Williams facing mauling at the hands of Ramsey

Quoted from: http://contactmusic.com

'British pop star ROBBIE WILLIAMS faces having his "a**e kicked" by celebrity chef GORDON RAMSAY when their teams compete in the Soccer Aid charity match next month (APR06). Ramsay played for leading Scottish football club Rangers before injury prematurely ended his promising career, and he will lead the Rest Of The World team while Williams captains the England side at Manchester United's famous ground Old Trafford. Ramsay says, "It's going to be 5-1 to us, definitely. "I'm encouraging Robbie to go back on the fags and I've been doing some out-of-doors extra training as well, if you know what I mean." Manchester United manager SIR ALEX FERGUSON will be managing Ramsay's team for the charity event. He says of the feisty chef, "I can't wait to work with him - there will be a lot of heat and tension and emotion. "There will probably be some boot-throwing and some food-flying but I don't take orders from no man."

Robbie causes a stir in Camps Bay

Quoted from: http://entertainment.iafrica.com

Fri, 31 Mar 2006

A fortnight ahead of his hugely anticipated concert tour of South Africa, British superstar Robbie Williams has been enjoying the Cape Town nightlife, taking over the VIP section of Camps Bay club Ignite on Thursday evening with a small group of friends.
Williams, whose concerts in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town in April sold out in minutes, had reportedly been watching a fireworks festival at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town the previous evening.
But on Thursday it was the singer causing the fireworks, as word spread rapidly around the club that Williams was in attendance.
A queue quickly formed outside the VIP section, curtained off from the rest of the club, a chic Cape Town hangout overlooking Camps Bay beach that is popular with the city's well-heeled partygoers.
Security allowed some patrons in to meet Williams, who appeared relaxed and in good spirits, causing great excitement amongst those granted a fleeting audience with the former boy band Take That star.
Williams will play Cape Town's Green Point Stadium on April 13 as part of his world tour.'

Temporary inconveniences on official site on Saturday

http://www.robbiewilliams.com, the official Robbie site, will have some temporary inconveniences next Saturday.
According to the webmasters of the official site, it will temporarily experience a lot of flashing, blinking and the occurance of weird sounds during the day: "It is a side-effect of the Macromedia Flash Player software with which the site was created. On certain dates in the year sites created with the Flash Player exhibit these weird side-effects. Thats why its called Flash Player by the way. Very inconvenient, but totally harmless. Not many people know about these side-effects though. And lets keep it that way, and hope the site will not have many visitors next Saturday!" '

Concerts cancelled due to Wembley delay

Quoted from: http://www.telegraph.co.uk

'(Filed: 30/03/2006)

Four major concerts scheduled for the new Wembley stadium have been moved elsewhere because the venue will not be ready.

Work continues on Wembley

Bon Jovi shows on June 10 and 11, and Take That concerts on June 24 and 25 have been switched to the Milton Keynes Bowl. A statement on the Bon Jovi website said: "After contact with Wembley it is evident that the Stadium will not be ready for the Bon Jovi shows in June."
The official deadline for the hand-over of the stadium will be passed tomorrow but the Football Association is still waiting to hear when building work will be finished.
The construction company, Multiplex, is due to make an announcement on progress to the Australian stock exchange.
The FA has already decided to hold the FA Cup final on May 13 in Cardiff and contingency plans are in place to hold the Community Shield on August 13 there too.
Meanwhile, the Rugby Football League is expected to turn to Twickenham if, as expected, Wembley will not be pronounced ready to hold the Challenge Cup final on August 26.
Further summer concerts are scheduled for Wembley, with Robbie Williams and the Rolling Stones both due to play. It was unclear tonight whether they would be able to play.
The Stones are down to play two shows in August, while Williams is due to play five nights in September.
Multiplex has already admitted to a £106 million loss on Wembley but says that includes all the penalty clauses it will have to face for missing the hand-over.
Problems have continued to mount for Multiplex. Stadium contractors have been holding talks with unions in a bid to avoid hundreds of workers being laid off in a pay dispute. Workers were sent home for a day last week after a roof beam collapsed. There have also been problems with the sewers under the 90,000-seat stadium. '

Motorola sponsors Robbie Williams tour

Quoted from: http://www.bizcommunity.com/

'Motorola South Africa announced yesterday, 29 March, that it is sponsoring The Robbie Williams South African Tour, bringing South African audiences the biggest selling artist of the 21st century in concert. The tour pre-empts Motorola's launch of the next generation Motorola ROKR E2 handset, which offers the ultimate fusion of music and mobility, the brand says.
"Music is one of the pillars which Motorola stands for. We strive towards delivering solutions that make anytime, anywhere and always-on entertainment and communication a personal reality for consumers. Robbie Williams is not only one of the world's leading entertainers but perhaps one of the most fascinating personalities today. So it is only fitting that we at Motorola support such an iconic artist," said Sarit Reouveni, Motorola's Head of Marketing in South Africa.
Kicking off in Durban on Monday, April 10 and continuing in Cape Town on Thursday, April 13 and Pretoria on Monday, April 17, The Robbie Williams South African Tour promises to be the musical concert experience of 2006.
Already the concert has broken box office records, with 16 000 tickets sold within the first 25 minutes on the self-appointed new King of Pop's website, while tickets to the Cape Town and Pretoria legs of the tour sold out within five hours of going on sale - breaking all records according to the tour organisers.
In fact, globally Robbie Williams' World Tour is no stranger to breaking records, with tickets in every country on the forthcoming tour sold-out within a few hours, earning him a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records.

Robbie fuels Take That goss

Quoted from: http://www.sky.com

'Take That fans haven't given up hope that Robbie will join his fellow band mates in their comeback tour. So the latest sighting of Rob on these shores will have made their hearts leap.
Robbie was in London on a flying visit from LA, before flying off to South Africa to film the video for his new single. And where was he spotted? Outside a recording studio. With? None other than ex-Take That pin-up Mark Owen.
Now if that doesn't put ideas into a fan's head, what will? But sadly, according to pals, the boys aren't getting Back For Good - despite appearances. Robbie had called his old pal over for a jam at the studio. Mark showed up with his pregnant girlfriend, Emma Ferguson, and Rob played them some of his new tracks. Together they spent six hours catching up.
Oh well. Fans will just have to Pray that Mark persuaded the star to turn up for some of the band's gigs next month.'

