'Phone spat with Rod's singer son Pals worry Rob's losing the plot Star thinks Fiddy is out to get him
Eva Simpson & Caroline Hedley

FRIENDS are seriously concerned that Robbie Williams has finally cracked up. And now he is expressing fears that a top gangsta rapper wants to beat him up.
The peculiar claim arose during a feud the 32-year-old singer has been having with Rod Stewart's stepson Ashley Hamilton over ownership of a song.
Stressed-out Robbie appeared to have lost the plot entirely when he told mates that one of singer/songwriter Ashley's associates had threatened to "set 50 Cent" on him.
During the spat Rob has also bombarded Hamilton with abusive phone calls and text messages branding him "slimy" after Ashley vowed to take him to court over the "stolen" tune.
The Rudebox star's bizarre behaviour raises fresh questions about the state of his mental health.
It's emerged that he is again battling depression and is being seen by Priory psychiatrist Dr Mark Collins.
On one occasion Rob called LA-based Ashley 10 times in the space of 24 hours accusing him of being a liar.
He then sent him a text saying: "See you in court with a bag of fish and chips," a reference to Ashley suggesting that the singer wanted the cash so he could buy "an extra bag of chips".
A source close to Ashley said: "Robbie's behaviour was erratic to say the least. He was rambling and incoherent. The conversations just weren't going anywhere. He was outraged that Ashley had spoken publicly about this. He seemed to be losing the plot."
The dispute centres on Ashley's claims that the pair worked together on the track She's Madonna on the singer's new album, Rudebox.
Ashley - whose mum Alana was Rod's first wife - alleges that Robbie eventually took the track to the Pet Shop Boys to finish and he was left without any credit or money.
In the series of phone calls, Robbie also blasted Ashley for not coming to him first with the problem but instead calling in the lawyers.
But Ashley has already claimed that when he challenged Robbie about it, he said he was called a "****" and told to "Go and f*** yourself!"
And in a final twist, Robbie was dramatically forced to concede in one of the calls that he may have to bin the disputed track allegedly telling Ashley "I'll pull the song off the record."
Such a move would be financially disastrous as it is one of the better songs off the much-maligned album and omitting it could delay the album's forthcoming release.
Cracks are beginning to show as love-starved singer Robbie has faced a series of setbacks recently.
Not only has he cancelled the Asian leg of his Confessions tour citing "exhaustion" but his ex-manager Nigel Martin-Smith has threatened to sue him for defamation over a track on Rudebox in which Martin-Smith is called an "evil man".
Ashley's spokesman said: "I'm aware of the calls but don't have any comment to make."
Rob's people said: "No comment."
Do get a grip, Rob...'

Williams defends his rudebox

Quoted from: http://contactmusic.com

'Former TAKE THAT star ROBBIE WILLIAMS has defended his latest single RUDEBOX, after fans' mixed reactions to his rap efforts. The singer has broken away from his pop roots on the track, provoking criticism from devotees - but Williams loves it. The singer tells MTV, "It has a very special place in my heart. "I think out of any Robbie Williams song I've written, I've listened to Rudebox the most. I've played it to death; it's almost worn out my computer." Addressing the mediocre response to the track, Williams says, "It's confused me. Lots of people have said, 'We don't like it, we don't get it', but to me it's really strong. I personally love it."

Robbie Williams - Lovelight

Quoted from: http://www.ilikemusic.com

'Robbie Williams will release his new single 'Lovelight' on November 13th on Chrysalis. Taken from his highly anticipated forthcoming Rudebox album which precedes the single on October 23rd. 'Lovelight,' recorded with NYC based uber-producer Mark Ronson earlier this year is a spectacular cover of Lewis Taylor's criminally unknown soul-anthem. Together they have taken it from its warm soul roots, and transform it into a building euphoric disco anthem featuring a full-on falsetto vocal performance that ranks amongst one of his most dynamic and definitive singles to date. "I wouldn't have known about Lovelight if it hadn't have been for Tom Middleton's 'The Trip' album - he put it on there, and I fell in love with it instantly... I can't believe how big that song is and no one knows it," says RW. "I'd never heard that and Rob came to me and said "I want to cover this." It's an amazing, obscure English soul record, and he's delivered a great classic blue-eyed soul vocal in the lineage of George Michael, Andy Gibb or Hall & Oates," adds Ronson.

:: Robbie Williams - Lovelight - WATCH THE TRAILER :: Windows Media Player Hi Lo

The single is backed by a spectacular mix package, with new re-workings courtesy of Soulwax, Kurd Maverick, Soul Mekanik and Ronson himself, that look set to follow previous single 'Rudebox' into club charts across the world. The single is also backed by a spectacular and iconic new video shot recently whilst in Vienna during a break from touring, which can currently be viewed exclusively on www.robbiewilliams.com. On that front Robbie has just completed the monumental European leg of his record breaking 'Close Encounters' World tour, culminating in a massive 5 nights at Milton Keynes Bowl and playing to over 2.5 million people along the way. Alongside his work with Ronson, 'Rudebox' finds RW collaborating with an array of musical mavericks including his heroes the Pet Shop Boys, King of ambient William Orbit, fellow Stoke natives Danny Spencer & Kelvin Andrews AKA Soul Mekanik, disco-house icon Dave 'Joey Negro' Lee on both new original compositions and covers of some of his favourite tracks that through its 16 tracks mark out and charts his musical loves and life. Lyrically it is very broad; humorous, historical, honest and revealing, a rollercoaster that takes you from introverted to extravagant, the break up to the make up, this is perhaps the most definitive Robbie Williams opus to date. 'Lovelight' is released on November 13th 2006 on Chrysalis / EMI Records. 'Rudebox' - The album is released on October 23rd.

Williams drops free Dublin gig

Quoted from: http://contactmusic.com

'Pop star ROBBIE WILLIAMS is facing criticism after pulling out of a free concert in Dublin, Ireland despite promising to return after his chaotic concert in June (06). The ANGELS hitmaker was left red-faced at the summer show when he attempted to make a spectacular entrance suspended from a gondola-like contraption over the stage - only for the mechanics to become stuck, leaving him dangling before he was rescued by technicians. Williams admitted the show was a fiasco, and subsequently vowed to the 80,000 fans he would play a gig for them for free by the end of 2006 to make up for it. But he has since told promoters in the Irish capital he will not be fulfilling his promise after all. Williams recently ditched the entire Asian leg of his tour, scheduled for later this year (06), because he is reportedly exhausted after overdoing his onstage capers. A spokesman for the star says honouring the dates would simply be "asking too much".

