Robbie Williams back with new album

Quoted from: http://www.nme.com

'ROBBIE WILLIAMS’ new album is reportedly to be called ’INTENSIVE CARE’.
The belated follow-up to 2002’s ’Escapology’ will be released in the autumn.
The first single from the album has not been confirmed, but is rumoured to be called ’Trippin’. Several tracks are said to show a strong reggae influence.
The star recently gave a triumphant performance at Live 8, sticking to material which appeared on his massive-selling Greatest Hits album of 2004.
Following the release of ’Escapology’ and playing three sold-out nights at Knebworth in summer 2003, Williams threatened to quit pop music, saying he would rather be a nobody.
He said at the time: "I can't leave the house without being hassled, without people coming up to me bothering me all the time. I am seriously thinking about giving it all up, about not putting out any more records."'

Williams ringtone soon the real thing

Quoted from: http://www.theage.com.au

'The pop star Robbie Williams may never win any prizes for originality with his hugely popular musical output, but the chart-topping singer has signed a novel deal with a mobile phone network that could revolutionise the way fans buy his songs.
The singer has signed an exclusive deal with the global telecom giant T-Mobile that will allow customers to download songs, exclusive live tracks and concert footage to their mobile phones.
The 18-month deal is the biggest tie-up yet between a big artist and a phone company and will be watched with interest by others convinced that mobile music delivery will become an important factor in reviving flagging record sales.
Williams, who is signed to EMI, will also act as a global "brand ambassador" for the company, in much the same way as Vodafone has used footballer David Beckham in its advertising during the past three years.
But the fact that digital music, downloaded from the internet and mobile phones, is expected to account for a quarter of all sales by the end of the decade gives the deal an interesting new dimension.
AdvertisementAdvertisement
The link-up with Williams gives T-Mobile access to exclusive content such as live concerts and unreleased tracks.
John Leahy, marketing and creative director at EMI, said: "It signposts the way record companies will be working in future for these artists. There's a huge opportunity there and many similar deals will follow."
The contract is likely to prove mutually beneficial, with Williams, who stole the show at the Live 8 concert in Hyde Park, using the increased exposure to help push his new album this year as well as a likely world tour in 2006.
With the market for ringtones, epitomised by the Crazy Frog phenomenon, nearing saturation point and digital music players such as the iPod having become mass-market consumer items, mobile phone companies are now testing the market for mobile phone downloads of full tracks. Some companies, including Vodafone, have launched download services over their 3G networks.
Meanwhile, technology companies are forming alliances with telecom groups in the hope of positioning themselves to take advantage.
Apple, which produced the iPod music player, is working on a hybrid device with mobile phone manufacturer Motorola, while Napster has signed a deal with Ericsson to develop global download services.'

Robbie rings the changes

Quoted from: http://www.smh.com.au

'Badboy rocker Robbie Williams's concerts will be broadcast live on mobile phones around the world in a deal set to revolutionise the music industry.
But Australian mobile phone carriers were today keeping quiet about the big names they've secured ahead of the launches of their 3G networks.
Williams, who has sold more than 50 million albums worldwide, has teamed up with international mobile phone giant, T-mobile.
Fans will be able to download exclusive Robbie Williams tracks directly to their phones - they will need the latest models - plus watch Williams as he swaggers around on stage during live concert feeds.
It is a significant upgrade from current technologies which only allow songs to be downloaded to computers first before being uploaded to phones.
The Williams deal highlights the push by mobile networks to lure customers with enriched mobile content.
"The future is music by mobile," the singer said.
But Australian mobile companies, many of whom will switch to advanced 3G networks by the end of the year, refused to reveal who they've signed up.
"We are the largest operator so we've got really good relationships with major record companies so there will be lots of exciting content coming," a Vodafone spokeswoman teased.
"But it's too early to confirm what sign-ups we do have," she said.
Telstra also would not divulge the exclusive access its customers will get when it launches its 3G network.
"We will have a whole range of interesting and innovative mobile content at launch. But it is too early to talk about those content offerings," a Telstra spokesman said.
But Telstra's BigPond online music store may provide some kind of guide as to what to we can expect.
The site offered access to Australian Idol winner Casey Donovan first single days before the song was released in stores across the country. And it also gave exclusive access to singles by Coldplay, INXS and Pete Murray.
The other main carrier, Optus, would also not say what kind of exclusive mobile phone content it is going to offer.'