Robbie Williams flies in amid rumours

Quoted from: http://tonight.co.za

'March 29, 2006

By Sally Scott

United Kingdom mega pop star Robbie Williams arrived in South Africa yesterday and is in Cape Town getting ready for his three-city tour, which starts in Durban at the Absa Stadium on Monday, April 10.

Needless to say, with the tour only two weeks away, Robbie Williams fever is hotting up in KZN with the rumour wheel twirling away with all sorts tales in some newspapers and on some radio stations, in particular pertaining to Williams's so-called demands for his South African tour.

A newspaper story earlier this week stated that Williams had said he would not have time to meet Nelson Mandela - most overseas celebs usually have meeting Mandela on top of their wish list.

Asked for comment, Big Concerts marketing manager Michael Anetakis told the Daily News he was misquoted.

"I was asked if Robbie was going to meet with Mandela while he was in South Africa, to which I answered 'not at this stage but depending on if his schedule allows for it I am sure he will ask us to set this up

As for demands for luxuries in his dressing room, Williams, who would be the first to admit that he is a recovering boozer of note, has stipulated simply that there must be no alcohol in his room, although the band, who have a separate dressing room, will have wine and some champagne.

Says Anetakis: "I have looked through his rider and there is nothing out of the ordinary on his dressing room requirements. Everything asked for are items that are necessities that any one of us would ask for in a dressing room."

Durban is the only venue in the world not to have sold out tickets for the Robbie Williams tour. Not that there are many left now - a few hundred only.

Meanwhile, six German couples, who could not buy tickets for Williams's concert in their own country, but managed to nab some for the Durban leg, are flying in to see the man rock this city.

So, word so far from those in the know - Williams is very down to earth and not big on demands.'

Rob's piercing horror

Quoted from: http://www.sky.com/

' Robbie Williams during stunt

Robbie Williams has long been a fan of the tattoo.

But now he's gone in for a much more extreme form of body decoration - he's had some rather nasty-looking piercing action.

Two 14-inch needles through each forearm, to be exact.

But don't worry, it's all for a stunt on Derren Brown's Channel 4 special, which will be aired on Easter Sunday.

The illusionist put the Robster into a trance before skewering his arms - which were suspended by his sides with chains, like something out of a horror flick.

Apparently brave Rob felt no pain - but did turn a greener shade of sick as the spikes went through his flesh.

Derren Brown with Rob

Derren Brown with Rob

Derren said: "By the end, Robbie is looking quite sickened and troubled. To be fair, they were massive needles."

The hypnotist knew he'd have to do more than a simple card trick to impress Rob, and thought he'd want to know every little detail.

He said: "He was just up for it. He was delightful and easy about it all. Mind you, he looked quite troubled by the end of it."

Apparently the whole thing's given the star ideas and he's thinking about doing it for real now.

Robbie - who had to chant Three Blind Mice to remain in a trance - said: "I want to decorate my body like that. Perhaps Derren can come on tour with me and insert them." '

Robbie, Madiba story 'incorrect'

Quoted from: http://www.news24.com

'28/03/2006 09:13 - (SA)
Cape Town - The news report that Robbie Williams is refusing to meet former president Nelson Mandela, made by Afrikaans Sunday newspaper the Rapport and online publisher News24, is factually incorrect, Big Concerts said in a statement on Monday evening.
Both publications reported that Williams had requested "soft toilet paper, soccer in Soweto, four ashtrays, four packets of cigarettes, two full-length mirrors in which he can admire himself, but that the star didn't want to meet the world's biggest icon, former president Nelson Mandela".
Big Concerts said the information regarding Mandela was incorrect.
"It resulted from an enquiry posed to Big Concerts' marketing manager, Michael Anetakis, by a journalist as to whether or not Robbie Williams had requested that Big Concerts arrange such a meeting.
"Michael's response was 'no, he has not made the request, but should the request be made, we would then contact Madiba's office'", Big Concerts says.
"In other words, Robbie Williams has not requested to meet with Nelson Mandela, but he is also not refusing to meet with him.
"At this time, we can confirm that there have been no requests from Robbie Williams to meet with Madiba, nor from Madiba to meet with Robbie Williams", Big Concerts says.

Skinner who's publicly revealed his drug and alcohol problems sees many parallels between himself and Williams brought on by celebrity life.
Reflecting on his new song 'When You Wasn't Famous' which focuses on gold-diggers and users, Skinner said: 'What you're seeing in Robbie Williams' eyes is that he's tested all women and all have failed.
'When you're famous you get given these X-Ray specs and you see everyone's flaws - your own included.'

Gavin Prins

Johannesburg - Soft toilet paper, soccer in Soweto, four ashtrays, four packets of cigarettes and two full-length mirrors in which he can admire himself. But he doesn't want to meet the world's biggest icon, former president Nelson Mandela.
These are the demands of pop music's naughtiest son, Robbie Williams, for his visit to South Africa early in April.
The organisers are desperate about the absurd demands by the singer. A list of places to visit, including an offer to meet Mandela, were earlier sent to the singer. But the list was returned with a note that he was "not happy" with the tour arrangements.
Williams didn't say why he doesn't want to meet Mandela. Artists and other celebrities usually can't wait to be in Mandela's presence, even just for a few minutes.
Robbie, who bought a share in a local soccer club in London last month, wants to play soccer with a South African team. The details are still a secret, as Big Concerts, who will be responsible for the tour refuses to comment.
Alcohol (in capital letters ) tops the list of things Williams does not want. When he left Take That, the singer, one of the highest-paid artists in the world, was still using drugs and alcohol. He is still recovering from alcohol abuse during his "confused years".
Robbie wants a bowl of fruit (water melon, honeydew melon and ordinary melon) in his room, as well as mountains of bottles of mineral water, Diet Coke, pepermint drops and chocolate containing a lot of protein.
He also wants six large rooms - for the members of the band and himself to be used as dressing rooms, another one where they can relax and yet another one for their equipment. The rooms must be equipped with carpets and functioning airconditioning.
It seems as if his band members are going to have a good time. The liquor in their rooms must be "of good quality", and must include white and red wine, Veuve Clicquot champagne and beer.
"Please make sure that the liquor is not mixed with soft drinks," read the list Rapport had a look at. '

The hide 'n' seek farce continued after the megastar enjoyed a slap-up feast with The Pet Shop Boys' Neil Tennant, PR Vicki Lowe and some male pals.