Robbie Williams insists that he is "okay" following reports that he has been suffering from depression. The singer, who has reportedly paid visits to The Priory clinic for sessions with a top doctor, is determined to go ahead with his South American tour.He told friends: "I'm okay. I'm exhausted and haven't been home for ten months because of my tour and promoting my album. It's all got too much for me and I have been told to rest for two weeks. My South American tour is coming up and I want to be ready for that." One pal told the News of the World: "He's not the first or the last person to go through this and is feeling fragile. But he wants to finish the tour and when he wants to do something he makes it happen." '

Ron Wood guitar for fan Robbie

ROBBIE Williams has splashed out £16,000 to buy one of Ronnie Wood's guitars.
The guitar - signed by Ronnie and the rest of the Rolling Stones - was the star lot in a charity auction.
Robbie wanted it at all costs and a friend bid on his behalf.
The event in Ilkley, West Yorks was organised by snooker star Paul Hunter for his cancer charity the Net Patient Foundation.
A pal of Robbie's said: "Robbie has always been a massive fan of the Rolling Stones.
"He couldn't make it in person because of his tour so he sent along a friend and told him that whatever the final bid was to offer a thousand pounds more." '

Exclusive: Robbie so low

Quoted from: http://www.mirror.co.uk/

'Troubled star sees doc as he battles depression
By Eva Simpson And Tom Bryant

ROBBIE Williams is being treated for depression, the Daily Mirror can reveal.
The condition - which the troubled star, 32, has battled before - may help explain why he suddenly axed the Asian leg of his world tour this month.
Although the official reason given was that he had "stress and exhaustion", insiders say he has sunk to a new low.
A source close to him revealed: "He's suffered from depression before but feels things are getting worse and the tour was too much."
Robbie is being treated by Dr Mark Collins, a top expert at the Priory clinic in South West London.
The star has even flown him to California, where he lives, for sessions.
The source added: "He's determined to get the very best treatment."
The news comes as he has struggled in the charts and been hit by legal disputes. Comeback single Rudebox flopped and ex-manager Nigel Martin-Smith is threatening to sue over a track on his new album in which he is called an "evil man".
Robbie has talked openly about depression, which he first admitted battling in 2002. In a BBC documentary this month he told Stephen Fry: "I could get up in front of 35,000 or 40,000 people and go, 'Look at me, I'm ace!'
"Then as soon as I got off stage I'd get in the tour coach and go back to my bedroom and pull the duvet over my eyes."

Robbie's £10m world tour on brink of disintegration

Robbie Williams: Rachel Gilson

Holed up amid the bucolic splendour of a lavish country house hotel early this week, Robbie Williams was in an unutterably bad temper.
Pacing the floor of his suite as his retinue of advisers and hangers-on sat heads bowed in embarrassed silence, the singer launched into a four-letter-word-strewn stream of consciousness, complaining about everything from his constant insomnia to how he feels his fans don't appreciate him enough.
It was a somewhat erratic performance and one that - sadly for the talented Williams - has become an all too regular occurrence in recent weeks.
Five months into a gruelling world tour (this week he finished the UK leg after playing to more than half a million British fans) and his fragile health is of grave concern to those around him. Not least because it is threatening to cost his record company - and the star - a fortune.
This week, his management team announced that Robbie's £10 million tour of the Far East, planned for November, is being cancelled as they finally confirmed rumours that the star is exhausted and stressed.
On Tuesday, his understandably jittery handlers put him on a flight back to his home in Los Angeles for a two-week break, in the hope that he will recuperate in time to resume the tour in South America next month.
Some within his entourage are openly speculating that he won't come back.
Last night, his father Pete told me: 'He is exhausted. He's hardly been home for ten months and he just needs to sleep in his own bed.'
At the same time, the planned release of his new album (tastelessly titled Rudebox) has been thrown into disarray over a vitriolic and ranting attack by the former Take That singer on his exmanager, contained in the lyrics of one of its songs.
Threats of legal action have led to panic at EMI, with the record label facing the possibility of having to hold up the October 23 launch date amid rumours that the track will have to be scrubbed.
Meanwhile, Williams's lawyers are preparing for a £1million libel writ from Nigel Martin-Smith, the manager who masterminded Take That's rise to fame and the subject of the song's scathing lyrics.
Martin-Smith is incandescent over the track, called The 90s, which makes a series of allegations about his treatment of Williams, who joined Take That as a 16-year-old.
But EMI's plan to jettison the song, or at the very least bleep out some of the lyrics (it has already removed the offending track from promotional copies of the CD), has not gone down well with Williams himself, the Mail has learned.
Insiders at the Williams camp reveal that the star has been advised by his legal team to make no further reference to the dispute with Martin-Smith for fear of inflaming the row.
Hardly surprising, then, that there were gasps of horror from Robbie's management and invited record company executives when the unpredictable star went on stage at the Milton Keynes Bowl last week and rapped an impromptu version of the potentially highly defamatory song to 65,000 of his fans.
One line includes the words: 'He's such an evil man. I used to fantasise I'd take a Stanley knife and go and play with his eyes.' All very unpleasant, and enough to have his lawyers squirming in case a recording of the section of the show becomes public. Too late, a fan, who filmed the unscheduled rendition on her mobile phone, has already posted the clip on the highly popular YouTube website.
As members of the audience are heard yelling abuse about Martin-Smith, Williams tells them with mock incredulity: 'I don't know what he is upset about.'
No wonder Robbie's friends and fans are worried about his behaviour.
This week, Elton John, who used to be close to Williams before they fell out when Robbie bizarrely accused him of once trying to kidnap him to get him off drugs, went public with his concerns.
He said: 'Robbie is the No.1 star in the world. He should let the other s*** go and, if he can't, then he needs to see someone and talk about it. All he is doing is burning a hole inside of himself, eating him up, making him angry and miserable.'
Sound advice - but if recent events are anything to go by, advice Williams is unlikely to heed.
What a shame, because Robbie is great performer who is adored by his fans. By the time his Close Encounters tour ends in Australia in December he will have played to three million people across the globe. It has already won him a place in the Guinness Book Of Records for selling out 1.6 million tickets in a day.
At the same time, he has won his battle against drink and drugs that once not only threatened his career, but also his life. So what, then, is going on with Robbie and why, at the age of 32, does he still seem so intent on self-destruction?
It is no secret that he has been harbouring an unhealthy obsession with Martin-Smith since he walked out of Take That in 1995, complaining the control exerted on him led him to alcoholism and drug-taking.
Since then, he has wasted no chance to pour opprobrium on his Svengali-like ex-manager and his former Take That companions (he refused to join them on their comeback tour this year, and last week was still mocking them from the stage).
But at the same time, he seems incapable of enjoying the success (£100 million fortune) his talent has earned him. Friends say he has become increasingly nostalgic for the life he had in Stoke-on-Trent before he found fame.
He has spent days in front of his computer on the Friends Reunited website, tracking down his old school chums and telling those close to him that he wishes he could go back to being unknown.
His message, posted to former pupils at St Margaret Ward High School in Tunstall, jokes about his one-time ambition to be a holiday camp entertainer.
'It's turned out well for me so far, got the interview at Butlin's and haven't looked back,' he writes. 'If you need an entertainer for your children's party, I do magic tricks and everything!'
But his nostalgia for his schooldays is also at the root of one bizarre episode which involves a former childhood sweetheart, Rachel Gilson, whom he has described as his 'one and only true love'. They dated at school and have been in touch on and off in the intervening years.
As he became increasingly wistful for a life long gone, he decided to look up the girl he described with unflinching certainty to friends as 'the one that got away'.
Those same friends, it should be said, have become all too used to such assertions. Williams, they say, is wont to indulge in flights of fancy about women he barely knows, imagining himself married and playing happy families within minutes of meeting a new woman.
Last summer, Williams rang Rachel out of the blue at her home in Bury, Lancs. There was little small talk. Neither of them was getting any younger, he told her. He was finally 'ready to settle down'.
Not surprisingly, Rachel was shocked, because their relationship had been little more than a playground crush in the final year of school.
With the impetuousness that has become familiar to those around him, Robbie told Rachel to pack a bag and said his PA would arrange to fly her out to Los Angeles that week. Rachel was swept off her feet and agreed.
His scheme, however, left some within his entourage openmouthed. What, they speculated, were the odds of Williams enjoying a 'happy-ever-after' with a girl he hardly knew?
Five days later, they had their answer. Amid claims that she blamed his bizarre behaviour on the anti-depressants he takes daily, a tearful Rachel fled home to Britain.
Friends report that the pair spent the first couple of days at his Beverly Hills mansion like a couple of loved-up teenagers, discussing their future together and exploring his adopted city.
But then they had a petty, but heated row. They tried to talk the following day, but the conversation ended in tearful recriminations. By the end of it, Robbie told Rachel that he was sorry but he wanted her to leave.
Rachel spent one last traumatic night in the house and departed for England the following day. In the intervening months, according to those around him, he has embarked on a series of short-lived affairs with women in Los Angeles including, it is claimed, U.S. model Jessica Cole. Meanwhile, on tour he remains surrounded by a retinue of willing groupies.
His constant companion, however, is his childhood friend Jonathan Wilkes, who performs a nightly and highly camp performance of Me And My Shadow with Williams on stage.
Williams and Wilkes, who is married with a baby son, have endured constant rumours about their sexuality - much, it should said, of their own making.
They have given themselves the nicknames 'Flank' and 'Spank' and allowed themselves to be filmed semi-naked in a paddling pool on Robbie's current tour, jokily discussing whether the singer might end up settling down with a man.
Such behaviour was particularly strange, given that Robbie took legal action nine months ago over a Sunday newspaper's false claim that he was involved in a gay encounter in the toilet of a Manchester nightclub.
At the same time, the star's fans have been posting their concerns for his health on a series of fan websites after he appeared to be sweating profusely during one of his Milton Keynes shows last week. Indeed, one pop reviewer described him as looking 'bloated and dishevelled'.
If that were not enough, his new album's title track has also had a mauling - with one critic labelling it 'the worst I've ever heard.'
And a source within his entourage told the Mail: 'The past few weeks before we arrived back in Britain have been pretty awful. Some days Rob has been sleeping till 3pm, then saying he can't go on stage that night.
'The tour is draining for everyone, but particularly for Rob, and he has not looked at all happy. In the end, the only thing to do was to cancel the Far East section.
'Some pretty terrified promoters from South America and Australia are desperate to know if their tours will be next to go.'
Robbie's father said: 'He's been getting through on adrenalin, but he will rest completely for a couple of weeks and do nothing. He'll have a break and finish the tour.'
His legions of fans (and those worried record company moneymen) will be hoping he's right.

