative support to keep the service going.
"We have had money from them a couple of years ago and the charity has always been very supportive. It means that fund-raising for the next couple of years has got off to a good start, although we still need to raise £20,000.
"It feels great that we have had funding from Robbie who has that local connection."
The service is contacted by hundreds of women each month, who need confidential support and advice after being sexually attacked, often by their partner or husband.
It is also attempting to reach out to more Asian victims, who may struggle to access help because of language and cultural barriers, with its new Our Lives project.
A spokesman for Give It Sum said: "The WRSVS provides a much needed and valuable service to women who have been raped or experienced sexual violence.
"In recognition of this, together with an understanding of the difficulty in attracting funding for this sort of work, the Give It Sum committee has awarded a further two years' funding."

Robbie Williams apologised to Joy Division
Pop singer ROBBIE WILLIAMS apologised to former JOY DIVISION rockers PETER HOOK and BERNARD SUMNER when his song ANGELS beat classic Joy Division track LOVE WILL TEAR US APART to a BRIT AWARD earlier this year (05).
Williams was left so red-faced when his song won the Brits 25 Best Song award - honouring the best UK tune of the last quarter of a century - he immediately sought out the veteran stars, who formed NEW ORDER after Joy Division frontman IAN CURTIS killed himself in 1980.
Bassist Hook says, "Robbie came and apologised. We've known him for years and he's a nice guy.
"Me and Bernard were taking the p**s because he knew the score.
I thought he should have given his Brit away - to us. He didn't need another one."

Robbie Williams sells his kitchen gadgets to lose weight!
Robbie Williams is attempting to lose weight by selling his kitchen gadgets on the internet.
The pop heartthrob's latest effort to shed the pounds will see him auction his snack makers on the trading site e-Bay.
Robbie is quoted by Britain's Daily Star as saying: "I have a bread maker, a popcorn maker and all sorts. But these things make you fat so they are all going."
A friend made clear he was selling the items to remove temptation rather than because of money problems. He said: "He doesn't need the cash, but the appliances are likely to fetch a pretty penny from Robbie fans trying to outbid each other." The 31-year-old singer once dubbed "the fat dancer from Take That" by Oasis star Noel Gallagher, has suffered several problems with his weight.
A friend said: "It's well documented that Robbie has been in an inch war for a number of years."
At the end of last year, Robbie controversially admitted the only reason he stopped taking drugs was because of the affect it had on his weight.
The star said: "I'd still be doing it if I didn't blow up to the size of an aircraft hangar, you know, because it was a great time."

Williams pursued Queen job
The surviving members of QUEEN nearly invited pop superstar ROBBIE WILLIAMS to replace the late FREDDIE MERCURY as the band's frontman - until they decided he wasn't the best man for the job.
Drummer ROGER TAYLOR and guitarist BRIAN MAY claim Williams developed a desire to front the popular rock outfit after recording a version of WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS for 2001 film A KNIGHT'S TALE, and deemed touring with Queen an ideal way of achieving fame in America.
Although the prospect appealed to May and Taylor at first, they ultimately decided Williams would be the wrong choice to succeed Mercury, who died from an AIDS-related illness in 1991.
Taylor says, "I think America appealed to him and he... I think he was sort of quite keen on the idea at one point, and it did seem like a good idea.
"And then I think we all sort of drew back a little - thought about it a little harder, and then thought, 'Maybe not,' you know."
May adds, "We got close with Robbie... yeah. Absolutely. Yeah, we talked to him, but not in an auditioning kinda way. We just thought, 'Wouldn't it be fun if we did something.'
"We kind of talked about it and talked about it and came close but..."
Former FREE and BAD COMPANY vocalist PAUL RODGERS has been recruited to sing for Queen on their forthcoming tour.

Robbie close to Queen role
Robbie Williams came close to replacing Freddie Mercury as Queen's new vocalist, two of the band's surviving members have admitted.
Robbie, who recorded a version of Queen's We Are The Champions for the 2001 movie A Knight's Tale, was keen to tour the US with the band, drummer Roger Taylor has revealed.
"I think America appealed to him and he... I think he was sort of quite keen on the idea at one point, and it did seem like a good idea, and then I think we all sort of drew back a little - thought about it a little harder, and then thought 'Maybe not', you know," Taylor told
Capital Gold radio.
Guitarist Brian May said: "We got close with Robbie... yeah. Absolutely. Yeah, we talked to him, but not in an auditioning kinda way. We just thought 'Wouldn't it be fun if we did something'.
"We kind of talked about it and talked about it and came close but..."
Former Free and Bad Company vocalist Paul Rodgers will front Queen when the veteran group tour for the first time since Mercury's death from an Aids-related illness in 1991.
Queen's third surviving member bass player John Deacon has not rejoined the band because he doesn't want the "stress" of touring, May said.
Rodgers says they are currently rehearsing Free's Alright Now and Feel Like Makin' Love and Bad Company's Can't Get Enough Of Your Love in their set.
Last week Queen announced they will play Hyde Park on Friday, July 8. Queen begin their first UK tour in 19 years at the Newcastle Arena on May 3.

Singstar Goes Popworld
Sony's drunk-pleasing sing 'em up making a return this May, complete with Popworld branding
There are two types of people in this world: Those who think Sony's PS2 karaoke smash SingStar was the best thing since bacon crisps; and those who would rather stick a biro into their vocal chords than mumble into a mic when they could be playing San Andreas.
The first bunch will be trilling with glee at the news that Sony has announced a new addition to the SingStar series in the shape of SingStar Popworld, due for release on PS2 in May. The second lot should listen up - we've found that SingStar lubricated by copious amounts of funny fizzy pop is the best game ever.
Strangely enough, it's one of the few games that you get better at as you get increasingly hammered, since it measures the pitch, rhythm and tone of your singing voice.
SingStar Popworld promises a fresh new look and 30 new tracks from all your favourite teenybopper-bothering bands like Avril Lavigne, McFly, The Black Eyed Peas, Keane, and Robbie Williams.
There's a new Medley Mode that chucks short song segments at you ultra fast, and a new "Rap Scoring" feature that lets you bust some rhymes... Actually, we couldn't sum it up in more 'street' fashion than Sony itself: "Gain extra points as you battle against your crew to see who is the master of the mic with the ultimate MC showdown!"
Straight outta Compton!
But potentially the best thing about SingStar Popworld is that, as the name would suggest, it's linked in with the Popworld TV show. Crown prince of sarcastic bastardry Simon Amstell and microskirted be'atch-foil Miquita Oliver will feature in the intro movie and apparently show the game off on the telly, no doubt while surreptitiously taking the piss on an epic scale. We love you Popworld!
SingStar Popworld will be available in May and will include two microphones.