Algarve Summer Festival near to closing the bill

What is certain is that the programme will be presented well before the date of the event, contrary to what happened in the 2005 edition. ITV hopes for World Cup fever

Quoted from: http://news.scotsman.com/

'FERGUS SHEPPARD
MEDIA CORRESPONDENT

ITV is betting its summer schedule on the World Cup to lift both audiences and advertising with shows including a celebrity football tournament starring Robbie Williams and the Scottish chef Gordon Ramsay.
Proven ratings-winners such as Ant and Dec, The X-Factor and even much-criticised reality show Celebrity Love Island also return in an effort by the commercial broadcaster to stem the steady loss of viewers to newer digital channels.

Soccer Aid, due to be shown in May, is the curtain-raiser for ITV's football frenzy. An England team managed by Terry Venables and captained by Robbie Williams, with former England players in its ranks, will take on a "rest of the world" team led by Gordon Ramsay.
The name Soccer Aid comes from the fact the event is designed to raise money for UNICEF.
One of ITV's two new dramas, Pickles, also has a World Cup theme. It relates the story of how a mongrel dog called Pickles found the cup after it was stolen from Central Hall in Westminster, London, after England's 1966 World Cup victory.
Another ITV live spectacular will be a show at the Tower of London to mark the 30th birthday of the Prince's Trust, hosted by Cat Deeley and Vernon Kay, and also featuring interviews with princes Charles, William and Harry, which will be conducted by Ant and Dec.

Robbie Williams gets his cards

Quoted from: http://www.techdigest.tv

'There's something of a rift at TD towers at the moment over today's launch of the Robbie Williams Greatest Hits album. While some of the crew have been know to serenade their loved-ones with the chorus of Angels and have even spluttered their way through karaoke versions of the rap in the middle of Supreme others argue that Robster was never the same after he stopped being the supersized member of Take That.
Still, digital music lovers can make their own minds up for the album is set to become the first ever in the world to be released not just on CD and vinyl, but also on MMC memory card.
Available exclusively through The Carphone Warehouse the card, which is compatible with most high-end Nokias, apparently has all the tracks in CD like quality and is deigned to slip neatly into a person's mobile phone.
While we welcome such innovation, surely it would make more sense to buy the CD, rip it to MP3 and then transfer it to a blank card. Sure users might have to buy a smart card reader, but aren't these now essential items for any camera phone owner.
Also will you be able to transfer the tracks from the card on to a PC? Carphone doesn't know.
Now where did we leave those tiger pants?'

Schedules ditch reference to celebrities (but still use a few)

Quoted from: http://business.guardian.co.uk

'Owen Gibson, media correspondentFriday March 24, 2006

The Guardian
ITV's director of television, Simon Shaps, unveiled his spring clean of the broadcaster's schedules yesterday, throwing out any reference to celebrities in programme titles and announcing one-off events featuring big names from Robbie Williams to Prince William.
Last summer proved disastrous for ITV with a ratings collapse caused by flops such as Celebrity Wrestling presaging the autumn shake-up that led to the appointment of Mr Shaps and the departure of most of the senior commissioning team.
One of those flops, Love Island, will return without its Celebrity prefix and will be joined by X-Factor Special Edition, a celebrity version of the musical talent show designed to win viewers from Channel 4's Big Brother.
But Mr Shaps said ITV would try and "mix it up a bit", introducing a number of new shows designed to appeal to a wide range of viewers rather than just 16 to 34-year-olds. They include Soccer Aid, a pro-celebrity charity football match pitting an England team captained by Robbie Williams and managed by Terry Venables against a Rest of the World side captained by the chef Gordon Ramsay.
A series of shows will celebrate the 30th birthday of the Prince's Trust, including an interview by Ant and Dec of Prince Charles and his sons. The ubiquitous Geordie pair have also been handed their own new quiz show, which has the working title Con.Test and will offer a £1m prize. New dramas include See No Evil: The Story of the Moors Murders and Vital Signs, the latest vehicle for the former soap star Tamzin Outhwaite.
Mr Shaps, who refused to be drawn on the takeover speculation engulfing ITV, said the aim of his first season's launch was to create a "balanced schedule" with more of the kind of "event television" that draws in viewers.
He said that in such a competitive environment, ITV could no longer afford to save its big guns for the autumn. The World Cup, which kicks off in June and which ITV shares with the BBC, offers the broadcaster a chance to bring more viewers to its summer schedule. "It is an opportunity to hold a string of events around that one mega event," said Mr Shaps, previously chief executive of ITV Productions. "Among all age groups, we want ITV to be consistent, must-watch TV." '

Potteries superstar Robbie Williams is backing the campaign to help eight-year-old Simon Nicholson and other autism sufferers like him get the support they need. Robbie, a long time supporter of the North Staffordshire Asperger and Autism Association (NSAAA), has been keeping a close eye on the fight for better services for people with autism.
Since The Sentinel launched its Sign Up For Simon campaign, in conjunction with the NSAAA, more than 1,000 people have added their names to the petition calling for better services and support.
Simon, a regular at the NSAAA's base in Newcastle with his mum Diane, is one of more than 1,000 Staffordshire youngsters who have the behavioural condition autism.
The NSAAA was only launched thanks to a £60,000 grant from Robbie's Give It Sum fund and his mother Jan is a patron of the charity. Although now based in Los Angeles, Robbie has a keen interest in the NSAAA and what is happening to support autism sufferers in his home county.
Jan said: "I talk to Robert about the NSAAA and autism in North Staffordshire and he keeps a close eye on what is going on."He's very pleased with the success the NSAAA has had, he has watched it since it was first formed."I feel very privileged to be involved." '