Robbie gives 'em what they want!

'The great thing about Robbie Williams is that what Robbie wants, Robbie gets. And during Thursday evening's performance the chap wanted an ice cream – and Mr Whippy's finest was soon rustled up for our all-entertaining host.
All 65,000 Robbie fans got their fill at the gig too – a deliciously pooled pick of the Williams pops that began with Radio, and wound up two hours later with Kids. In between? One long hit parade was rolled before us – Rock DJ, Millennium and Make Me Pure are obvious choices to keep the ripe audience enthused, and the band? Pure class that gelled perfectly with their master. Now imagine the fun you could have if you took your best pal to work with you. That's exactly what Robbie has done for this tour, and he introduces Jonathan Wilkes by saying "He's the Ant to my Dec, the Crouch to my Rooney", before the pair launch into a truly fitting rendition of Me and My Shadow. They are simply a couple of lads having a laugh on a night out. Albeit with a somewhat expanded circle of friends. Blimey, at one point it's like watching Morecambe and Wise. It makes you smile.Max Beasley makes an appearance on the drum stool, and current single Rudebox is a highlight among highlights, but don't take my word for it – by the end of this evening, some 325,000 fans will have visited the National Bowl to see the show in the past few days.Wembley's loss was definitely our gain, and Robbie had this concert lark well and truly 'licked.'

Robbie Williams concerts hailed a success

'THE record-breaking five concerts at the Nationl Bowl - which saw more than 320,000 people descend on the city - have passed without serious incident.
Organisers and the local authorities have praised fans who went to the Robbie Williams concerts as well as local residents.A police spokesman said: "We would like to thank concert goers for being patient leaving the venue - although the wait was minimal compared to other, similar events in other areas of the country."We would also like to thank the residents of Milton Keynes and those visiting the city for other reasons who avoided the area, allowing agentcies to concentrate on getting traffic away from the venue as quickly as possible."The only reported crimes were two robberies and three people were arrested in connection with break ins into two cars. Six people were given cautions for possession cannabis and cocaine and five people were issued with fixed penalty notices for minor disorder offences. The spokesman added: "Considering the city had an influx of people, greater in number than the population of Milton Keynes by about 100,000, there were very few incidents."

Robbie might be so knackered that he's had to cancel the Asian leg of his world tour but you wouldn't have known it from his performance at Milton Keynes last night.Opening for the Robster were Hollywood rockers Orson who have had an incredible journey since their arrival from La La Land just under a year ago. From the confidence with which front man Jason Pebworth worked the 65,000 strong crowd, getting the whole place singing along with the "Ooh ooh ee oohs" on 'No Tomorrow,' you would never have guessed that in just a few short months they have gone from relative unknowns to one of the USA's most promising new bands. And, that Britain has wholeheartedly embraced these American sons, was happily acknowledged by Pebworth at the end of the set with a declaration "we love England, we've come home."Next up were Basement Jaxx with a storming, visually exciting performance featuring larger than life characters aplenty, including the screaming horn section attired, to a man, in kilts complete with Robbie Williams live at the Bowl (17/9/2006) Picture by Andy Handleyblue face paint. Even the appearance of a band member dressed as an ostrich could not detract from Jaxx classics 'Where's Your Head At' and 'Good Luck,' which sat happily alongside offerings from the latest CD 'Crazy Itch Radio.'