Another element to the partnership will be international television advertising campaigns in T-Mobile European markets. 'Ex-TAKE THAT star MARK OWEN insists he isn't jealous of his formerbandmate ROBBIE WILLIAMS' pop success - but he does envy his huge collection of cars. But Owen is aggravated that his friend Williams, who is the only member of the defunct boy band to endure a chart-topping solo career, refuses to let him test-drive his expensive set of motors. We dont need Robbie round here

Quoted from: http://www.newsandstar.co.uk

'SO Robbie Williams is the latest superstar thought to be casting eager eyes on Cumbrian property? People with his earning power are probably the only ones able to afford to live in the Lake District these days. I don't really know what all the fuss is about. What do any of these stars bring to the table? Precious little. For them our area is a retreat. Somewhere they can hide away from the public whose money keeps them in luxury. It's not as if they are going to become part of a thriving rural community. In fact it's the second homes that are gradually destroying the traditional rural idyll. Sting may have one of his homes in Grasmere. Nicole Kidman once fancied the country life. And now Robbie casts his eye over the Lakes. But as far as I'm concerned, we can manage perfectly well without the rather false image of celebrity they offer.'

A source revealed: "Robbie and Nicole met up last week and got on like a house on fire."They were introduced to each other through a mutual friend and swapped numbers.
Robbie called Nicole to ask her out on a date and she accepted straight away They dined at The Ivy and looked really close".'

Fraudulent ticket sales

Robbie: I'm not moving to the Lakes

Quoted from: http://www.nwemail.co.uk

'ROBBIE Williams is denying reports that he has bought a £2m country manor in the Lake District. A national newspaper said the multi-millionaire pop star had snapped up a former hotel near Windermere. And people in the area were excited by the news, but the former Take That heartthrob’s public relations agency, Taylor Herring, today denied any knowledge of the deal. A spokesman said: “It has nothing to do with Robbie Williams and we know nothing about the house that was bought.” Reports stated the singer had bought a home with nine bedrooms, eight bathrooms, a sauna and a billiards room on eight-and-a-half acres of land. Matthews Benjamin estate agents in Windermere yesterday confirmed to the Evening Mail it has just sold a property matching that exact description for £2m. A Matthews Benjamin spokesman said: “The deal was done through an elderly man over the phone. All the locals have been in asking if the house was bought by Robbie Williams. “Quarry Garth (on Ambleside Road, Troutbeck Bridge) is the only £2m house that has been sold in the Windermere area recently.” After hearing the rumour Robbie might have bought the house, excited locals had been looking forward to meeting their new neighbour. Jennifer Borer, who represents the Tories on South Lakeland District Council for Windermere Applethwaite, said Robbie would be treated like any other resident. She said: “It’s quite a popular area for pop stars and sporting people so it’s possible he is moving in. “Famous people tend to come up here and they want peace and quiet. It’s like Prince Charles - he’s just another resident where he lives.” Peter Tyson, clerk at Furness Magistrates’ Court, who also lives at Troutbeck Bridge, said: “I am surprised he has not chosen a more secluded area because Quarry Garth is next to the busiest road in the Lake District. “I don’t think we will see much of him.” Quarry Garth includes a four-bed lodge, which could be converted into a recording studio. Born in Stoke-on-Trent, Robbie recently sold his five-bedroom house in Ladbroke Grove, West London, which he bought for £4.5m in 2000. Despite extensive renovations, he spent little time there and put the house up for sale after moving to Los Angeles. His former bandmate Mark Owen owns a house just 23 miles away from Windermere, in Leck, near Carnforth, in Lancashire.'

'Brandon Flowers has admitted he is flattered by Robbie Williams' Live 8 tribute to the band.Unfortunately the band only got to play one song - the anthemic All These Things That I've Done - but fans were treated to a reprise from the mouth of Robbie Williams.During his set, Robbie intertwined the song's lyrics "I've got soul but I'm not a soldier" into his own.Flowers told NME.com: “I heard about that, but I didn’t get to hear it. I’m glad he liked it. I didn’t know it was going to happen, I’ve never met him, but it was cool – it’s nice of him.” '