Highest bidder to bag George's Oscar goodies

Quoted from: http://www.hellomagazine.com/

'17 MARCH 2006

When George Clooney was named best supporting actor at the Academy Awards earlier this month, he promptly quipped "so I'm not winning director?". It would appear the 44-year-old heart-throb, who was in the running for three gongs, was more than satisfied with just one memento of the big night, however, as he has decided to give away the lavish goodie bag he received from organisers.
The Syriana star is donating the gifts, which have a combined value of over £60,000, to charity. The luxury items are to be auctioned by the United Way emergency relief fund in order to raise money for people who lost their homes to Hurricane Katrina last year. Among the luxury contents of the sack is a £15,000 voucher for a break in the exclusive Halekulani Hotel on Hawaii's Waikiki Beach. There is also a pair of diamond-studded flip-flops, a £2,000 diamond watch and a £5,000 bra and pantie set from Victoria's Secret. This last item may have been part of the reason George said he had "no need" of the presents, but he is already well-known for his support of United Way, having previously donated £600,000 of his own money. The auction is due to start next Wednesday on the organisation's website, with the popular actor promising to send a hand-written thank you note to the highest bidder.

And America's man of the moment isn't the only big name who's prone to extravagant gestures, as British pop star Robbie Williams has also been showing his generous side. Charity workers manning the stall at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London were left open-mouthed when the singer handed over his collection of cuddly toys. "We've just had a big delivery of stuffed toys from Robbie," revealed one of the employees. "I don't think I've ever seen so many in my life. There were teddies, dogs, rabbits, lions, and we were told that more were on their way." '

Miss P. and K. The F. break up... has Robbie finally found his Missus?

Not so long ago, Toons Shack headquarters received a mysterious phonecall. "Yes....its me, Miss P.", a pirky voice started. "Ive got a hot story for The Robbie Gossip Gazette... are you interested?" Ofcourse The Robbie Gossip Gazette is always interested in hot stories so an appointment was made ASAP with the dame in question.

At the day of the interview, the door of The Robbie Gossip Gazette office swung wide open and there the mystery lady stood in the doorway, legs firmly planted on the ground.... "Hi...I'm Miss P.! The one and only Missus!"

Editor: "Euh...welcome Miss P., please have a seat. Would you like some coffee?"
Miss P.: "Yup! Starbux coffee please! And make it fast, I havent got all day!"
Editor: "Shall we cut to the cake now please, what is that hot story you've got??"
Miss P.: "Yes I'd looooove some cake aswell, hurry!"
Editor: "Sigh... allright allright, but tell us now!!!"
Miss P.: "Well OK then...I've dumped Kermit, he really croaks too much. Croak here, croak there. And he's sooooo jumpy..."

Miss P. and K. The F. in happier times

Miss P.: "I've got another admirer now. He's a singer, songwriter AND an entertainer and sooooo handsome. Robbie is his name. We've really got it going now! Whenever we meet he kisses me in the ... and the ... and ooo the .. and he does the .... to me and... *grunt*. It's a dream!"

A close source to Miss P. has told our reporter: "They have really hit it off! When they saw eachother for the first time they could not keep their hands off eachother and they have been on a string of dates ever since! She is a very down-to earth person and takes her beauty also very serious, taking mud-baths regularly. Robbie keeps text-messaging her with all sorts of naughty stuff!! Or was it Kermie... I couldnt read it very well".

Miss P. as The Queen Of Hearts in "The Muppet Show"

Miss P. is a famous actress who has played amongst others in "The Muppet Show", so she already knows the show-business world inside out and would therefore be a good match for Robbie.

Miss P. .. Or will it be Miss W. real soon?

South Africa: Freshlyground to support Robbie Williams tour

British band The Wire Daisies and platinum selling South African local band, Freshlyground have been chosen as support acts on the Robbie Williams tour next month, Big Concerts announced today.

"Tickets to the Cape Town and Pretoria legs of the tour were sold-out within five hours of going on sale, breaking all records imaginable," said spokeswoman Lara Cohen. Tickets in every country on Williams' upcoming world-tour had been sold-out within a few hours, earning him a place in the Guinness Book of World Records, she said. The South African-leg of tour starts at the ABSA Stadium in Durban on April 10, moving to the Green Point Stadium in Cape Town on April 13, and to the Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria on April 17. The four-piece Wire Daisies combine their love of old-school singer-song writing with the energy of modern British rock, said Cohen. Their debut album "Just Another Day" went to number one on the French and British iTunes charts, with "Everyman" hitting a weekly radio audience of 11 million people. "Their superbly crafted songs perfectly catch the sound of this year's hot summer nights," she said. Freshlyground's seven musicians from South Africa, Mozambique and Zimbabwe captured South African audiences with the catchy hit "Doo Be Doo". Aside from performing in major music festivals they were also asked to play before President Thabo Mbeki at the opening of Parliament on the eve of the celebrations of 10 years of democracy.

