Bayern invite Robbie Williams to training session

Quoted from: http://today.reuters.co.uk/

BERLIN (Reuters) - Robbie Williams has been invited to train with Bayern Munich while he is in the Bavarian capital for a series of concerts this week, the club's sporting director Uli Hoeness was quoted saying on Monday.
"Naturally we'll invite Robbie Williams to join us," Hoeness told German reporters travelling with the team for a test match in Japan against the Urawa Red Diamonds on Monday.
Williams' management had earlier asked Bayern Munich whether it would be possible to take part in a workout.
Williams, who practised with a local soccer team in Berlin during a previous concert stay, was given three choices to practise with the defending Bundesliga champions: Tuesday, Thursday or Friday.

Sky HD orders break the 90,000 barrier

'High-definition popularity surpasses expectations
Jane Hoskyn, vnunet.com 31 Jul 2006

Sky claims to have taken 90,000 orders for its high-definition Sky HD TV service.
Some 38,00 UK homes had been kitted out with Sky HD by the end of June, and the company hopes to install all 90,000 orders by September.
Sales of HD-ready televisions are also buoyant. According to market research firm GFK, 2.7 million HD-ready sets are expected to be sold by the end of 2006, up from an initial forecast of 1.4 million.
Sky HD began its first installations in the UK and Ireland on 22 May. Viewers benefit from a cinema-like experience, with four times the picture detail of standard definition.
The digital satellite broadcaster now offers 10 dedicated high-definition channels in the UK, including Sky One HD, Sky Sports HD, and two Sky Movies HD channels. The BBC also runs a free-to-air channel, BBC HD, on Sky channel 145.
"We are really pleased with the take up of Sky HD which has exceeded expectations," said Hilary Perchard, head of product marketing at Sky HD.
"We are looking forward to an exciting year ahead with lots of great HD content in the pipeline including the exclusive Robbie Williams concert, a Star Wars HD marathon and Sky Sports HD's amazing summer of sports."
Sky recently announced its first high-definition live music broadcast in the UK, with Sky One and Sky One HD set to air a Robbie Williams concert on 9 September.
Sky Sports HD plans to screen live coverage of events including the 2006 Ryder Cup, Guinness Premiership Rugby and Barclays Premiership football.'

Robbie wants to rock Ibiza

Quoted from: http://www.dailysnack.co.uk/

'27/07/06
ROBBIE Williams is in talks to play Ibiza Rocks after deciding it's the ideal way to reinvent himself as an electro-music meister.
Both Robbie and Manumission want to make it happen and are feverishly thrashing around dates to keep everyone happy.
Robbie is in the middle of his hefty Close Encounters tour but is drawn to returning to Ibiza, where he fled after leaving Take That. A source said: "Robbie has no memory of being in Ibiza. He went there soon after splitting with the Take That boys. He was deep in the midst of depression and battling against his addiction to drink and drugs. Now that he's clean and the island has been building a reputation away from the club scene where the naughty people he used to associate with hang out, he wants to go back."
Robbie's worked with the Pet Shop Boys, DJ Mark Ronson and producer William Orbit, 49, on his as yet untitled album to create a club crossover vibe.
And the source added: "Robbie's been impressed at Ibiza Rocks staging live music. He likes the idea of turning up under an alias and doing a set from his new electro album."'

Robbie Williams has extended an open invitation to a fan known as 'blonde slag' to come along to any of his concerts and have sex with him.

Quoted from: http://www.pr-inside.com

'Movie & Entertainment News provided by bangshowbiz.biz
2006-07-25 09:45:59 -

The singer has been the subject of heated debate on popular website myspace.com among fans who claim they have bedded him on his current 'Close Encounters' world tour.
Robbie, who is alleged to have slept with a bevy of beauties in between shows, insists he has never met most of the girls comparing notes but insists he would like to.
He told Britain's Radio 1: "I've heard about this Swedish girl who has been rating me on Myspace. If she wants to come along any of my shows then she is welcome. I think she is calling herself 'blonde slag'. But, you know, if she's going to talk about it then we might as well do it!" Despite the rumours about his alleged wild bedroom antics, including seducing a medical student after picking her out of the crowd at a show, Robbie claims he has been a "good lad" on his current tour - so far.
He added: "I've been quite a good lad. I've been watching a lot of DVDs and playing football. But the tour is still young, as I am, and I'm sure I will go plundering at some point."'

Rat's it for rodent Williams

Quoted from: http://www.sun.co.uk

'BIZARRE readers have blasted singer ROBBIE WILLIAMS' new single Rudebox, saying it sounds like telly puppet ROLAND RAT.

When I first heard the single I thought it was terrible - as I revealed in Saturday's paper.

Now judge for yourself. Click here to listen to listen to a clip of Rudebox and the original tune it samples, Sly and Robbie’s 1983 hit Boops (Here To Go).

About 90 per cent of Robbie fans who got in touch with me agree that it's awful.

Ben Scarr slammed it, saying: 'Rudebox sounds like Roland Rat's 1983 hit Rat Rapping. It's the worst song released by a major artist in the history of pop music.'

And Kev in Edinburgh went one step further: 'Biggest pile of rubbish I've ever heard! A complete joke.

'Robbie's been going downhill since he parted company with song-writer GUY CHAMBERS - this is just rock bottom.

'I think OASIS should give him back the wreath he gave them a few years ago. Robbie Williams R.I.P.' It seems even Robbie's most loyal followers have given him a bashing too.

Sandra in Melbourne, Australia, said: 'How the hell can us RW fans sing along to THAT! Disappointing.'

Alicia Beattie added: 'It is shockingly c*** and has the most random lyrics. 'TK Maxx costs less, Jackson looks a mess.' It sounds like something a child has come up with.'

Anthony Doyle chipped in: 'I felt like ripping out my eardrums and throwing them at the radio. I think Robbie has lost his touch.'

However, Tom from Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire, said: 'I'm no Robbie fan but Rudebox is quality, really funky cutting-edge stuff, much better than soppy ballads! Good on ya.'

Robbie defended Rudebox yesterday when he called Radio 1 DJ SCOTT MILLS live on air.

He said: 'The single has polarised opinion. A lot of people hate it, lots of people love it. The same happened with (my 2004 single) Radio.'

When Scott asked if criticism of the track hurt him he replied: 'Yes it bothers me. I love this record and I'm really proud of it so yes. It's my track and I love it to death.'

Robbie also rounded up other showbiz big guns to back him up.

CHRIS MOYLES (who is a mate of Robbie) said on his Breakfast Show yesterday: 'I can't decide. I've only heard it once. Whether it's good or bad I just don't know yet.

'I don't think it's rubbish, I just think it's odd. I think it's very odd.

'I so want him to get back with Guy Chambers. I miss those songs. He's probably bored of it and thinks it's twee but I like it.' VERNON KAY (who doesn't know the singer) said: 'The new Robbie record is a step in a different direction for him.

'It sounds slightly like he's taking the mickey out of British R&B with the accent he's putting on! Now I've heard it a few times, it's really grown on me.'

But Radio 1's EDITH BOWMAN (who has known Rob for years) said: 'I was really disappointed with Robbie's last album, but it's nice to see him challenge himself.

'I'm not a big fan of the first single but some of the other tracks on the album are really interesting.'

I told you on Saturday that I reckoned Robbie would refuse to send me the rest of his album for review because I slated the single.

I'm still waiting for the album - perhaps the Robster's running scared.'