However, Guy insists he is now ready to call a truce on the pair's feud and pen another hit for Robbie if he agrees to collaborate with Shakira.Guy is convinced a duet between the pair could be the thing that launches Robbie's career in the US, where the Latin beauty is a huge star.He told Britain's The Sun newspaper: "He should have always done that. It would be the perfect match and I would like to write the tune for it. It would be a worldwide hit and would break Robbie in America."Guy has also revealed that one of the main reasons the pair disbanded their hugely successful partnership was because Robbie wanted to move to Los Angeles. He added: "One of the main reasons our partnership ended was because he moved to Los Angeles."If I'd also moved out there we may have continued working together. Fans unsurprised by Williams' exhaustion

Quoted from: http://contactmusic.com

'LATEST: Fans of exhausted British pop star ROBBIE WILLIAMS have voiced their concerns about his failing health after he cancelled the Asian leg of his current world tour, but insist it's no surprise. The singer's management made the announcement on Friday (15SEP06) after his sell-out gig in Milton Keynes, England, the night before. They explained he was "extremely tired" after kicking off his tour in May (06). Fans who attended the Thursday (14SEP06) concert aren't shocked by the news. One says, “He was out of control, touching up the backing singers and making a pass at the keyboard player. You could see it all on the big screen." Another added, "He just wasn't himself. Our fantasy celebs

Quoted from: http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk

'ANGELINA Jolie, Robbie Williams and Johnny Depp were the most fantasised-about celebrities.
In the female category, Angelina was well in the lead, with Jennifer Aniston a distant second.
Close behind her was the cute Kylie Minogue and not far away in fourth was Christina Aguilera.
But when it came to a favourite celebrity to have dinner with, Jennifer Aniston was joint first with Angelina.
Davina McCall made it on to that list, but not the fantasy sexual partner category.
Robbie Williams was still the man when it came to favourite dinner date, but Gordon Ramsay and Billy Connolly also managed a mention. '

Williams slates old manager on stage

Quoted from: http://www.pr-inside.com/

'British pop star ROBBIE WILLIAMS has stepped up his war with former manager NIGEL MARTIN-SMITH by slamming him from the stage during a concert. The ANGELS singer is currently involved in a feud with his ex TAKE THAT boss over a song on his new album, which lawyers believe could be libellous. In outspoken track THE 90s, Williams reveals he fantasised about hurting the pop mogul during his time with the chart-topping boy band. Martin-Smith has demanded the song be removed from William's new album RUDEBOX. But defiant Williams sang the words in front of 65,000 fans at the Milton Keynes Bowl in England on Thursday (14SEP06).'

Robbie Williams' health jeapordized by Asian concerts

Quoted from: http://www.playfuls.com

'The British pop superstar, Robbie Williams canceled the Asian leg of his world tour motivating his decision by his health condition, but still plans to go on with his Australian concerts. The 32-year-old pop singer is now midway through his 'Close Encounters' tour and decided to take a break before hitting South America and blamed stress and exhaustion for calling off the shows in Shanghai, China; Hong Kong; Bangkok, Thailand; Singapore; and Mumbai and Bangalore, India, which were set for Nov. 4-26. Organizers claimed the Asian tour was scheduled soon after the end of the European tour dates, which explained the reason behind the cancellation. "It is with deep regret that (we) announce the cancellation of the Robbie Williams tour to Shanghai," a statement emailed to Shanghai promoters said. "As we reach the final stages of the European tour, it became clear that the stress and exhaustion of the Asian tour, coming so shortly after the end of the European and South American dates, would seriously impact his health.' His spokesman said that "These performances would be asking too much. They would have greatly added to his workload," adding the fact that Williams has been on tour since May and he's 'extremely tired.' "Throughout the summer, Robbie Williams has performed in more than 40 shows around the world to more than 3 million people," the statement said. A Bangkok-based manager at the regional promoter of the tour, Midas Promotions, Nigel Peters, confirmed that Shanghai and Mumbai had been cancelled though no final decision had been taken as far as the other Asian shows were concerned.Fans all over Asia must feel quite disappointed as tickets for some shows had already gone on sale. However, it is not the first time Robbie, who has battled against drink and drug addictions, has come down with stress. He had a previous burst in 2003 when he admitted he was considering retiring from the music industry. "I think about quitting every day. I am schizophrenic," he said at that time. Robbie Williams was scheduled to play the second of five dates at the Milton Keynes Bowl north of London on Friday night. His European tour began in Dublin, Ireland over three months ago, and he plans to continue in South America before ending the tour in Australia where he announced through his Australian tour promoter, Michael Chugg, that his dates there, are still on. "Everything is fine," Chugg said yesterday. "I don't know why Robbie is pulling out of Asia. But Australia is 100 per cent not a problem. "They haven't said a word about cancelling Australia. I spoke to Robbie's management last night, and the night before that, and we're full steam ahead,'' Chugg said yesterday. He will also release new tickets for Williams' Australian shows. Extra tickets for the Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide shows will go on sale on October 4, then Melbourne and Perth on October 5. “We've managed to pull it off, giving more diehard fans the chance to see Robbie in action,” Michael Chugg said.Williams’ first gig will be in Perth on November 30 and will perform last in Melbourne on December 18. He will play at Telstra Dome on December 17 and 18. Williams also said that he wants to take a break for a while. "It's not something I want to do again for a long time," he said. Michael Chugg said he spoke to Williams last month. "He was very excited about coming back to Australia. I don't know why he's cancelled Asia - perhaps it's a financial thing,'' he said. '

Robbie Williams helps Natascha through her ordeal

Quoted from: http://www.thisislondon.co.uk

'Robbie Williams is helping Austrian kidnap victim Natascha Kampusch regain a normal life.
The girl who was dragged into a white delivery van when she was 10 on her way to school and held by her kidnapper for eight-and-a-half years inside a dungeon is enjoying his albums as she spends hours each day in therapy sessions.
Natascha, who grew up without MTV, without girl's magazines or newspapers, without television soap operas, uses words like "cool" and "wicked" to describe Williams’ music – words she learned on an Austrian radio channel while in captivity.
Now the first book and film offers are coming in.
"Nothing has arrived from Hollywood yet, but that's the direction we're moving in," said one of her advisers.
"From a purely capitalist point of view, this woman is a goldmine. Of course you're not supposed to say that sort of thing out loud."
The house of Lansky, Ganzger & Partners, a legal firm with 55 employees and a two-storey office building in central Vienna, are representing her.'

Robbie Williams and Little Brittain's Lucas make sweet music

Quoted from: http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/

Lucas and Williams: Wrote lyrics and sung backing vocals on Williams' track

'Little Britain's Matt Lucas has teamed up with Robbie Williams to forge an unlikely songwriting partnership.
The baldheaded funnyman, best known for his character 'Vicky Pollard', helped the pop star with lyrics for a song he was struggling to finish and recorded backing vocals.
Matt was staying at the former Take That star's Los Angeles mansion with his boyfriend Kevin McGee last Christmas, when he came up with words for a melody Robbie was struggling to find lyrics for.
In typically irreverent Little Britain style, Matt suggested a song written from the point of view of a man suffering from obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD).
Apparently Williams was so happy with his contribution, he recorded the track and convinced Matt to sing backing vocals on it.
A source said: "The track worked out brilliantly.
"Robbie wasn't happy with this song's lyrics, so he just asked Matt if he had any ideas.
"He came up with some words about a bloke with OCD who wants to go out on a date but whose condition stops him leaving the house.
"Matt was too nervous to sing in front of Robbie, so he waited until Robbie went off to play football and then recorded his vocals alone."
Robbie's new album Rudebox is out on October 23, but there is no indication yet that the song will be included on the album.
Matt's singing talent was first revealed on Vic Reeves 90s quiz show 'Shooting Stars', when he sang songs dressed as "adult baby" George Dawes.'