Robbie entertains thoughts of Lakes

Quoted from: http://www.newsandstar.co.uk

ROBBIE Williams is rumoured to be the next in a long line of celebs snapping up millionaire mansions in the Lake District.
The cheeky heartthrob famous for his tiger pants is thought to have splashed out £2 million on former hotel Quarry Garth in Troutbeck Bridge, near Windermere. It has nine bedrooms, a sauna and a billiards room. On its eight-and-a-half acres of land there is also a four-bedroom lodge which could be converted into a recording studio.
Once dubbed “the fat dancer from Take That” by Noel Gallagher, Robbie had five number one albums under his belt by the time he sang at Live8 earlier this month.
He is known to have stayed in the Crown Hotel at Wetheral and has recently sold his five-bedroom house in Ladbroke Grove, West London, for which he paid £4.5million five years ago.
Excited residents have been asking the Matthews Benjamin estate agents in Windermere whether the pop star will soon be their neighbour.
Stately homes in the Lake District have become rich pickings for those famous enough to be able to afford them.
Superstar Sting owns homes in Tuscany, New York and Malibu. Three years ago he added Grasmere to the list when he spent £500,000 on his wife’s 50th birthday present: a 16th-century farmhouse. A drop in the ocean after he had earned £4.7 million the previous year.
Coronation Street star Sally Whittaker was also taken by Grasmere. She was spotted there in September looking round a £400,000 property while a few years ago actress Nicole Kidman was also believed to be house hunting.
Sir Paul McCartney is thought to have considered buying the Sharrow Bay Country House Hotel, Ullswater, where he proposed to Heather Mills.

Robbie Williams goes rasta

Quoted from: http://www.telegraaf.nl

'AMSTERDAM - Singer Robbie Williams regrets his tattoos. The singer therefor wants to have them removed as soon as possible. "I want a nice, pure body again", according to the excentric womendevourer.

Williams is reknown for his many tattoos (at the moment he has but no least then 13 tattoos!), but is fed up now to have to see the drawings every day and longs for a body without tattoos. "I like having them done, but I wish I could wipe them off again. Like a sketch, so I could start over again", according to the singer.
In October will be the release of his new album after long waiting. Williams has listened a lot to reggae and dub lately which inspired him to work with it himself. The influences of reggae-legend Bob Marley can be clearly heard on the album, that listens to the name Intensive Care. According to The Sun fans wil be very surprised. The first single, which will also come out in October, already gives a pre-taste of Rasta Robbie's new style. "When he sung the new song in the studio, everyone compared him with the young Bob Marley," says an acquaintance. "He has given the reggae-sound a modern twist and his voice fits this music well".'

Robbie Williams lifestyle changes

Quoted from: http://www.femalefirst.co.uk

'Pop hunk ROBBIE WILLIAMS is planning to spend a staggering $3.5 million (£2 million) on an idyllic country manor in England's Lake District. The ROCK DJ singer fell in love with the house, which is located just 35 kilometres (22 miles) from his former TAKE THAT bandmate MARK OWEN, after selling his lavish London home last month (JUN05). The fabulous country pile, originally a hotel, boasts nine bedrooms, eight bathrooms, a sauna and billiards room, as well as a massive eight-and-a-half acres of land. An insider says, "It's a very stunning house - it is very private and in a beautiful location."

In other news the pop hunk is regretting covering his body in tattoos and is considering surgery to remove them. The ROCK DJ star is notorious for his body art, but he's bored of looking at them every day and yearns for his ink-free body. He complains, "I do like getting them done but I wish it was like an Etch-a-Sketch where I can wipe them all out and start again. "It would be nice to have a pure, clean body again." '

Robbie Williams would make a perfect Robin Hood!

Quoted from: http://news.webindia123.com

'The BBC repotedly wants singer Robbie Williams to play the character of Robin Hood in the series based on the legendary outlaw, so as to improve their ratings compared to ITV's in the Saturday night ratings war. "We are developing and hope to do a Robin Hood. It's another iconic family drama", Femalefirst quoted the controller of BBC 1 as saying. The channel is planning to revamp the series with the hope that it will be as successful as 'Dr Who', which had earlier been reinvented and helped BBC thrash ITV on Saturdays. "Like 'Dr Who', we would try and reinvent it. Robbie Williams would be great - we have asked him for a few projects and he has the kind of swagger we are looking for. We may have to ditch the tights though", said BBC drama boss Jane Tranter.'(ANI)

Robbie and Becks footy fun

Quoted from: http://www.megastar.co.uk

'Port Vale-loving strutting pop rooster Robbie Williams is to hone his football skills - thanks to his friendship with a certain bloke called Beckham. Like we care or something. The Daily Express' Day & Night showbiz guff outlet tells us the Robster is to jet over to Madrid later this summer for a tour of the Real Madrid training ground and a sesh of keepy-uppy with the beautiful boy himself. A mate of Williams tells the rag that Rob's "keen to learn from the expert". Maybe he's got one eye on a career in lower league football when he tires of music. We're damn sure we've tired of his. The ubiquitous celebrity 'pal' adds that the deal goes something like this: Becks teaches Robbie to play football, and Robbie shows Dayvid how to sing.
"Couldn't Victoria have helped with that?" chuckle the Sexpress showbiz wags.
We laughed then we stopped.'
