BERLIN (Reuters) - Robbie Williams hurt his wrist in a soccer match with a local Berlin club before a Sunday concert to launch his first album in two years, a source close to the singer said on Saturday.
"He hurt it while playing football. He had it checked out but it was fine and wasn't broken," the source said by telephone in London.
There was no suggestion the sell-out concert in the 7,500 capacity Velodrom would be cancelled.
The Berliner Morgenpost newspaper quoted BFC Preussen manager Karlheinz Ulbrich as saying the pop star, an avid soccer fan, had his wrist checked in hospital after slipping during a friendly match with the club in south Berlin on Friday.
Sunday's concert launching the album "Intensive Care" will be simultaneously broadcast live as the first "cinecast" in high definition to 27 cinemas and special venues across Europe.
Williams told a news conference on Friday before the mishap his biggest fear was not being able to play soccer anymore.