Stressed Robbie's gig axe

ROBBIE Williams has called off the entire Asian leg of his world tour because of stress and exhaustion.
The singer has been been gigging since May and is said to be extremely tired.
His spokesman said: "These performances would be asking too much. They would have greatly added to his workload."
The gigs are in Shanghai, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Singapore, Mumbai and Bangalore in November.
Many fans will be particularly disappointed as tickets had already gone on sale for some of the shows.
Robbie is currently in the middle of five dates at the Milton Keynes Bowl, the last concerts in the UK leg of the tour.
He will then play five gigs in South America in October before ending in Australia in December.'

Rudeboy Rob is needling Nigel

Quoted from: http://www.thesun.co.uk

'September 16, 2006 ROBBIE WILLIAMS has obviously decided he won't back down in his legal fight with ex-manager NIGEL MARTIN-SMITH.
Nigel is demanding Robbie remove a track called The 90s from his new album Rudebox - because he says it contains serious and completely untrue allegations about him in the lyrics.
But on Thursday night Robbie defied legal warnings and rapped the song in front of 65,000 fans at the Milton Keynes Bowl.
Just before he sang the old Take That tune Back For Good, Robbie told the crowd: 'Did you see a story in The Sun today about me?
'My former manager’s got a problem with a song on my album called The 90s.'
Robbie then rapped the lyrics - which I can't print for legal reasons - and asked: 'What's wrong with that?'
I'm sure Nigel didn’t buy a ticket for the gig but he will be livid when he hears what Robbie did and will no doubt send another stroppy letter to the singer's lawyers.
I've got a feeling Robbie ignored advice from his own legal team - and he may end up regretting it.
Rudebox is due out on October 23. But if Robbie and Nigel don’t sort out their dispute in time the release could be put back.
That would be a disaster for Robbie's label because it could flush an expensive marketing campaign down the pan. Already it means they can’t press millions of CDs for fear they might have to be scrapped.
Robbie is doing five Milton Keynes gigs as part of his Close Encounters world tour.
He was supposed to play at the new Wembley - but the stadium wasn’t finished.
Poking fun at the slow builders, Robbie said: 'Wembley should be ready in time for THEO WALCOTT's testimonial.''

By: Scott Colothan on 9/9/2006

Robbie Williams is so desperate to find a partner that he’s even considering getting himself a boyfriend.
The 32-year-old former Take That star made the revelation on a documentary called 'Robbie on the Road: We Are Not Alone', which is screened on Sky One tonight.
The show features intimate interviews with the megastar during his current 'Close Encounters' tour.
In one scene, Robbie is filmed with his best pal Jonathan Wilkes in a swimming pool in Hungary. He tells the camera: 'Living in Los Angeles, I've been on so many dates.
'I've developed relationships that have become short live, for whatever reason. The press have never found out.
'But I believe there's one person out there for everybody. I hope that she - whoever I chose - is a good un.'
He finishes: 'Or he! You never know, you never know.' '

Leeds braces itself for arrival of 90,000 Robbie Williams fans

Leeds braces itself for RobbieWilliams's sell-out concert atRoundhay Park

Leeds is bracing itself for the arrival of tens of thousands of pop fans heading for Robbie Williams's sell-out concerts in Roundhay Park.
The former Take That star turned solo chart topper is in concert in the park for two nights as part of his current tour.
The gigs have sparked some complaints after headteachers decided to close a number of schools due to the amount of people expected to swamp the area.
The city's transport system is set to be stretched, with delays predicted on many of the main routes around north Leeds on Friday and Saturday.
Several roads have been closed, including Wetherby Road - between Easterly Road and Roundhay Road - as well as Old Park Road, Park Avenue, West Avenue, The Carriage Drive, Princess Avenue, Oakwood Lane, Hollin Hill Drive, Hollin Hill Avenue, Oakwood Park, Bedford Court and Oakwood Grange.
Residents have been issued with permits allowing them to access their homes while the restrictions are in place between 10am and 3am the following day. The specially constructed concert arena opens at 2pm on both days.
Councillor John Proctor, Leeds's City Council's leisure chief, said: "When you have 90,000 people all heading to and from the same venue at a similar time each day there are clearly going to be major logistical challenges in terms of how that is managed.
"We are confident that the traffic management plan will enable this challenge to be met as efficiently as possible, with the safety of residents and people attending the concerts as well as keeping the disruption to local people to a minimum being our top priorities."
He added: "It is obvious that with such large numbers of people heading to Roundhay Park there will clearly be traffic jams and delays, but the measures being put in place will hopefully keep those to a minimum and we would ask people to please be patient or avoid the area altogether if their journey is not essential.
"We appeal to local residents to work with us and co-operate as much as they can so that they are not unduly affected on these two days. We thank everyone in advance for their patience and help and hope both events are a fantastic success and really showcase what a great city Leeds is."

An investigation is under way for missing Robbie Williams tickets.Westminster City Council are investigating tickets for the star's current UK tour that were never delivered from agency Harley Street Ticket Brokers in London. A spokeswoman for the company told BBC News that the company had received a "steady stream of complaints. These complaints, along with being told the company had ceased trading, compelled us to launch an investigation. "Westminster's trading standards team are doing everything in their power to get to the bottom of what is going on with this ticket agency."As previously reported by NME.COM, Scottish fans were warned by police that could have bought stolen tickets for his two show on September 1 and 2 at Glasgow's Hampden Park. Disgruntled fans of superstar Robbie Williams left counting cost after ticket fiasco

Sue Edgley, left, and Yvonne Corner who will not be watching Robbie Williams in concert tonight after the agency who sold them their tickets went bust.

IT was meant as a tonic for York mother Yvonne Corner after she underwent treatment for cancer.
Her friend, Sue Edgley, bought tickets last November for them to see Robbie Williams in concert tonight.
But now their plans for a great night out lie in ruins after the agency which sold them the tickets ceased trading.
They will have to stay at home while 80,000 other fans are entertained by the superstar at Roundhay Park, Leeds.

And Sue, 50, of Pheasant Drive, Woodthorpe, has been left £446 out of pocket, having bought four tickets with a Switch debit card and no guarantees of getting the money back.
Yvonne, 38, of Acomb, said: "I had been undergoing radiotherapy and chemotherapy for cancer, and Sue bought the tickets last autumn as a surprise to boost me up.
"It would have been a nice tonic. She bought tickets for me, herself, her husband and as a Christmas present for her daughter, Lisa, from an agency called Harley Street Brokers.
"It was a really nice gesture and we were really looking forward to seeing Robbie. I like him. I had arranged for a relative and a friend to look after my two special needs children.