A package deal for Robbie fans

Quoted from: http://www.gulf-daily-news.com

'IT's good news for Bahrain fans of British superstar Robbie Williams, as packages are introduced for the singer's concert in Dubai to non-UAE residents.
This is the first time that Robbie Williams, a former member of British boy band Take That who has made it big as a solo star, is set to perform in the GCC.
His greatest hits include Let Me Entertain You, Angels, The Road to Mandalay, Come Undone and Rock DJ.
Due to popular demand, 'several more tickets' are being sold as part of packages through Dubai Sporting Holidays on www.dubaisportingholidays.com or by visiting www. boxofficeme. com
Many Bahrain-based Robbie Williams fans last week expressed their disappointment when all 23,000 tickets for the star's debut Middle East concert on April 21 was sold out within two hours of being launched last Wednesday.
Huge queues were reported at ticket counters at Virgin Megastores and Hallmark outlets in Dubai as early as 5am.
Robbie Williams set a world record in November last year by selling more than 1.6 million tickets for his 2006 world tour in one day. He set another record in the Gulf last week by selling all individual tickets in less than three hours.
Promoters Midas Promotions are noting the ticket sale as the fastest sell-out in the history of the region.
Some ticket-holders are reportedly making huge profits by offering Robbie Williams concert tickets on auction websites www.ebay.com and www.souq.com.
One seller's two Grandstand tickets, originally bought for BD189.500 each, have already fetched up to BD950.
But a Dubai Sporting Holidays spokesman told the GDN that Bahrain fans still have a chance to catch the concert through a deal it has made with a number of hotels and airlines.
"We have put together six great value, two-night packages which include flights if required, meet-and-greet at the Dubai International Airport, all transfers and hotel accommodation for two nights," he said. "These packages are designed for those not based in the UAE."
Flights, priced at BD68, leave on April 20 for Dubai and the return date to Bahrain is April 22. Hotel (two- to five-star) accommodation prices are from BD119 for two nights.
Concert tickets are priced AED195 to AED795 (about BD19.500 to BD79.500) with special Millennium Grandstand catered packages sold at AED1,395 and AED1,895 (BD139.500 and BD189.500).
The concert is slated for April 21 at Dubai's Nad Al Sheba's Mill Grandstand.
Robbie Williams' Gulf concert will close the first leg of his 2006 tour.'

Shayne's text xxx factor

'By Brian Roberts
POP star Shayne Ward has been sending pornographic text messages to his celebrity pals - thanks to a virus on his mobile.
The contacts list on the X Factor winner's phone has been infected and the virus is working its way through his famous friends' numbers.
Robbie Williams and X Factor judges Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh have received the texts: "Open this for some sexy fun."
Fellow contestant Brenda Edwards also got a saucy text from Shayne's phone - and she gave him a clip round the ear. He has told them: "I can't help it - it's the phone that's doing it, not me."
News of the virus emerged on Manchester radio station Key 103 after breakfast DJ Mike Toolan got a rude text.
A friend said: "When they bumped into each other at a showbiz bash, Mike asked Shayne what the hell he was playing at.
"Shayne went a deep shade of red and told him it was a virus - and there was nothing he could do."
Shayne, 21, is said to be "absolutely mortified".'

Robbie Williams announces Middle East show

Quoted from: http://the-raft.com/

'Watch out Dubai, here comes Robbie! Robbie Williams this week announced his first ever gig in the Middle East with a concert at the Nad Al Sheba stadium in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates on 21 April.
The show promises to be the biggest concert ever in Dubai, with an audience of some 25,000 fans. UAE was one of the first territories to embrace Robbie after the UK and he is by far the most popular international male artist in the Gulf state with a string of platinum-selling albums.
Tickets for the gig went on sale this week and were all sold within two hours. Some 2,000 were sold online before the sheer volume of traffic to the site caused it to collapse!
The Dubai gig will close the first leg of Robbie’s 2006 tour which also takes him to South Africa with gigs in Durban, Cape Town and Pretoria.
Robbie is currently in South Africa filming the video to the third single from his current album 'Intensive Care', the uptempo 'Sin, Sin, Sin' with director Vaughan Arnell, the man behind his promos for 'Angels', 'Feel', 'Rock DJ' and 'Millennium'. '

Howard: Rob will return

Quoted from: http://www.thesun.co.uk/

'By NADIA BROOKS
Sun Online

ROBBIE Williams WILL definitely appear on stage with Take That again says former band mate Howard Donald.
The boy band, who are touring again this summer, have left the door wide open for Robbie to join them on stage.
And Howard is positive it's going to happen.
He said: "I know it'll happen. If he doesn't come on stage with us on this tour, I know at some point Robbie will once more."
Howard continued: "Never say never. We all know how successful Rob's been with his solo career but then again he's got lots of good memories from his time in the band. He's very proud of his roots. So why wouldn't he?"
Howard said the band were busy rehearsing for Take That: The Ultimate Tour 06 which kicks off in Newcastle at the end of April.
It's the UK's second fastest-selling tour this year just behind Robbie's.
But Howard said the lads were definitely not Back For Good, adding: "The band's not back together." '