Bitchy Robbie

Quoted from: http://www.mirror.co.uk/

'Eva Simpson & Caroline Hedley
ROBBIE Williams is either a very brave or a very foolish man.
The singer is risking the wrath of Madonna's husband Guy Ritchie by raking over the past on a track on his controversial new album.
Both dated leggy TV presenter Tania Strecker - Ritchie before he met Madonna and the Robster after the film director ditched her.
Now Robbie has plundered his own relationship with Tania for material on his experimental album Rudebox74, to be released later this year - but then he seems to have gone further.
Music industry insiders tell us the track She's Madonna is based on an alleged conversation Guy had with Tania when he left her.
According to her version of events, the man behind hit movies Lock, Stock and Snatch ended their romance with the words: "Look, you know I really love you, but she's Madonna."
Our man behind the mixing desk reveals: "It seems Robbie always had this conversation in the back of his mind for a song.
"Probably without realising the subject matter behind the song, Madge gave She's Madonna the thumbs-up when Robbie personally played it to her at her London home earlier this summer.
"No doubt he'll be keeping his fingers crossed that she'll agree to appear in the video when it's a single early next year." The track - a duet with Neil Tennant of the Pet Shop Boys - is already being described as a pop masterpiece.
When unlucky-in-love Robbie, 32, dated Tania back in 2000 it looked as if he'd finally found someone he wanted to settle down with. But he ended the romance after four months because of the stress that it was causing him.
When Ritchie dated the 6ft blonde earlier she described him as the "love of her life" and was devastated when he ditched her for the Queen of Pop.
She said at the time: "Guy knew the best of me and the worst of me, and we still ended up becoming lovers. And then, it didn't work out.
"I always knew I wasn't as important to Guy as his career. He is great, but he needs a very strong woman to get through to him. But it's not so much he's Madonna's match as she's his."
A source adds: "Guy's not going to be happy that all this is being dredged up again. Although everyone concerned has moved on, it's a bit out of order that Robbie has used it as the basis for one of his songs. Surely he has enough stuff to write about."
Robbie's electro-pop album, due for release at the end of September, is his most experimental to date. Rudebox had its first official airplay today, although Radio 1's Scott Mills broke the embargo and played it on Friday.
The track - being released on September 4 - has been given the thumbs-up by fans who have heard it.
As with a lot of Robbie's material, it has references to sex and drugs. But somehow we doubt if Mr Ritchie will be dashing out to buy a copy.'

UK split over rude Rob

Quoted from: http://www.thesun.co.uk/

'IT SEEMS I've split the nation by declaring ROBBIE WILLIAMS' new single Rudebox is the worst record that I've ever heard.
Radio One gave the track its first play - and DJ JK agreed with me.
He said: 'It sounds like Do The Bartman. Someone else compared it with Gazza's Fog On The Tyne. Ooof!'
Virgin Radio's BEN JONES told listeners: 'The Sun's Victoria Newton says Robbie's new song is the worst ever - and if it's that bad I don't know if we'll be playing it.'
And Manchester's Key 103FM DJ SPENCER MacDONALD will air the track - but for laughs.
He said: 'I'll play it on the Sunday comedy slot.'
While many Sun readers emailed to back my damning verdict - quite a few Robster die-hards kept the faith.
Robbie fan Deborah Whitehurst said: 'This is rap with a c! It's complete toilet waste.'
But Dee said: 'I didn't think it was that bad.'
And Caroline McKenzie said: 'I don't like Robbie normally - but the new song is brilliant!'

EXTRAVAG-ANT!

Quoted from: http://www.mirror.co.uk

'EXCLUSIVE HE SPLASHES OUT THOUSANDS ON WEDDING VENUE AND PLAYS GOLF WITH ROBBIE WILLIAMS TO EASE HIS JITTERS

Eva Simpson & Caroline Hedley
ANT McPartlin decided to swing when you're wedding - he spent his last day as a bachelor playing golf with Robbie Williams.
The TV star marries his long-term love, make-up artist Lisa Armstrong, this afternoon, followed by a reception at swanky Cliveden House, Berks.
But instead of using his last day of freedom to get sozzled or visit a strip club, Ant spent it on the golf course with Robbie, his best man and showbiz partner Declan Donnelly and friend Jonathan Wilkes.
Wearing shades, 30-year-old Ant looked nervous when his chauffeurdriven car arrived at the magnificent stately home yesterday afternoon.
He told his mates that he'd got pre-wedding day jitters. But they made sure he wouldn't scream: "I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Altar Here!" by taking him to play golf.
Wilkes was overheard saying: "Relax, mate, we'll hit the course and that will calm you down."
Our spy reveals: "Ant was really smiley but very nervous. It was Jonathan who suggested they play golf to ease his nerves."
Lisa, 29, also chilled out - by having a pampering session at Cliveden's luxurious spa room. Maybe Ant's jitters are to do with what the sumptuous wedding is costing.
He's splashed out £30,000 a night to hire Cliveden for the celebrations. The actual ceremony is taking place at St Nicholas church in Taplow, presided over by the Rev Alan Dibden.
And he won't be raking it back from celebrity mags - they shunned offers to cover their big day, insisting it was all about friends and family.
The only celebs expected at their nuptials are Phillip Scofield and Cat Deeley. Not even Robbie will be there - he'll be performing at the San Siro stadium in Milan instead.
But he made sure the happy couple have something nice to remember him by.
Before turning up for golf yesterday, he popped into Bond Street jewellers Graff and spent thousands of pounds on a wedding gift.
Robbie's pal tells us: "We tried to work out if he could fly back after the gig, but he wouldn't get there until 3am. But with him anything's possible. We wouldn't be surprised if he popped out of the wedding cake."
Now that would be the icing on the cake for Ant and Lisa's big day!
The venue for the ceremony is the picturesque St Nicholas parish church, which dates back to 1273 and is steeped in history. It houses the tombs of the original Cliveden House owner, Sir Robert Manfeld, and family.'

She's the one, & so is she

Quoted from: http://www.thesun.co.uk/

'By LUCY HAGAN RANDY Robbie Williams has been romping with TWO models - and struggling to keep them apart.
One is a Slovakian blonde called Michaela, the second is a leggy American named Jessica.
Robbie's antics have tickled aides on his European tour. Jessica has been with the 32-year-old singer in Budapest, Hungary, and will join him in Milan, Italy, for tonight's gig.
She is then due to leave Robbie and return to the US.
Within hours, Michaela is set to arrive from Slovakia to share his bed again.
It seems Robbie can't follow the lines of his own hit She's The ONE. A tour insider said: 'The road crew are worried the pair will bump into each other in Italy if Robbie doesn't get his timings exactly right.
'In Amsterdam and Copenhagen, he was with Michaela and in Germany and Budapest he was with Jessica. So far he's got away with it But he's pushing his luck having them in the same city, same day.
'If they find out about each other it will be like a cat fight with no holds barred.''