Michelle Tapper, left, and Lisa Hopkins who have missed out on getting close to Robbie Williams

"But the tickets never turned up and it eventually turned out on Monday that they had gone out of business. It's a real disappointment. We were gutted."
Sue Jones, Westminster City Council's chief trading standards officer, said today it had received a number of complaints about the firm from people who had bought Robbie Williams tickets but not received them.
"It appears they have been using a mail box in Westminster which is now telling people that the company has ceased trading. We will be looking into this and will be trying to establish the status of the company."
Golden' tickets fail to showFOUR other Robbie Williams fans from York dreamed for eleven months of getting up close and personal at tonight's concert.
The York friends paid £170 each almost a year ago for "Gold Circle" tickets near the front of the stage, but their hopes were ruined after the tickets failed to turn up.
Now Lisa Hopkins, Michelle Tapper, Vicky Schofield, of South Bank, and Joanne Maddison, of Huntington, have had to turn in desperation to Ebay and managed to get hold of four tickets - but for somewhere in the middle of the vast crowd, far away from the stage and the singer.
Lisa, of Beaconsfield Street, Acomb, said she had bought the tickets from a London-based ticket agency, Splendid.
After the tickets failed to arrive, the agency first claimed it had sent them and there had been problems in the post. But it later told her that Splendid had not itself received the tickets from its own suppliers, and she would be entitled to a refund. However, this would take two or three weeks, and it would still not get her back her Gold Circle admission. "I'm really disappointed," she said.
"We've been looking forward to this since last October."
Michelle, of Tedder Road, Acomb, said: "We're gutted. I have seen Robbie twice before but never as close up as this."
The Press attempted to ring Splendid more than 50 times before a man who answered said the problem was not due to the post.
He said he would get back to the paper, but failed to do so.
A spokesman for Robbie said there had been no problems for anyone booking tickets directly through the singers' website.

The ANGELS hitmaker, who has openly admitted to struggling with drugs and booze, claims his imaginative escapes were an attempt to combat his spiralling depression. 'ROBBIE WILLIAMS is under fire again, this time from a group of angry parents who are raging against the decision to close schools in Leeds, northern England, to make way for the star's concert tomorrow (09SEP06). Eleven schools and learning centres have been shut down to prepare for the influx of 90,000 fans into the area around the venue, Roundhay Park. But although the local education authority insists the plan is merely to protect kids from danger, families are not amused. One furious parent says, "It is absolutely despicable. It is a new term; the kids, teachers, everybody is back at school. ready to get into it and they have closed already."

Legal wrangle for Robbie as ex-manager snaps

Quoted from: http://contactmusic.com

'LATEST: Pop star ROBBIE WILLIAMS is reportedly facing legal action from former TAKE THAT manager NIGEL MARTIN-SMITH after he launched a terrifying attack on the mogul in new track THE NINETIES. The outspoken singer's shocking song, which features on his upcoming album RUDEBOX, detail how he has fantasised about gouging the pop mogul's eyes out, sniping, "Either you're a thief or you're s**t, which one will you admit to? Such an evil man, I used to fantasise about taking a Stanley knife and playing around with your eyes." Williams, who rocketed to fame with the British boy band before going solo, claims Martin-Smith forced him to change his name, lose weight and even refused to pay the group for a successful European tour. But after years of being slammed by the ANGELS singer, Martin-Smith has snapped, and has reportedly hired top libel and defamation lawyer QC ANDREW CALDECOTT to take care of matters. An unnamed music executive tells British newspaper The Daily Mirror, "Robbie has called into question Nigel's honesty and ability as a manager when it's well-known that without him he wouldn't have a career in the first place. This has got to stop." A source close to Martin-Smith adds, "He has always kept a dignified silence despite all of Robbie's remarks but he has overstepped the mark this time and Nigel is upset and angry."

Robbie Williams

Hot on the heels of a court victory that confirmed his heterosexuality, British superstar Robbie Williams is ready to put out… a new album. Rudebox, a mix of new originals and covers, will be released on October 24 by EMI.
Williams' seventh studio album is a quick follow-up to 2005's worldwide multi-million seller, Intensive Care, and sees him collaborating with the Pet Shop Boys and producers William Orbit (Madonna), Dave "Joey Negro" Lee, Soul Mekanik, Mark Ronson, Juan Gabriel, Brandon Christy and Jerry Meehan.
Lily Allen provides backing vocals on Williams' version of Manu Chao's "King Of The Bongo." Rudebox also contains covers of Lewis Taylor's "Lovelight", Human League's "Louise," My Robot Friend's "We're The Pet Shop Boys" and Stephen "Tin Tin" Duffy's "Kiss Me."
Victoria Newton, an entertainment editor at the U.K. newspaper The Sun, has already declared Rudebox "the worst record that I have ever heard." In a forum on The Sun's website, several contributors left similar remarks about the title track first single, which is based on a sample of Sly & Robbie's "Boops (Here To Go)."
"'Rudebox' is truly the worst thing since the music of Victoria Beckham," said one.
"I've created more professional sounding tracks on a DJ CD-rom I got free from a pack of cornflakes," remarked another.
Williams is currently on his Close Encounters world tour. For now, no Canadian dates are scheduled.
Here are the tracks on Rudebox:
"Rudebox"
"Viva Life On Mars"
"Lovelight"
"King Of The Bongo"
"She's Madonna"
"Keep On"
"Good Doctor"
"The Actor"
"Never Touch That Switch"
"Louise"
"We're The Pet Shop Boys"
"Burslem Normals"
"Kiss Me"
"The 80s"
"The 90s"
"Summertime"
"Dickhead"

A question of sex that doesn't supply many answers

Quoted from: http://www.yorkshiretoday.co.uk

'A new survey claims too many young people are ignoring the safe sex message, but should we really be worried?
Sarah Freeman reports.

Body talk: Teenagers are bombarded with messages that sexual activity is commonplace and told that stars like Robbie Williams have had therapy to cure their insatiable appetite for sex.

A question of sex that doesn't supply many answers
A new survey claims too many young people are ignoring the safe sex message, but should we really be worried? Sarah Freeman reports.
There are lies, damned lies and questionnaires. When Radio One, together with MTV and Durex, decided to find what was really going on in the sex lives of 16 to 24-year-olds, they asked them to fill out a confidential online survey and the results were published yesterday to some controversy. To shocked gasps from those who didn't do anything more daring than hold hands before a wedding ring was on their finger, the survey revealed that a third of all 16-24-years-old lost their virginity before the age of consent, 38 per cent don't practise safe sex and more than half have had a one night stand. But before we label this apparently wanton lot as no- hopers who mistake sex for intimacy and flings for relationships, it's worth remembering that the figures may not quite reflect the wider picture and were based on the 20,000 or so who had the time and the inclination to bother spilling the intimate details of their private life online.Admittedly, conclusions have been drawn from the findings of a much smaller group, but when it comes to the question of sex even the most honest of us would be tempted to spice up the more mundane reality and when you're young, when the opposite sex seems like the most importantand fascinating thing in the world, a few white lies never go amiss. So when the figures show 43 per cent have had a least five sexual partners and 18 per cent have had 10 or more, they probably include a few figments of the imagination and a couple of people they would have liked to have slept next to rather than with. Before a certain age, admitting you would actually much rather wait until the right man/woman came along, that the prospect of sex is frankly terrifying and that actually you would much rather spend Saturday nights in the company of a bottle of wine and some cheap TV, is only for the brave or the stupid and no assurances about confidentiality and anonymity will change that. There's always going to be the niggling worry that it's one giant conspiracy theory, that there will be a load of people ready to laugh at any inadequacies and when those who don't meet the sexiest of criteria an alarm sounds somewhere in cyberspace and an email about your sexual prowess or lack of it will be immediately sent to your nearest and dearest. It's hardly a surprise that we want everyone to think we are effortlessly irresistible to the opposite sex. Who wouldn't want to have the kind of magnetic libido which attracts only the eligible, witty and financially secure rather than having to sift through the mire which is 21st-century dating? And while celebrities get the blame for everything from increased cases of anorexia to encouraging binge drinking, they have been doing their very best to fuel our sexual appetites. Not a week goes by without someone confessing all about their bedroom habits, kiss'n'tell stories have never been more in demand and just to make us all feel really bad, Michael Douglas and Robbie Williams have even been admitted to therapy to cure their insatiable appetite for sex.Now sex addiction, which is presumably when innocent flirting spirals out of control, has always seemed like one bad habit most people wouldn't mind having. In today's fame obsessed society, increasing numbers of us are desperate to follow in the footsteps of celebrities and if all it takes is a little stretching of the truth to boost our libidos then so be it.And while we may all be more open in our desire to be sexual sirens, it's a feeling which has been rumbling on since long before glossy magazines became bibles for the sexual antics of our singers, film stars and those famous for simply being famous.Newspapers and gossip columns may have once been more discreet, but people didn't admire James Dean and Marilyn Monroe for their brains, they wanted to be like them because they oozed sex appeal, because they were good looking and, despite later evidence to the contrary, because they seemed to enjoy having it all.Yes, our attitude to sex has become more relaxed. Young people probably do have more sexual partners than 50 years ago, they may even have one night stands and occasionally they may not even remember their names, but in the often traumatic world of sex and relationships, the one thing which is certain is that we are all born liars.