Let Me Entertain You - Dubai style

Quoted from: http://www.7days.ae/

'Thursday, 09 March 2006

Picture the scene: in a shopping mall, eerily empty but for a handful of security guards, three women burst through the doors at the crack of dawn.
Excitedly they race up the escalators to unfold their deck chairs to take front position in an anticipated queue outside the boarded-up main entrance of Virgin Megatore at the Mercato Mall.
Sally Brumwell and Jayne Cunningham from the UK and Maltese Miriam Asciak have on them everything they need: a flask of tea, a packet of Digestive biscuits to keep up their energy levels and several hundred dirhams in their pocket to each snap up six standing tickets to the first Robbie Williams concert in Dubai, on April 21.
Within several minutes, the trio is joined by another group of excited Robbie fans. Three hours later a queue of a few hundred of people snake their way around the first floor of the shopping mall, much to the bemusement of security staff and early-morning cleaners.
Elsewhere across the UAE long queues - on a scale never seen before - had started forming outside Virgin stores at Deira City Centre, BurJuman, Mall of the Emirates and at Abu Dhabi Mall.
By 11am all available tickets for the concert that has a 25,000 capacity had sold out much to the disappointment of scores of fans who continued to trickle into Virgin stores throughout the day only to be turned away.
Emerging from Virgin in Mercato at 9.10am with her clutch of tickets, die-hard Robbie fan Jayne said: 'I've seen Robbie five times in concert and he's the most amazing performer. When I heard he was coming to Dubai, I was thrilled and amazed.
'I even have friends and relatives coming over from the UK for the concert.' Emirati Ahmed Ali who'd been queuing since 8am said:
'When I first heard Robbie Williams being played in a restaurant, I decided to buy a couple of his albums and was even more impressed with his music. I'm looking forward to a family day out at the concert.'
At Mall of the Emirates fans turned up as early as 4am. Mark Page who arrived at 7am waited four hours to claim the last of the front row standing tickets.
He said: 'I can't believe how lucky I've been. If I'd have arrived any later, I might have been turned away empty handed.'
A manager at Virgin admitted that the scale of queues had never before been witnessed in Dubai and that they restricted sales to six tickets per person to curb the risk of touting.
However, for every 25,000 Robbie fan looking forward to the concert, there' s likely to be many more lamenting the fact that they won't be going to the show.
Bonny said: 'I left Mercato hoping the queue at the Mall of the Emirates would be shorter.
'But no such luck. I suppose I'll have to listen to the concert on the radio at home.'
Such has been the overwhelming response, that Midas Promotions, the company hosting the show, is asking people not to turn up to the concert unless they have a ticket and if they do, to leave at least two hours before the performance begins at 8.30pm sharp.
Rachel Monk, representing EMI in the UAE, Robbie's record label, said: 'Based on Robbie's track record, we expected tickets to sell fast but nothing quite like on the scale that we saw yesterday morning.'
The concert at Nad Al Sheba comes less than five weeks after the world-famous racecourse hosts the Dubai World Cup.
After the horse race, a special floor will be laid to the cover the hallowed turf at Nad Al Sheba along with a purpose-built stage featuring more than 200 moving lights with large screens either side.
The concert is the second fixture of the Robbie Williams world tour after Cape Town on April 10. A team of personal assistants for Robbie will be arriving in Dubai next week to view three luxury hotels for the star to spend his brief stay.
Midas Promotions are remaining tight-lipped over the exact whereabouts of the star who has also declined to hold any press conferences in the UAE.
However, music shops are expecting sales of Robbie's latest platinum-selling album 'Intensive Care' which took two years in the making and shot to one in 18 different countries, to rocket in the run up to the concert.
Naki Kalajleh, manager of Virgin at Mercato, said: 'Before any concert, album sales rise but as this is the biggest show Dubai has ever seen, we're expecting bumper sales of Robbie records.''

Really Bad Day Bread Pudding

Quoted from: http://www.clarionledger.com/

'By Courtney Taylormailto:Taylorstyle@jackson.gannett.com

There are many lessons I teach my children every day in the kitchen. Putting together a dessert from a little of this and next to nothing of that is a basic act of optimism that teaches one to make the most of everything.
It is an example of the indomitable spirit that the Southern women in my family share. It's gratitude for every day of life, every crumb of success, every drop of love. Or as my great grandmother used to say, "Be grateful for everything you have; clean your plate."
WHAT AN ACT
Here is a recipe that I re-vamped from friend Robbie Williams, an actor in Los Angeles who is also the product of strong Southern women.
He says he developed this in a time of great emotional and financial need, after not getting a part for which he'd auditioned three times. Not only did it satisfy his craving for something warm, comforting and chocolate, it used exactly what he had on hand in the pantry. And since it makes enough for six, he was able to nurture his soul with this silky pudding for three days.
"The only practical ingredients I had in the house were a couple of eggs, a quart of milk, a little butter, the sugar in the sugar bowl and a stale loaf of challah bread," Williams says. "After not getting that part, I took great pleasure in shredding that old loaf of challah ... all that was left were crumbs, and I had to make something to eat."
Williams found a bit of chocolate, vanilla and cinnamon to round out the ingredients as well as a little Kahlua left over from a party. "I seriously contemplated drinking the Kahlua," he says, "but then I remembered my grandmother's bread pudding and I starting tearing through my cabinets for other ingredients ... so, when life gave me lemons, I made fabulous chocolate silk bread pudding."
EASY SCRIPT
Here's how. In a large sauce pan heat 4 cups of milk, 1/4 cup of butter, cut into pieces, and 4 ounces of unsweetened chocolate, chopped, over moderately low heat, whisking until the butter and chocolate are melted and the mixture is smooth.
In a large bowl whisk together 2 large eggs, 1/2 cup of sugar, 1 teaspoon of vanilla, 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon and 1/4 teaspoon salt. And whisk in 2 cups finely shredded bread crumbs (you can make them in the food processor).
Add the hot milk mixture in a stream, whisking, then 1/4 cup of Kahlua (if you have it on hand) and pour the pudding mixture into a buttered 1 1/2-quart shallow baking dish. Bake in the middle of a preheated 325-oven for 45 minutes, or until tester comes out clean. Let the pudding cool until just warm.
Williams says he ate it warm, in small very small portions, out of a coffee cup and named it "Really Bad Day Bread Pudding." These days, life is better, so he serves generous portions with fresh whipped cream.
COOKING AS ART
Although this dessert was originally made in a mad creative frenzy and consumed in great hunger, most of us don't need to eat dessert. By making dessert from that bit of stale bread or from last night's rice, we are able to enjoy something extra, a little morsel to end a meal sweetly not because it's necessary but because it tastes good.
This impulse changes food from something that keeps us alive into one that gives us pleasure. Maybe this is when cooking becomes art.'

Williams' singing disturbs bats

http://contactmusic.com

'British pop star ROBBIE WILLIAMS could be forced to axe two German concert dates after it was revealed the outdoor venue could frighten rare breeds of bat. The ANGELS singer is scheduled to perform in front of 160,000 fans in a field near Cologne this summer (08-09AUG06). But the gigs have been put in jeopardy by local environmental regulations, which prohibit events that threaten the site's flora and fauna. Although officials have already safeguarded the meadow's plantlife, they fear the concerts' volume, and the preparations leading up to them, could scare off the rare Daubenton and Pipistrelle bats which inhabit the area. However, ANNETTE ROETTGEN, a spokesperson for the gigs' organiser Concert Team, insists the dates haven't been written off yet. She promises the company is doing all it can to ensure the bats are not disturbed, even funding a study into the matter. She says, "It is still cheaper then paying damages later. "We will do everything we are asked for, so that the animals will survive the Robbie concerts."