Robbie single worst EVER

Quoted from: http://www.thesun.co.uk

'ROBBIE WILLIAMS' new track Rudebox is not only the worst song by him I've heard, it's the worst record I've EVER heard (and believe me, I've had to listen to some sh*te in the past).
I'm not allowed to put the track on a phone line for legal reasons, but to give you an idea of what it’s like, try to imagine you and your mates messing around in your bedroom with a drum machine while comedy 'rapping' over the top.
The only difference is Robbie is actually allowed to release this rubbish because he has a record deal. It shouldn't be allowed on grounds of taste.
Whereas Madonna and Kylie came up with brilliant tracks such as Music and Slow when they branched out from pop to dance, Robbie's attempt is a tuneless electro dirge that sounds like someone randomly slapping all the presets on a cheap Casio keyboard.
When he's rapped on records in the past, Robbie has got away with it because he's then sung a rousing or catchy chorus which is the climax of the song.
But I'm afraid Rudebox has him 'rapping' all the way through. Frankly it's a load of, um, 'rap.
Don't get me wrong - I'm a huge fan of Robbie's music. Angels, Come Undone, Rock DJ, No Regrets, Millennium and the genius Feel are all modern classics which will stand the test of time.
And I thought his performances at Knebworth and Live 8 were world-class - he's a sensational showman.
But I'm sorry - this record is probably one of the worst in history. Actually, it is THE worst in history.
No doubt Robbie will be so incensed at this review that he will slap a ban on me being sent the rest of the album ahead of its release. I'll let you know if he does.
In the past he's not taken kindly to criticism.
Rudebox is taken from his new dance album, 1974, which I've heard has some great material on it.
He's worked with the PET SHOP BOYS, DJ MARK RONSON and brilliant producer WILLIAM ORBIT on it and I hope the CD's other tracks make up for this truly awful single.
Rudebox? Rudeb****x more like.'

Rob wants Ibiza da action

Quoted from: http://www.thesun.co.uk

'ROBBIE WILLIAMS is heading to the dance capital of the world to launch his new album.
The Rock DJ is set to unleash 1974, his new techno album, on unsuspecting ravers in Ibiza.
I hear Radio 1 want Robbie to be a surprise guest on their week-long broadcast from there that starts on August 6.
A source told me: 'They desperately want to get Robbie to launch his new album as a guest on PETE TONG's show. But it looks like he will be heading out to Ibiza on Saturday 12 instead for the daytime shows with VERNON KAY or COLIN & EDITH. Rudebox - the first single - is out on September 4 so it would be ideal timing.'
If Robbie sticks to his plans, he will follow in the footsteps of P DIDDY.
The blingin' rapper launched his dance album at the rave nation in 2003.
But Let’s Get Ill made people sick of his new musical direction and after flop sales he soon reverted back to R&B.
Robbie describes 1974 - which he wrote with Stoke-on-Trent pals SOUL MEKANIK aka DANNY SPENCER and KELVIN ANDREWS, as: 'A nasty, dirty, bass-infused electro-funk-pop monster.'
He added: 'They might say its 'dance' or it's 'electro' but it's just what I like!
'It started off as a busman’s holiday this time around, but it’s become something in which I've found myself.'
I just hope Robbie has better luck than P Diddy did in Ibiza.'

'ROBBIE Williams's reported romp with a groupie is to be immortalised - as a PORN FILM.
A woman called Noeemi, who claims she had a marathon romp with the 31-year-old singer last year, will star in One Night With Robbie. It is due to be released in October.
Noeemi, from Basle, Swizterland, said: 'It's fantastic. I have no problems with erotic scenes.''

Robbie Williams: Rudebox

Quoted from: http://www.dancefrontdoor.co.uk

'Robbie Williams returns to business with the release of a brand new single 'RUDEBOX' on September 4th on EMI Records. 'RUDEBOX' is the first single to be taken from his forthcoming new studio album, which will follow soon after. 'RUDEBOX' is a nasty, dirty, bass infused electro-funk-pop monster produced and written with fellow Stoke On Trent natives/compadres Soul Mekanik aka Danny Spencer & Kelvin Andrews.
'RUDEBOX is wonky pop music, influenced by the underground,' says Andrews, 'It was just three lads from Stoke having fun in the studio, no rules and no knobheads.' Forged around a sample from Sly & Robbie's seminal 'Boops (Here To Go)' and twisted around his own unique visceral lyrical stylings, the result is the sound of our Rob jamming the electro-boogaloo on a bustling New York street corner in 1983. The sound is unmistakably fresh, and unmistakably Robbie Williams! It could be no other.
'RUDEBOX is loads of different things, sometimes it could be a vibe delivered in a spaceship direct to the studio, sometimes it's a really nasty girl dancing scantily clad, or sometimes it's a giant Soundsystem... Sometimes it's actually just a box that tells you to fuck off! too' adds RW.
'RUDEBOX' sets the tone for the album which as previously reported also see's Robbie collaborating with the likes of The Pet Shop Boys, William Orbit and Mark Ronson and a host of others, on both new original compositions and covers of some of his favourite tracks. This is perhaps the most definitive Robbie Williams opus to date, where his truest personal and musical inspirations collide to create an intimate and explorative sound that will surprise some, but after eight albums, this here is the sound of Robert Peter Williams, born 1974 in Stoke On Trent, UK.
'They might say its 'dance' or it's 'electro' but it's just what I like! It started off as a busman's holiday this time around, but it’s become something on which I've found myself. I was just doing my YTS up till now,' he adds.
'RUDEBOX' has begun to blaze a trail of its own right on dancefloors across the world, with early mixes and dubs from the likes of Soul Mekanik, Chicken Lips & Riton already receiving support from the likes of Pete Tong (Radio1), James Hyman (XFM), and DJ luminaries as broad as Sasha, John Digweed, Trevor Jackson, Erol Alkan, Boris Dlugosch & Sarah Main to name but a handful. The initial white-label release has already charted in the highly respected Buzz, Cool Cuts & Zzub club charts and continues to grow on a daily basis.
RW is in the midst of his record-breaking 'Close Encounters' World tour that hits the UK in September.
Do the RUDEBOX, get your rocks off, lose your shit and get nasty... 'RUDEBOX' is released on EMI Records on September 4th 2006.'

Robbie Williams announces new single

Robbie Williams will release brand new single 'Rudebox' On September 4.
It is the first single to be taken from his as-yet-untitled new album, the follow up to 2005's 'Intensive Care'.
In a statement Robbie explained the meaning of the title: "'Rudebox' is loads of different things, sometimes it could be a vibe delivered in a spaceship direct to the studio, sometimes it's a really nasty girl dancing scantily clad, or sometimes it's a giant soundsystem...Sometimes it's actually just a box that tell you to fuck off too."
The forthcoming album, which will be his seventh studio LP, is set to feature collaborations with Madonna producer William Orbit and The Pet Shop Boys who previously collaborated with Williams on his 1998 single 'No Regrets'.

Perlman: 'Williams would be a US hit - if he had called me'

Quoted from: http://contactmusic.com

'ROBBIE WILLIAMS failed in America because he wasn't marketed properly, US music mogul LOU PERLMAN insists. Perlman - the man behind BACKSTREET BOYS and 'N SYNC - boasts he could have helped Williams and his former boy band TAKE THAT become hits in the US, if he had been hired by their record label. Perlman says, "There's a reason why Take That and Robbie Williams didn't blow up in the United States. "They blew up everywhere else in the world but they didn't blow up here. You know why? Because they didn't call me. "It's all about marketing. We have a very good approach at getting our talent out there. Schools, different places where kids hang out."

Robbie: After you, Justin

Quoted from: http://www.thesun.co.uk

'ROBBIE WILLIAMS has bottled out of a chart showdown with man of the moment JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE.
The Prince Of Pop has delayed his new album release - called 1974 - so it won't go head-to-head with Justin's latest, FutureSex: LoveSounds.
Both CDs were due out on September 11 but now Robbie has held his back until the beginning of October.
It's a surprise move by Robbie. I hear he has his best and most experimental album to date up his sleeve.
And the delay could now mean a chart battle with THE KILLERS.
A source said: 'Taking on Timberlake would have been madness but The Killers will still provide some serious competition.'
I get the feeling Robbie's on autopilot on his Close Encounters tour.
But his fans shouldn't be too disheartened.