He said, "I'm not really sure about that rapping. "When I first heard his new record it was funny. I cracked up. I was rolling around laughing." Despite the harsh review, Williams remains a staunch fan of his hip-hop critic. Sway said, "I got a text message from Robbie recently. He rates my album (THIS IS MY DEMO). Robbie Williams' 'Rubebox' Set to be a chart flop

Quoted from: http://www.entertainmentwise.com

'By: Daniel Melia on 9/6/2006
Robbie Williams' news single 'Rudebox' looks set to be a spectacular failure after poor sales since its release.
According to figures, Williams has shifted just 7000 copies of the single which sees him take a major departure from his usual sound.
He is currently languishing far behind this weeks other new releases from Scissor Sisters, Nelly Furtado and Justin Timberlake.
It looks like the diehard fans have stuck with the former Take That man but many of his less fervent followers have deserted him.
We wonder what they'll make of his new album then.

The song is not nearly as crap as most of the stuff on the radio. If all the critics say ’bad, bad, bad’ and no one takes the time to hear it themselves then thats just not fair to the performer. Rob has done a lot of good, if not fanastic over the years- its time to give credit where credit is due.

Rude awakening for Robbie's Rudebox

Quoted from: http://contactmusic.com

'Pop star ROBBIE WILLIAMS' new single RUDEBOX has been panned by horrified critics as "the worst single ever". The badly-received attempt at electro-funk has even been snubbed by pals including BBC Radio 1 DJs CHRIS MOYLES and EDITH BOWMAN. Moyles says, "I just think it's very odd. I wish he would get back with his old songwriter GUY CHAMBERS," while Bowman adds, "I'm not a big fan of this single". Meanwhile, British newspaper the Daily Mirror slam the release as "laughable" and "a huge embarrassment". A music industry insider says, "Robbie's new sound is a turn-off. He thought he could do a MADONNA - change his style and stay on top, but I'm afraid it has backfired. "Rudebox is something you either love or hate, and sadly for him, most people seem to hate it. "He's basically become the new CLIFF RICHARD - a hardcore of fans will pick it up automatically, but when it comes to racking up massive sales, it's a different story." Never hang out with Robbie Williams fans

Quoted from: http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk

'Tam Cowan
FRANK SINATRA, Engelbert Humperdinck, Neil Sedaka, Tony Bennett, Dean Martin, Andy Williams, Matt Monro, Tony Christie and Sydney Devine.
Put them all together and you know what? The wonderful Robbie Williams would still be a better singer.
OK, folks, now I've surely done enough to guarantee seeing Mrs Cowan in her birthday suit once again, here's what I really thought about Saturday night's trip to Hampden Park...
The fact I agreed to attend the concert instead of staying at home and watching Test The Nation: The National IQ Test on BBC1 probably means I'm a total dunce.
To be honest, though, I'm willing to wager half the crowd inside the stadium couldn't even spell 'IQ' and I felt as though I was stuck inside an aircraft hanger with 30,000 wannabes from The X Factor.
No, hang on. It was actually more like attending the AGM of the Vicky Pollard Appreciation Society.
To suggest our £45 seats were quite far from the stage is an understatement.
"Excuse me," I said to the guy selling the binoculars, "do you have any Hubble telescopes?"
Waiting for the show to start, Icouldn't help noticing the lad sitting in front of us had cotton wool in his lugholes. Do you think he had an ear infection - or was he simply a music lover? I've always thought Robbie is reminiscent of one of those baw-heid pub karaoke hosts who never gives anyone else a shot of the microphone.
And, after showing off his latest tattoo to the ladies (maybe old Steak 'n' Kidney should wow the women at the Pavilion this year by revealing the scar from his triple bypass operation) he urged the females to flash some flesh.
"Come on, I wanna see some tits!" he roared. His request was granted just a few moments later when Jonathan Wilkes strolled onto the stage.
If the line hadn't already been used 40 years ago at the Glasgow Empire when Mike Winters was joined on stage by his brother Bernie, I'd have been tempted to roar: "Oh Christ, there's two of them!"
The host of You've Been Framed (did I mention it was 45 quid for a ticket?) helped Robbie to murder a couple of songs synonymous with the great Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jnr.
Yep, let's hear it for Williams and Wilkes - The Crap Pack.
They then kicked a few footballs into the Hampden crowd. Sorry to keep going on about the £45 tickets, but you could watch that sort of stuff at any Queens Park game for a fraction of the price.
Nobody was injured. Well, apart from yours truly. On the way to the toilet, I tripped over the exposed breasts of a 43-year-old Robbie fan from Coatbridge.
And she was sitting on her boyfriend's shoulders at the time.
Robbie dedicated one of his hits to Colin Montgomerie, but I've no idea if the Scots golfer joined in the fun by getting his claret jugs out.
Another song - Sin Sin Sin - was performed as a tribute to the Scotland squad.
Shocking, eh?
After a resounding 6-0 victory against the Faroe Islands, surely Kris Boyd and Co. deserved better than a record that peaked in the charts at No.22?