The ex-TAKE THAT singer had already undergone therapy for his own drug problems, and convinced her to do the same. She says, "Robbie was the first person I admitted my problem to. We met through friends and he was the only person I knew who had been through rehab. "He was really kind and our conversation planted a seed and gave me hope."

Robbie Williams becomes a human pin cushion

'For new Derren Brown TV show...
By: Daniel Melia on 3/5/2006

Robbie Williams has took part in one of the scariest TV magic stunts in history letting Derren Brown turn him into a 'human pin cushion'.
Williams took part in the stomach churning act where he was put into a trance while the notorious magician pierced his arms with huge needles for a Channel 4 show.
The trance was supposed to allow Williams to block out the pain but Brown told the Sunday Mirror: "By the end Robbie's looking quite sickened and troubled. But to be fair they were massive needles."

The show will be broadcast on March 26.'

ilikemusic.com Review Intensive Care

Quoted from: http://www.ilikemusic.com/

' "I'm a huge fan of 'The Lilac Time,' so I thought I'd spend a couple of days writing some folk songs with Stephen Duffy, just for a change.' (Robbie Williams)

Two years of continuous writing and recording later, Robbie Williams returns with 'INTENSIVE CARE', his eighth album which is OUT NOW -released on Monday 24th October 2005.

'Intensive Care' was recorded in Robbie Williams' bedroom high in the Hollywood Hills and co-written with Stephen Duffy over the course of 24 months. In this time, the pair were wildly experimental, creating songs that sounded, variously, like Gang Of Four, Bloc Party and Kraftwerk, before finally settling on a style that they felt most comfortable with.

"Lyrically, this is the best album I've written," Robbie says, "although I do say that before every album comes out. But I think I mean it this time. Anyway, I'm very pleased with it, and very pleased with the way it worked out with Stephen [Duffy]. It's given me a whole new perspective on the future, as well."

Ultimately, says its author, the album is inspired, at least in part, by the Human League's classic 1984 single 'Louise', about a man who sees his former girlfriend at a bus stop and realises that he still has strong feelings for her. "

It's one of my all-time favourite tracks," he says, "and I liked the idea of writing from Louise's point of view. And so several tracks on the album, things like 'Ghosts' and 'Spread Your Wings' in particular, run along similar themes, about ex-lovers who still yearn for one another. There's a lot of pining on this record, I think."

Identifiably the work of someone taking stock of his life - see 'Ghosts', 'Make Me Pure' and the mesmerising 'Advertising Space' - 'Intensive Care' is richly melancholic and steeped in nostalgia. While recording it, Robbie would revisit the key songs of his youth - everything from Oran Juice Jones' 'The Rain' to Prefab Sprout's 'When Love Breaks Down'.

"When I think about school and hear some of the songs from the 80s, it breaks my heart, it really does," he says. "But I think I might have finally purged myself of that, it might finally be out of my system, which is probably a good thing. But it's definitely been an influence in the making of this album. I wanted to write the kind of songs that could break somebody else's heart in 15, 20 years, and give them the same sense of nostalgia as my favourite songs gave me."

ut the mood isn't uniformly melancholic here. The first single, 'Tripping' (to be released Monday 3rd October 2005), is Robbie's attempt at a 'mini gangster opera', all cocksure strut and disarming falsetto, while 'A Place To Crash' out-swaggers the Rolling Stones in pursuit of rock'n roll hedonism.

For the first time, Robbie Williams will be launching his album with a live show outside of the UK. The concert will take place in the heart of Europe at Velodrom, Berlin on October 9th. The show is a one off, never to be repeated special which will be filmed for the first ever Europe wide cinecast in high definition and surround sound, with TV broadcasts to follow.

The film of this show is the latest in a series of extraordinary spectaculars, starting with ‘Live At Slane Castle’, followed by 'Live At Manchester', 'Live at The Albert' and finally and not least of all 'Live at Knebworth'. Tickets for the Velodrom go on sale on September 5th and tickets for the cinecast go on sale on September 9th.

TRACK BY TRACK

Ghosts - Throughout the recording of 'Intensive Care', Robbie was revisiting a lot of his favourite songs from the 1980s, particularly the Human League's 'Louise', about a man who sees a former lover at the bus stop and realises he still has deep feelings for her. With 'Ghosts', Robbie wanted to write Louise's response, and so this freewheeling melody is drenched in lost-love pinings and the very sweetest melancholy. The vocal harmonies in the chorus, meanwhile, which are almost hymnal, enhance its emotional clout exponentially.

Tripping - Erroneously described in the press as Robbie Williams' reggae song, 'Tripping's' rolling rhythm actually owes a greater debt to the early work of The Clash. "It's something like a mini gangster opera," Robbie says, "Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch combined." The chorus features a tight-trousered falsetto that climbs the scales like a fireman climbs a ladder, and almost touches disco on its lofty ascent. The first single to be lifted from 'Intensive Care' and, alongside 2004's 'Radio', one of his more idiosyncratic creations.

Make Me Pure - 'Make Me Pure', as Robbie will tell you and producer Stephen Duffy will confirm, is a song without a chorus, "just six or seven verses, and a bit at the end." This is the singer in conversation with himself, a 31 year-old man off the drink and drugs but wanting, nevertheless, to push the barriers of his newly-found sobriety, and to still have occasional illicit fun. "It's also about turning 30 and realising that there is still a big void in my life," he says. "And that's a woman, a partner, a wife." Heartache clearly suits him, for this fabulous song.