Justin and Cam ... 'not ready to marry'
Picture: MATRIX

I've got my hands on details of 1974, named after the year Robbie was born, and it sounds like a return to form.
The first single, Rudebox, comes out in September, followed by Lovelight - which I hear is Robbie at his best - in December.
He has also recorded two rap-style tracks called The 80s and The 90s, about his days in TAKE THAT.
One shocking lyric describes how he'd like to cut former manager Nigel Martin-Smith's eyes with a Stanley knife, says a record label source.
Two more amazing songs are The Actor, inspired by his hero DAVID BOWIE and She's Madonna - which I told you on Saturday the Queen Of Pop loves.
Robbie has also recorded a tribute to NEIL TENNANT and CHRIS LOWE called We're The Pet Shop Boys, written by US synth guru MY ROBOT FRIEND.
There are two cover versions on the album: Kiss Me, a hit for Robbie's right-hand man STEPHEN DUFFY and THE HUMAN LEAGUE'S Louise, which Robbie has said is one of his favourite songs.
LILY ALLEN sings backing vocals on two tracks.
With PET SHOP BOYS production and great tracks, I think it's a shame Robbie's not squaring up to Timberlake.
Meanwhile, Justin says he's not yet ready to marry girlfriend CAMERON DIAZ as he's too focused on his career.
He said: 'I'm way too young. I enjoy what I do but it's hard to have a plan when you're 25 - especially for the next couple of years, when half of my life will be devoted to what I'm promoting.'
Speaking to Radio 1's SCOTT MILLS, the singer also feared a blast from Britain's No1 paper if he hogs the limelight too long.
He said: 'That's going to be the front page of The Sun. It's going to be 'GO AWAY JUSTIN' when I am 53 years old, with a turkey neck, talking about 'I just wanna love you baby.' ' '

Scoring with Robbie

'MALAYSIAN fans of Robbie Williams will get a chance to watch him perform, for one night only, in Singapore on Nov 18. The Asian leg of his world tour, Robbie Williams: Close Encounters, will culminate at the National Stadium.

Robbie Williams will be perfoming in Singapore on Nov 18.Promoter Michael Hosking said “the world’s favourite entertainer and most dynamic showman ever seen”, will also perform in Bangkok and Hong Kong for the first time in five years, and play dates in India and China for the first time ever.
Billed as the biggest musical event in Singapore this millennium, Williams looks set to ignite the famous “Kallang Roar” for possibly the last time at the stadium, where plans are underway for demolition.
According to Hosking, “the last time Robbie staged a concert in Singapore in 2001, all 10,000 tickets were sold out in a few days.
The show was fantastic and we anticipate a similar ticket sales trend, especially given the fact how spectacular this show is and how his fan base has increased ten-fold in the last five years”.
Fans who have kept the faith can expect an amazing show complete with six-storey high stage, 35 tonnes worth of pyrotechnics, lights and video walls, a roof specially brought in from Australia as well as assigning a crew of 400 for the whole production.
“Singapore is looking forward to an electrifying performance by this natural showman and iconic pop personality.
The city has always been a must-stop destination for many of the world's best acts in the performing arts and music scene and we are excited to welcome Robbie Williams back, as well as his fans from the region,” says Oliver Chong, director, Singapore Tourism Board.
The World Tour started in Dublin on June 9 and visits 14 countries on 44 different dates and will finish in Australia.
It is estimated his live audience will total 2.6 million.

Robbie's Iceland maiden

Quoted from: http://www.people.co.uk

'New blonde conquest on world tour
Debbie Manley & Alice Walker

ROBBIE WILLIAMS has spent the night with a second stunning blonde - this time a cool Icelandic beauty.
The pop superstar, 32, met up with SNAEDIS GUDNADOTTIR after his sell-out gig in the Danish capital of Copenhagen.
Just last week we revealed his night of passion with Swedish doctor MARIE ANNERSTEDT, 25, on his Close Encounters world tour as well as romps with FOUR other girls.
Now Snaedis - dubbed Robbie's Little Red Riding Hood - has confirmed her close encounter at the swanky Skt Petri hotel.
But the financial analyst was coy about the details.
She told ViP: "What went on with me and Robbie, that's between me and him, just how it should be. As always what happens between a man and woman is a private thing."
Sources close to Snaedis believe the singer will be more than just a one-night stand.
A pal said: "She is a very discreet girl and is giving little away about her night of passion. But she is under the impression he will return."
However, earlier this week it was rumoured that Rob has started a little black book to keep track of his conquests.
He joked: "It's a running joke how hard it is for me to pull. But my luck seems to have finally changed."
Next stop on the tour is Budapest on Wednesday. Will a Hungarian beauty end up in rhapsody?'

We will survive, says EMI over merger fears

Quoted from: http://www.timesonline.co.uk

'Alain Levy, head of recorded music, insists that even if the deal with Warner fails to come off, the group is now strong enough to thrive on its own.
John Arlidge reports