Robbie Williams makes date for local concert

BRITISH pop singer Robbie Williams will make his live concert debut on the Chinese mainland at the Shanghai Hongkou Football Stadium on November 4. Shanghai is the superstar's only stop on the Chinese mainland for his Close Encounters World Tour 2006. After Shanghai, Williams will make just four other stops in Asia - in Hong Kong, Bangkok and Singapore. Tickets, from 180 yuan (US$22) to 1,580 yuan, will officially go on sale on September 14, according to China West Entertainment, one of the concert's organizers. However, some major local box offices are already open for advance bookings. Advance tickets will also be available at www.robbiewilliams.com from September 7. Shanghai music critic Sun Mengjin said he caught Williams's new tour in Germany and Austria, where the singer performed to packed houses of up to 90,000. Sun said Williams was not as popular in China as in Europe and predicted much of the audience in the 30,000-capacity Hongkou Stadium will be foreigners. "Major recording companies mainly promote Hong Kong and Taiwanese singers on the mainland and not European and American pop music," said Sun. "They believe they can make more money out of promoting Hong Kong and Taiwanese singers.' Tickets for Williams's show at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center on November 10 are already sold out. '

Williams: 'I constantly disappoint people'

Quoted from: http://contactmusic.com

'British pop hunk ROBBIE WILLIAMS has turned his back on socialising because he always disappoints fans he meets. The ROCK DJ singer used to enjoy visits to bars and clubs, but pressure from fans wanting to meet him forces him to stay at home. He says, "Clubs and bars fall apart when I'm in them. Men hate the presence of my security team. People want to speak to me and, after a few knock-backs, things become nasty. "I've refused permission for them to approach me, so they think I'm a w**ker. This happens everywhere I go, so I go out as little as possible. I've realised that when I'm in public, I'm constantly disappointing people."

Williams blaims weight on drugs

Quoted from: http://contactmusic.com

'ROBBIE WILLIAMS blames his weight battle on anti-depressant drugs he claims have "screwed up" his metabolism. The singer, whose weight has yo-yoed in recent years, began taking Effexor to lift his mood, but the side effects left him bloated and overweight. He says, "They screwed up my metabolism. All I eat is sushi. And I'm sick of it. I run and walk miles on the machine but the weight just won't come off."

Robbie's gone hip-hop happy

Every track on Robbie Williams' new album is refreshingly different

Being the king of pop is clearly not enough. Midway through his huge world tour, which will reach two million fans by the time it comes to an end in December, Robbie Williams is publicly questioning whether he wants "to be part of the machine any more".
What can the chart-dominating showman be thinking? His success has been built on a mastery of uncomplicated crowd-pleasers. Earlier this year he smashed a Guinness World Record by selling more than 1.6 million tickets for the tour in one day. But it seems that's not enough.
The same old stadium routine is failing to satisfy, and, album-wise, the 32-year-old has been steadfastly trudging the middle of the road; last November's Intensive Care found him treading water, failing to come up with a memorable hit single, though the album did reach the top spot.
Now, in what looks like a bid to find some sort of personal or musical integrity, he's made a radical decision: to ditch the popster material and start experimenting. Rudebox, the name of both this week's new single and an album to be released in late October, sounds unlike anything he has recorded before. Career suicide? Or stroke of genius? A sneak preview of 10 of the album's 17 tracks, arriving in my inbox under the codename "Ether", makes an interesting case for his new direction.
It includes five surprisingly leftfield cover versions, as well as collaborations with the Pet Shop Boys, the charts' hottest newcomer Lily Allen, and the ambient guru William Orbit. Guy Chambers, who co-wrote most of the big anthems (including Angels) with Robbie, is nowhere to be heard, nor is there much sign of his more recent collaborator, Stephen Duffy.
But Robbie's usual songwriting method - working intensively with a single collaborator - is rare in pop. Albums by Beyoncé, Britney and Christina Aguilera are given multiple personalities by armies of songwriters; Rudebox is equally schizophrenic.
Every track is refreshingly different, from the synth-laden cover of the Human League's minor 1984 hit, Louise, to the sparkling house interpretation of Lovelight by an obscure Barnet soul singer named Lewis Taylor, on which Robbie sings entirely in falsetto. Keep On is a collision of hefty dance beats and funk in the style of Fatboy Slim, while The Actor is an uneasy ballad dominated by heavy electronic bass. It's all masterminded by a selection of hip producers, including Soul Mekanik, DJ Joey Negro and Lily Allen's mentor, Mark Ronson.
There is whistling, techno, country guitar and, strangest of all, Robbie rapping. He recently revealed an obsession with the music of The Streets and The Mitchell Brothers, and after his much-derided attempts at rhyming on the single Rock DJ, now feels once again that being a white man from Stoke is no barrier to hip-hop success.
"I want to be a rapper," he proclaims in the copious promo material, "but the world won't let me." The stream of consciousness nonsense he comes out with on the Rudebox single may not convince the world to change its mind. "A-D-I-D-A-S/Old school, this is the best/TK Maxx costs less/Jackson looks a mess" is a typical example of his lyrical style.
There's more, most strikingly and effectively on the pair of songs called The Eighties and The Nineties. These track the story of his early years in painfully honest detail, including his arrival and departure from Take That. "Boys I don't believe it, I'm gonna be famous/Pick you up in a Porsche and buy you lots of trainers/I met the other guys, one seemed like a cock/I think it's gonna be like New Kids on the Block."
It's witty and rather poignant, despite the gags. Admittedly, he's not very good at rapping, but the zeal with which he tries is infectious. The enthusiastic approach has worked in the past: he wasn't very good at singing like Frank Sinatra, but that didn't stop his Swing When You're Winning album from soaring to number one in 2001.
In fact, the more songs that rush by in a colourful blur of experimentation, the more it becomes clear that this isn't his attempt to get out of the game. The overriding feeling is that he's letting his hair down and doing something fun. There's his effortlessly groovy duet with Allen, a cover of King of the Bongo by French superstar Manu Chao, and Viva Life on Mars, a hiphop hoedown that sounds like Beck.
On She's Madonna, the Pet Shop Boys use pulsing synths to help him tell the story of someone who leaves his fairly average girlfriend for the Queen of Pop: "I love you baby/But face it, she's Madonna." He even covers a track by New York art rockers My Robot Friend called We're the Pet Shop Boys - with the help of the Pet Shop Boys. It's all so cunningly referential that it's dizzying; this is a far cry from Freedom, the George Michael cover that was his first solo single in 1996.
The scattergun approach to musical style may well result in lower sales figures, but Robbie's not interested. He finally wants to please himself rather than his record label's shareholders.
"It's reignited how I think about what I can do with music myself. I've always been scared to try out different things, and on this album I think I've lost the fear of where I should be in my head as a populist artist." he wants us to know. "It means I can just go and do wonky pop now, which is all I really wanted to do anyway."
After his hugely successful Knebworth gigs in August 2003, he said to 125,000 people: "This is the point where my career dips, probably - but I don't care because this has made my life complete." Where do you go when you're at the pinnacle of your stardom? He could have disappeared to his LA bolthole and counted his money, but as an easily bored multi-millionaire with an addictive personality (see new song Good Doctor, a humorous dig at his own pill popping) this would never have been a wise move.
Instead, he's made the extraordinary decision to risk all the teenybopper fame and adoration and take a punt on the music. Robbie the family-friendly entertainer has finally acquired the mentality of a proper musician.
"It started off as a busman's holiday this time around," he declares, "but it's something on which I've found myself." Robbie's next chapter starts here, and it's going to be an interesting one.
• The single Rudebox is out on EMI this week. The album of the same name is released on 23 October. '