DON'T tell anyone about this, said Alain Levy, boss of EMI's recorded-music division, as he unlocked a black Hermès briefcase and took out an unmixed, copy-protected CD of Robbie Williams’s new album, Rudebox 1974, which will be released this autumn.
The 59-year-old Frenchman cranked up the volume and grinned like a proud father. 'This track's mixed by William Orbit, who did Ray of Light with Madonna,' he boasted. 'Robbie sings in French at the end of this one, y'know.' Levy and Williams are not related, but they do have a lot in common. A few years ago each was confronting disaster.
Williams was battling drug addiction. Levy was struggling to save a firm that was so badly run it was nicknamed 'Every Mistake Imaginable'.
What a difference a few years make. Robbie Williams is 'clean' and Rudebox 1974, which marks a Madonna-style conversion from rock to electronica, looks a sure-fire No 1.
Levy, too, has his eye on the top spot, in the business charts. EMI's bid to take over Warner Music is designed to create a company with the best new artists and the best back catalogue. 'It's a fantastic way to build a future ... and become the best music company in the world,' he said.
The proposed Anglo- American outfit would boast Madonna, Coldplay, Robbie Williams, Kylie Minogue, Norah Jones, Green Day and the Pet Shop Boys. The back catalogue would include the collected works of the Beatles and the Eagles.
The only problem is that ever since Levy and EMI chairman Eric Nicoli unveiled the bid, it has created enough angst to inspire a Coldplay box-set. Last week's unexpected ruling by the European Court of First Instance that annulled the decision by the European Commission, Europe's competition regulator, to approve the creation of Sony BMG two years ago is just the latest in a long line of setbacks.
Almost immediately after EMI launched its bid, Warner responded by making a counter offer of its own for EMI, which rejected the bid and raised its offer. Warner rejected the revised bid and raised its offer.
As the transatlantic bidding war intensified, rumours began to spread that Warner boss Edgar Bronfman had offered EMI’s chairman, Eric Nicoli, a job in any combined company but had frozen out Levy. The two men had fallen out almost a decade ago when Bronfman led the acquisition of PolyGram, Levy's former firm.
But however bad it gets - Levy conceded that the European ruling could make it impossible to convince the European Commission to approve a deal - he refuses to give up. In his Kensington office last week, only minutes after the European court ruling was published, he set about trying to smooth relations between EMI and Warner.
He dismissed as 'utter nonsense' reports that Nicoli would stay on after any US takeover, while he would be forced to quit. 'There has been no discussion like that,' he said. When he first heard the rumours he thought they were so funny that he e-mailed Nicoli to tell him he'd heard that he, Nicoli, had got a job as Bronfman's chauffeur.
Levy pooh-poohed claims that he and Bronfman could not work together after the latter's 1998 purchase of PolyGram. 'To see it as a big fight of two egos, that's total nonsense.'
He conceded that the personal chemistry between the pair had 'not been right' after the PolyGram sale. They had “hours of discussions” after the deal was signed and Bronfman offered him a job, as the head of music in the new joint company. 'But I felt that I would be miserable and he probably would be miserable and it would end in tears.'
Levy quit instead and joined EMI’s recorded-music division in 2001.
He insisted that his relationship with Bronfman was amicable. 'He might have changed since. I might have changed since. I see Edgar socially at functions and we talk, absolutely. Have we ever said anything bad about each other? No.'
Far from quitting, Levy hinted that he would like to be head of music in any new Anglo-American outfit.
'Would I like to be here for the next five years continuing to build what I have built out of something that was in pretty bad shape? I have a total passion for my job.'
Although EMI made the first move in the transatlantic takeover battle, tabling a bid for Warner at $28.50 a share, later revised upward to $31, valuing the company at £2.5 billion, Levy said that if a Warner takeover of EMI created greater shareholder value than an EMI takeover of Warner, he would support it.
'I am paid to create shareholder value, but the price has to be right. What Warner can't do is try to buy us on the cheap.'
EMI directors are said to have dismissed Warner's offers of 310p and 315p a share, that value EMI at £2.6 billion, as laughable. 'We certainly would not write that word but it might have been said,' Levy said with a smile.
Five years ago EMI looked like it might have to merge with the likes of Warner to stave off bankruptcy. In common with the music industry as a whole, it was struggling to cope with illegal digital downloads, CD piracy and falling CD and singles sales. It was overstaffed, and budgets were, by Levy’s own admission, bloated. Between January 2000 and September 2001 the company lost 65% of its market value.
After firing 1,800 staff and 400 artists, slashing £150m off the company's annualised fixed costs and cracking down on illegal downloading while embracing new legal digital distribution systems - notably Itunes and Napster, ringtones for mobile phones and soundtracks for computer games - EMI’s revenues returned to growth last year for the first time since 2000.
Like the music industry in general, EMI is now, Levy said, out of the woods. 'We have taken the lesson that you cannot ignore the consumer. There is a business model. People want more music. But they want the music in different ways. We have to find ways to monetise it.'
A Warner/EMI deal would speed the company’s recovery by cutting £200m of back- office costs from the new business and expanding the artist repertoire, particularly in the US where EMI has been weak until recently. But even if the deal with its new dance partner does fall through, Levy insists that EMI will still thrive.
'A deal would create value but, if it doesn’t happen, we'll create value in a different way to become the best music company in the world. There's nothing structurally wrong. We have a 14% market share, so we are sitting at the top table.'
And EMI can bring some of the world's best talent to that table. Last month Levy took Kylie to Elton John’s White Tie and Tiara Ball to celebrate the Australian singer's comeback after successfully battling breast cancer.
'She is back in the studio recording and is starting her tour where she left it. I told her I might go, but her manager said he might not be able to get me tickets.' Does he have a secret CD of Kylie's he can play, like that of Robbie Williams? 'It's too early,' he said. 'She' gone through a hell of an experience but she is at the top of her form, I can tell you.'
Whatever happens in the transatlantic takeover saga that has already had more comebacks than The Who, you get the feeling that Levy will still be sitting in his Kensington office playing his Robbie and Kylie CDs and grinning like a doting dad.'

Robbie's secret diary of sex hits

Quoted from: http://www.dailystar.co.uk/

'14/07/06
RANDY Robbie Williams is keeping all the details of his red-hot lovers in a little black book.
The saucy singer, 32, has made four conquests in the past week during his Close Encounters world tour.
And now he has started a saucy tour journal recording their names, contact details, descriptions and ratings for their romps in a book of Sin, Sin, Sin.
Our spy revealed: "Robbie has so many one-night stands, he can't keep track of who he's slept with. So he decided to start a book detailing his conquests so he can cherish the memories."
He also wants to keep in touch with some of the girls and hook up with them next time he's in town."
So the notebook helps him remember which ones he might want to meet in future, and what they were like in the bedroom."
The ex-Take That sex god bedded two sisters in Gothenburg two weeks ago. And he halted a second concert at the Swedish venue to invite 25-year-old trainee doctor Marie Annerstedt back to his hotel to play doctors and nurses.
Proud Marie gushed: "We were up until five in the morning. Robbie asked me if I'd ever dress up as a naughty nurse for a man. "He kept cracking doctor jokes but after putting him through a full examination it was clear his body was in excellent working order."
The horny hunk moved on to Copenhagen last week, where he seduced a sexy Danish redhead.
And he finished the week with a two-hour romp with a mystery blonde Dane.
Robbie admitted his sex life has dramatically improved during his current tour.
He said: "It’s a running joke how hard it is for me to pull. But my luck seems to have finally changed." '

European Federation of Journalists supports German media boycott of Robbie Williams concerts

Urgency: Threat

(IFJ/IFEX) - The following is an 11 July 2006 media release of the European Federation of Journalists (EFJ), an IFJ regional group:

EFJ Supports German Media Boycott of Robbie Williams Concerts
The European Federation of Journalists (EFJ) today expressed its full support for a German media boycott of Robbie Williams's concerts after the singer banned some photographers from his shows and issued restrictions denying other photographers rights over their work.
"It is a shame that creative artists themselves violate photographers' rights in such a disgraceful way," said Renate Schroeder, Director of the European Federation of Journalists. "Such restrictions imposed on photographers clearly challenge the public's right to know about current events. Politicians and other artists should support journalists and media organisations in their fight for fair contracts for photojournalism."
Williams is requiring all photographers who take photos at his concerts to sign a contract giving up all rights over their work. The regional association in Saxony of the German Association of Journalists called the restrictions on photographers a "flagrant example of an immoral contract" and has called for a photo boycott.
German news agency Deutsche Presse Agentur has also called for a boycott of Williams's concerts after the singer banned agency photographers from his shows.
Today, the newspaper Dresdner Neueste Nachrichten ran its article on the July 10 Robbie Williams concert in Dresden without a photograph and instead left an empty space next to the story.
At its annual meeting earlier this year, the EFJ called upon its member unions to boycott events when artists force journalists to abide by unfair restrictions on their work. To date, journalists' unions and associations in Norway and Germany have been successful in boycotting such events.
Like the contract imposed by Robbie Williams's management, many contracts used by musicians throughout Europe make all photographs the property of the artist and give almost all copyright and authors' rights to the performer. These artists, including Williams, demand that photographs are taken only during the first three songs. The contracts also hold the photographers responsible for any use that contravenes those spelled out in the contract.
Earlier this year, the Norwegian Union of Journalists called a successful boycott by photographers and journalists of two Guns N' Roses concerts held in Oslo. The union called the boycott after the band's management tried to force photographers to sign contracts relinquishing their rights over their work. In June, the Norwegian union also boycotted two other bands performing at the Norwegian Wood festival in Oslo due to restrictive photo contracts.
In May, German newspapers boycotted a Bon Jovi concert in Stuttgart for similar reasons.
The EFJ represents over 260,000 journalists in more than 30 countries.'

Take Fatty: Pete joins boyband

Quoted from: http://www.people.co.uk

'9 July 2006
By Melanie Swan

COMEDIAN Peter Kay will replace Robbie Williams as the fifth member of reformed boyband Take That, the People can reveal.
The flabby funnyman will record a special Christmas single with the original four members later this year.
Kay, 33, is a big fan of the group and has seen them live in concert six times. They got the idea when he popped backstage to meet Gary, Howard, Jason and Mark at their recent Manchester gigs.
Kay was in Tony Christie's video for the single (Is This The Way To) Amarillo for Comic Relief last year.
An insider said: "Pete is very excited. The boys want Pete to appear on the disc and play their manager in a video.
"It's his dream - he's always been a massive fan of the band. He's hardly Robbie Williams in the sex symbol stakes but the fans will love him."
Williams, who has refused a reunion, was accused of being overweight in Take That's heyday.

Swedish medic tells of steamy night with Robbie

Quoted from: http://www.people.co.uk

'9 July 2006
By Nikhita Malajan

THE stunning medic seduced by pop superstar Robbie Williams has told how the randy singer begged her to play doctors and nurses as they romped in his hotel suite last week.
Speaking for the first time about her night of passion with the heart-throb during his Close Encounters world tour, sexy Swede Marie Annerstedt said: "Robbie just couldn't get enough.
"We were up till five in the morning. At one stage Robbie joked that because I was a doctor maybe a game of doctors and nurses could be fun.
"He then said he'd love to be the doctor so he could whip out his stethoscope while I played his sexy nurse.
"Robbie asked me if I'd ever dress up as a naughty nurse for a man and said he'd love to see me in an outfit.
"He kept cracking doctor jokes but after putting him through a full examination it was clear his body was in full working order."
But the star was so exhausted after their all-night romp Marie jokingly prescribed a day of bed rest for him to recover.
Robbie pulled life-long fan Marie, 25, by chatting her up from the stage during his sell out concert in Gothenberg, Sweden last Sunday night.
He spotted the busty babe dressed in a sexy strapless black and white polka dot dress as she stood at the front with the words "Snog Me, I'm A Doctor" scrawled in black eyeliner across her chest.
The 52,000 crowd watched in in amazement as he stopped the gig and asked stunned Marie: "Are you really a doctor?" before pointing at his crotch and adding naughtily "Do you want to examine this?"
He then joked to the audience:"I'm no gynaecologist but I'd like to give you a once over."
After dedicating his hit single Feel to Marie he invited her back to his third-floor suite at the city's five-star Elite Plaza Hotel.
Despite having a boyfriend of six months, Marie dashed to the hotel to offer Robbie, 32, a thorough physical - which he passed with flying colours.
Brainy Marie, who is studying for a Masters Degree in medicine and speaks five fluent languages, told a pal: "I was so excited about pulling Robbie I texted all my friends.
"After going back to his hotel I found him in the bar. He had clearly been waiting for me because he said how pleased he was that I had turned up.
"He led me by the hand up to his suite. It had three bedrooms, two Jacuzzis, two living rooms and a butler.
"As we looked at the biggest bathroom Robbie joked 'I've heard the Jacuzzi in that bath is world-famous, maybe we can check it out later?'
"He was being really attentive and kept telling me to relax as he played with my hair."
Robbie persuaded her to sing the lyrics to his hit single Let Me Entertain You in French, Swedish and German before leading her to his king-size bed. Marie told her pal: "As we moved into the main bedroom, he turned to me and kissed me gently on the lips.
"At first I tried to move my face away but the smell of his aftershave, the feeling of his skin so close and the warmth from his hands got too much.
"Robbie was fascinated by the fact I was a doctor or training to become one and said he'd never made love to one before - certainly not one as beautiful as me." And when it came to sex Marie was blown away by Robbie's stamina.
She confided to her close friend: "When we made love Robbie paid attention to every part of my body, touching and kissing her all over.
"The whole night was like a dream - a real fairytale come true." Thirsty from their passionate sex, Marie was desperate for a drink but Robbie kept no booze in his suite.
She said: "His suite was surprisingly tidy. All his clothes were still in his suitcases and he had his little toothbrush in a glass in the bathroom."
After making love till 5am Marie slept in his arms until they joined Robbie's pals for breakfast, including his best mate Jonathan Wilkes. Robbie was so smitten with Marie he let her accompany him to the airport from where he flew to Den-mark for his next gig in Copenhagen."
The blonde had been so desperate to meet the star she had queued up for the concert from 9am to bag a front row space.
After her night of passion became public, Marie sheepishly told all to her medical student boyfriend. Her friend said: "As much as he wants to punch Robbie's lights out, he knows what a big fan Marie is and how she needed to get this out of her system.
"After all what normal fella could compete with Robbie ?
"Marie has assured her boyfriend she's still very much in love with him despite her fling." In the last seven days Robbie has seduced FOUR GIRLS. On Thursday morning he was so worn down by his romps he had to have a vitamin injection in his bottom.
The night before scoring with Marie he pulled a pair of sisters in Gothenberg, although only one stayed over.
Then on Tuesday night he romped with a Danish redhead in Copenhagen before completing the set with a blonde Danish stunner. But despite Robbie's, love 'em and leave 'em attitude, Marie has - in the words of his hit single - No Regrets.
She told her pal: "It was a night I'll remember forever. Robbie's just awesome. What woman could say no? I certainly couldn't."
Last night a spokeman for Robbie said: "We have no comment to make."

Robbie Williams supports drug den

Quoted from: http://www.playfuls.com

'Controversial or not, Robbie Williams sure knows how to make the headlines, and that's most likely what he was going for as he started wearing a sweatshirt which declared his support for Copenhagen's Commune of Freetown Christiana, a place where drugs are used openly. This happened while the singer was touring Denmark and he got away for a short break. There has been recent friction about this particular area in Denmark's capital, as the government has had several attempts to have this place shut down and try to have a more strict control over the narcotics abuse.Williams was strolling through the section nicknamed 'Pusher Street', a place that is very well known for the ease with which one can find drugs, and residents there immediately welcomed the international star and gave him the grande tour. Robbie didn't hesitate to show off a sweatshirt with the words 'Bevar Christiana', meaning 'Save Christiana', on the front.
It's no mistery, the pop singer has not been a stranger to drugs, so the connection between the two was soon on everybody's lips. Actually, just to make things worse, Robbie really managed to shock anti-drug campaigners by saying he'd enjoyed the best times of his life while high on cocaine. '

Port Vale FC Honour Robbie Williams

Quoted from: http://www.gigwise.com

'Port Vale have paid tribute to Robbie Williams by naming a restaurant suite after him.
Robbie bought a 25% stake in the football club he has supported since childhood earlier this year, and now the team have decided to honour him back.
The suite will cost £275,000 and is part of a £7million redevelopment of the Stoke-on-Trent ground. Club chairman Bill Bratt told BBC news: "It will be a premium corporate area with a bar and restaurant and great views overlooking the surrounding area.""He has given his permission and was very happy and proud and said yes without any hesitation when we asked. Robbie Williams, the former Take That star who successfully sued the People and the Daily Star over claims that he was secretly gay, has been accused of hypocrisy after he joked that his footballer friend Robbie Savage, is gay. Williams told a packed Amsterdam Arena that he had news about the Blackburn Rovers star Savage. Williams said: 'he's coming out.' Cameras then focused on Savage, who is married with a son, displaying his face to 65,000 cheering fans. The Welsh international star told the Sun: 'I was so embarrassed. I'm a dad and happily married. 'I knew Robbie was up to something before the show but I still can't believe he did it in front of all those people. 'I'll get my own back.' In December of last year, Williams won an apology and undisclosed damages from MGN Ltd and Northern & Shell plc, who publish the People and the Daily Star respectively. William's barrister, Tom Shields QC, told the court that the singer 'is not, and has never been, homosexual.' The court heard that the People’s front page story,' Robbie's secret gay lover' insinuated that the star intended to mislead the public by claiming to be straight whilst in reality, the newspaper claimed that he engaged in gay sex with strangers. The newspaper further claimed that the singer had enticed a stranger into a toilet in a Manchester nightclub where he asked the man to perform a sexual act. The People also claimed that Mr Williams engaged in a gay sexual act with a stranger behind the club. Zoe Norden, solicitor for MGN and Northern & Shell, apologised on behalf of her clients: 'I accept that the allegations to which my friend has referred were untrue. The defendant apologises to the claimant and expresses its regret for the injury and distress caused.' Following the award of damages, the gay and human rights campaigner, Peter Tatchell claimed in a column for PinkNews.co.uk that William's 'legal action has created the impression he thinks it is shameful to be gay.' Adding: 'If he sees nothing wrong with being gay, why did he sue for libel?' Ben Summerskill, Chief Executive of the gay lobbying group Stonewall warned that William's latest outburst 'risks appearing hypocritical.' Mr Summerskill added: 'I know Robbie's explanation for mounting the case was that the tabloids made lurid suggestions suggesting that he had gay sex in public toilet. 'Clearly, when he launched his case, he wasn't very mindful of the damage that it does to suggest that there's something wrong with being gay.' '

What's up, Robbie?

Quoted from: http://www.thesun.co.uk

'ROBBIE WILLIAMS was so knackered after having too much sex on tour that he had to call a doctor.
I've been keeping you posted on his legendary swordsmanship in Scandinavia this week, a trip which has elevated him straight to the top of my Bizarre Shaggers League 2006.
Yesterday I told you the tally was up to three conquests for the week.
But Robbie - who is on the road with his appropriately named Close Encounters Tour - has enticed another young lady to enjoy his company.
It brought his score to FOUR women in FIVE days.
But all that lovemaking made him so weary he had to call for first aid on Thursday morning.
A doctor examined him and decided he needed an energy-boosting vitamin shot in his bum to make him fit enough for a gig that night.
He later told the crowd at Copenhagen's Parken national stadium in Denmark: 'I had to get a needle in my a*** this morning. It was because I didn't want to let you down, brothers and sisters.'
A few weeks ago Robbie was complaining that he couldn't find a girlfriend. Now he is back in the saddle big time.
Robbie pulled a pair of sisters in Gothenburg, Sweden, on Saturday - although only one of them stayed over.
On Sunday night he chatted up a blonde Swedish doctor who he spotted in the audience when he was on stage.
I've managed to get hold of the first picture of Marie Annerstedt who Robbie picked out after spotting she had scrawled Snog Me I'm a doctor across her ample chest.
Then, on Tuesday night, Robbie copped off with a redhead Dane in Copenhagen. The next evening, after the France v Portugal semi-final in the World Cup, Robbie picked up a cute blonde Danish girl. He is clearly enjoying his success with the fairer sex.
He joked about his groupie action during the gig on Wednesday, telling the 45,000 crowd: 'Did you read the paper today?
'It says I kissed a mystery red-haired girl in the hotel bar. I can only confirm the rumour. And she was very cute.
'Actually, I don't kiss on the first date - but she asked so nicely.'
Robbie's live show attracted former Manchester United and Denmark goalkeeping legend PETER SCHMEICHEL - as well as the country’s Crown Prince Frederick.
Meanwhile, I've been handed Robbie’s backstage rider for his Copenhagen gigs, and it makes amusing reading.
The star demands soft toilet paper, two deodorants, toothpicks, soap and two freshly laundered towels.
Well, he does need to keep well groomed for all those lovely Scandi-ladies.'

Robbie is Lover Supreme

'ROBBIE WILLIAMS is back in form again, leaping to the top of my Shaggers League 2006.
The singer scored with his THIRD woman of the week, racking up enough points to knock pop posh boy JAMES BLUNT off top spot.
After watching Italy beat Germany in the World Cup semi-final on Tuesday, Robbie got chatting to a redhead at Bar Rouge in Copenhagen, Denmark. Needless to say, one thing led to another and she joined him upstairs later on.
The encounter came after he pulled a blonde doctor on Sunday and a Swede the night before.
Glad you’re back in the saddle again, Rob.'

Rob's gay joke is Savage

SINGER Robbie Williams left macho pal Robbie Savage red-faced when he joked to 65,000 fans that the footie hardman is GAY. Cheeky Robbie, 32, told the packed Amsterdam Arena in Holland he had good news about a friend 'coming out'. Spotlights and cameras focused on married Savage, 31 - who has a three-year-old son - before beaming the pictures on to huge screens. Robbie wished the Wales international, who has long blond locks and wears diamond earrings, all the best - to rapturous cheers.
Savage saw the funny side - but has vowed to take revenge. He said yesterday: 'I was so embarrassed. I'm a dad and happily married. 'I knew Robbie was up to something before the show but I still can't believe he did it in front of all those people. 'I'll get my own back.' '

Robbie's tripping

Quoted from: http://www.thesun.co.uk

'ROBBIE WILLIAMS visited a notorious drugs den while touring in Denmark.
The singer headed to the commune of Freetown Christiania in Copenhagen, where cannabis is openly smoked on the streets and most drugs are up for grabs.
The Danish government are always theatening to close down the controversial centre because of its narcotics trade.
Robster walked to the 85-acre site - in an abandoned military barracks - with six minders and pal JONATHAN WILKES.
While there he strolled along the infamous strip that locals call Pusher Street because it is awash with drugs.
Robbie - who had a single out last year called Tripping and has admitted to using cocaine and ecstasy in the past - even gave his blessing to the Freetown.
He bought a hoodie bearing the slogan 'Bevar Christiania,' which means 'Save Christiania.'
But it wasn't all plain sailing. Robbie's visit initially caused a panic among locals.
They spotted his security team talking into radios and assumed it was a police bust.
A Danish journalist who witnessed the scene told me: 'There has been a lot of tension between the authorities and the residents recently and Robbie's visit caused a scene.
'But people soon recognised who he was and he was made welcome. He walked around and chatted to locals.” The former TAKE THAT member flew into the Danish capital from Sweden on Monday, checked into the £1,800-a-night Star Suite at the luxury Skt. Petri Hotel - then headed straight to the rather more downmarket commune.
On his way back to the hotel after the visit the singer stopped at a Blockbuster store to stock up on DVDs.
Maybe he'd inhaled some second-hand fumes.
Something had certainly gone to his head, because Robbie bought SIX movies - action flicks Lord Of War, Saw 2, Hooligans, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Seven Swords and Jarhead.
The Stoke-born star, who plays Copenhagen dates tonight and tomorrow, stayed in on Monday night to watch his flicks.
On Tuesday his dad PETE CONWAY flew in and they spent much of the day together.
At 6pm they headed off for a football game at the Valby Idraetspark.
As I have revealed to you before, soccer- mad Robbie arranges a match between his team - made up of himself and his tour crew - and local people in every city he visits with his Close Encounters show.'

I'm loving doctors instead

Quoted from: http://www.thesun.co.uk/

'By SEAN HAMILTON
Deputy Bizzare Editor

RANDY Robbie Williams pulled a sexy blonde doctor - by chatting her up from the stage as he played a gig.
The 32-year-old star spotted big-boobed Marie Annerstedt in the front row as he wowed 50,000 fans in Gothenberg, Sweden.
The junior hospital medic was wearing a low-cut top with 'Snog me, I'm a doctor' emblazoned across it.'
Robbie, who sings about 'loving angels instead' in his mega hit Angels, halted Sunday night's concert.
And he asked Marie: 'Are you really a doctor?' Then he pointed to his crotch and said: 'Do you want to examine this?'
An onlooker said: 'Robbie told the girl in front of everyone he wanted to spend the night with her - and she was welcome to come back to his hotel.
'He made another medical gag about how he'd like to take a proper look at her. Then he sang Feel directly to her.'
Robbie's blatant technique worked. Marie was spotted later at his hotel, the Elite Plaza, and headed towards his third-floor room.
She was seen in the lobby the next morning.
And she accompanied Robbie to the airport, from where he flew to Copenhagen to continue his world tour - called CLOSE ENCOUNTERS.

Williams' Bongo Bonanza

Quoted from: http://contactmusic.com

'ROBBIE WILLIAMS is determined to give French star MANU CHAO more exposure in the UK, so he is covering his song BONGO BONG on his upcoming album. Williams is a big fan of Chao, formerly of the French punk band MANO NEGRA, and believes he has the magic to make the track a hit in Britain. An insider says, "He's doing a cover of Bongo Bong on his new dance album. "It was massive everywhere else but never really did it over here."

Ronan on Robbie

Respect: Robbie Williams is one of the best, says Ronan

YOU'D think there would be a competitive spirit flowing between the likes of former boy-band members Robbie Williams, Justin Timberlake, Ronan Keating and their ilk.And you'd be right. Keating doesn't back away from what could be dangerous territory.
"I think that Robbie is probably the best entertainer of all of us – us being Robbie (from Take That), Justin (N'Sync), myself and a couple of others that do that kind of thing. People like Brian McFadden (Westlife), as well, and he's a good friend.
"Of all the boy-band guys that came out of bands and became solo artists, I think Robbie's probably the best entertainer. He's got a certain charisma, and a tongue-in-cheek humour that really just works."
It obviously works in Australia, where Williams has managed to sell out nine huge outdoor shows in December, including two at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane (December 13 and 14).
But in the US, he could barely draw the numbers required for a football team. The Yanks don't want a bar of Williams, which is astounding considering his domination in Britain and here.
"Americans," Keating says, "don't like that cheekiness and that tongue-in-cheek humour that Robbie employs. That 'ego has landed' thing just doesn't fly in the US.
"If they'd released Angel and went to radio with that, Robbie might have been a big star in America by now. But because several of his singles haven't gotten away, there's a sort of stigma attached to his name there at the radio level.
"Having said that, though, his Dublin concert that I attended a couple of weeks ago was an amazing spectacle. The stage is enormous - he's spent a lot of money on this rig.
"He opens his set with Rock DJ, which I think is a great pop record. It was very cool to open with that. Apart from the new songs from his next album, it's a show just full of hits."'

Amsterdam ArenA concert 25 june 2006 (review)

By Alexandra, 28 June 2006

The 51.000 visitors of the Amsterdam ArenA concert of Robbie Williams on the 25th of June did not suffer much from the little rain outside, with the ArenA stadium, the football temple, having a giant roof. Inside the ArenA it appeared like a warm sunny day with a relaxed and good spirited atmosphere. The support acts by Orson and Basement Jaxx were good. Dressed in colourful costumes they geared up the crowd, Basement Jaxx resembling the 'Wicked Witch from the East' of the Wizard of Oz musical.
The excitement arose, as it appeared that Robbie would appear on stage around 21:00. The audience was in a very good mood and 51.000 people decided to do 'The Wave'. Behind the stage some movement could be seen. The audience started shouting 'Holland!! Holland!!' to welcome Robbie. Then everything got silent... The world-famous melody tunes from the science-fiction movie 'Close Encounters Of The Third Kind' played, along with the visualisation of the tunes, just like in the movie. A Close Encounter was about to happen... The audience was anxiously searching the giant Spaceship-like stage for any movement that might be Robbie. The atmosphere amongst the audience was like as if a volcano was about to erupt, or some other natural phenomenon. Then huge flames of some 6 meters high spitted out of the stage, of which the heat could be felt at some distance. Amidst huge smoke geysers, Robbie popped out of the stage like a devil in a box. The music erupted. Wearing sunglasses, his famous black coat and some orange ornaments (the colour of the Dutch football team), Robbie started to sing 'Radio'. The first 5 seconds the music was very loud, but then things got better synced and a fantastic show started. The songs were sung very well, and apart from one false guitar stroke the whole performance was superb. However Idols jury member and 'music-expert' HenkJan Smits, who also apparently visited the concert this evening had a different opinion and found Robbie's singing 'more out of tune than some idols-candidates'. Robbie looked great and seemed to be in his element. He wore the orange flag with the black Lion of the Dutch footie team, and at some point devoured an orange 'Wuppie' (furry puppet, WK attribute) he got from someone in the audience. After a close inspection of Robbie's dental condition the Wuppie somehow managed to escape, after which Robbie continued with the show. Jonathan Wilkes appeared as special guest and the two friends performed their act with the song 'Me And My Shadow'. A match was done as to who could kick the ball the furthest in the audience. The two friends both gave it their very best and afterwards decided to call it a draw and get on with the show. The song 'Back For Good' was sung relaxed sitting with a cigarette on a crutch. 'Strong' was done karaoke style, with Robbie encouraging the audience to sing along. He did another Houdini disappear act, changed into some other clothes and did an encore stunt with an elevator coming down, singing 'Let Me Entertain You' amidst fireworks. 'Angels' was sung with the audience holding up lights and was over way too soon, with people realising the Close Encounter was about to end. Then it was finally over. Robbie and the band bowed. Robbie kneeled and thanked the audience in three directions, lifting his arms. He seemed reluctant to have to leave, hesitated but then he just had to go. The audience could not believe it: is he really gone???
The Netherlands will miss Robbie. Thanks for an unforgettable evening!!

Robbie's mum gains a degree of success

Quoted from: http://www.thisisthesentinel.co.uk

'RICHARD AULT

The mother of Potteries pop star Robbie Williams is to take centre stage when she receives an honorary degree from Staffordshire University.Jan Williams is being honoured by the university for her good work during her 18 years of working as a counsellor and helping people deal with the affects of alcohol abuse on families.Jan also helps children who are affected by a family member's drinking.Jan said: "When I first received the letter I thought they had got the wrong address, it took quite a while to register that it was for me."
I get so much back from the work that I do, it's been so inspirational for me. It seems strange to be rewarded for doing something which gives me so much back anyway. And there are so many unsung heroes and fantastic people out there who are more deserving."I've not told Robert yet, it's taken me this long to talk myself into receiving it."I'm not a public person. I have gone public to help the Give It Sum charity cause, but otherwise I like to keep myself to myself."I'm overwhelmed by the fact that this has happened."I'm proud to be associated with Stoke-on-Trent."
Jan, a former telephone operator for the General Post Office, has two children, pop star Robbie and his older sister Sally.
Robbie was only 12 months old when Jan developed her skills for business, running the Red Lion pub in Burslem.
After living in the pub for three years, she left the business and set up her own dress shop in Little Chell, running her own business for another three years.
Once her children had grown up, Jan decided to put her experience to good use and signed up to a counselling skills course at Cauldon College.
Drawing on her own experiences working behind the bar, she specialised in dealing with people suffering from alcohol related problems. Once qualified, she began her service with the Staffordshire Alcohol Advisory Service, working with individual clients as well as in group work for over six years.
She drew on her experiences as a counsellor when helping Robbie to set up his Give It Sum fund, over which she keeps a close eye.
She is a patron of the North Staffordshire Aspergers and Autism Association, which cash from the Give It Sum fund helped to set up. Professor Christine King, Vice Chancellor of Staffordshire University, said: "These are people we are proud to be associated with, who are inspirational in their own right and who have made a real difference."'