Spread Your Wings - 'Spread Your Wings', a lyrical sister to the opening 'Ghosts', finds Robbie in nostalgic mood once more, returning, in spirit, to his native Stoke-on-Trent and a girlfriend of old. Celebrating the 1980s, it name checks the long-forgotten Oran Juice Jones and Jocelyn Brown, and suggests that we shouldn't "let the dreams out of your head". His motivation for this one? "I want to write songs that will still break peoples' hearts in 20 years time," he says. "And I hope, and reckon, this one will do just that."

Advertising Space - Perhaps the most conclusive confirmation that the pairing of Robbie Williams and Stephen Duffy was a wise one, 'Advertising Space' possesses wraparound majesty, and is almost profoundly cinematic. "This is my 'True Romance' song," he says, "the one where, like Christian Slater in the film, I like to believe I have direct access to Elvis Presley every now and then." Elegiac and mournful, it describes a superstar's tragic fall from grace. Robbie jokingly describes it as his own 'Candle In The Wind'. It's not, of course. It's less cheesy by a full Edam, for starters.

Please Don't Die - "I would never presume to know how it feels to lose a loved one," Robbie says, but 'Please Don't Die', by far the most poignant moment on the album, concerns a family member who died of cancer last year. An intimately personal lyric about love, memory and honour, this features the flipside of Robbie Williams, one a million miles away from the persona who sang 'Rock DJ'. "Look around, there's no one here to love me, hold me," he sings in a very quiet and very tender voice.

Your Gay Friend - Starting with a jubilant "whoo hoo", 'Your Gay Friend' is Intensive Care's most frivolous moment, and also its most mischievous. "I'll be your gay friend/Cos your marriage never ends/so we fuck and fight again," he sings. Its author declines to say who the song's subject is about - "the less said about that the better". Its Lucozade spritz is as infectious as its lyrical content is potentially contentious.

Sin Sin Sin - One of the first efforts Robbie wrote with his new songwriting partner Stephen Duffy, 'Sin Sin Sin', with its metronomic beat, is an engagingly hypnotic song about a dirty old man who craves a shag. "Basically," Robbie grins, "it's about the kind of bloke I will turn into myself one day." Despite its sly content, this features his most mannered vocal to date, reminiscent of Pet Shop Boys' Neil Tennant, but with even finer annunciation. His mother would be proud; Stephen Duffy already is. "As soon as we'd completed this track," Duffy says, "I thought we might just have a future together."

Random Acts Of Kindness - 'Random Acts' is a song about magic. In the two years Robbie worked on 'Intensive Care', he also found the time to develop an interest in magic and the occult, studying the published works of occultist Aleister Crowley and dabbling in spells of his own. He likes to describe this particular song as "mystical and magical", one made for the inner Gandalf in us all. "I am just a simple man with simple expectations," he sings, perhaps somewhat disingenuously.

The Trouble With Me - It is, by now, common knowledge that few people write self-lacerating songs with the unflinching eloquence of Robbie Williams, and 'The Trouble With Me' is one of his very best. Written by a man of maturity now desperate to find the woman of his dreams, he begins it thus: "You see the trouble with me/I've got a head full of fuck/I'm a basket case/I don't think I can love." Stephen Duffy, the album's producer, points to these lyrics - which, like all of Robbie's lyrics, come straight off the top of his head with the minimum of architecture - as confirmation of his genius wordplay.

A Place To Crash - 'A Place To Crash', Robbie says with no little pride, is the only Rolling Stones riff Keith Richards has yet to write, and so Stephen Duffy wrote it instead. Cocksure, robust and possessed of a swagger that suggests it was born in leather trousers, this brash anthem is undoubtedly a future live favourite, its "AH YEAHs!" tailor-made for a full stadium singalong. After one minute and 29 seconds, Robbie shouts "GUITAR!" He's not done that before.

King of Bloke And Bird - The final song on 'Intensive Care' is also the most maudlin, a profoundly affecting acoustic paean to the futility of searching for love, Robbie casting himself here as disaffected and dejected. Its poignancy is, at times, unbearable, its lip tremors genuinely affecting. At the time of writing, Robbie reckons he won't be playing this song live as it is simply "too painful". But catch him on another day, and he is much more positive about it. "This is me trying to imitate Neil Young but sounding, instead, like Kermit the Frog," he says. Miss Piggy should be so lucky... Tripping star will live in luxury Winnebago on tour
Kiki King, Eva Simpson & Caroline Hedley
THERE'LL be no limo to whisk him to a five-star hotel after Robbie's sellout gigs this summer - but don't worry, he won't be slumming it.
The Tripping superstar will dash off stage straight into the back of a £220,000 customised Winnebago, where he can put his feet up and bust out a packet of M&Ms.
The 32-year-old, who broke records by selling 1.6million tickets for his European and South African shows in just 24 hours, will lord it in a 19-metre mobile home so luxurious it'll put the Ritz- Carlton to shame.
Described by our caravan expert as a "five-star hotel suite on wheels", we're told: "It's very impressive. He has his own bedroom complete with a kingsize bed and an en-suite bathroom with marble sink, bath and shower."
When the Robster retires from his gruelling stage show, he'll unwind in a sitting room lined with Italian leather sofas. He can then knock up dinner in his fully-fitted kitchen or, er, put on a load in the washer/dryer.
Obviously the boy doesn't trust just anyone with his smalls...
And should he feel a little lonely, he can blast out Take That's greatest hits on a top-of-the-range stereo system with Bose speakers or catch a movie on his top-of-the-range home cinema system with 40-in plasma TV.
But despite kitting out his palatial pad with thousands of pounds of boys' toys, Rob's staying in touch with his feminine side.
Our source goes on: "There are scented Jo Malone candles throughout. He'll be putting his all into the tour and wants to turn this Winnebago into a real retreat where he can get some time to himself.
"He's done his time in grotty tour busses and with more than £70million in the bank he reckons he deserves to travel in style."
But it's not just himself that Rob likes to spend money on. The Stoke-born star has offered intensive care to his beloved footie team Port Vale, investing £150,000 in the cash-strapped club.
He said: "My heart strings have definitely been pulled hearing about Port Vale's problems. I've been a Port Vale fan all my life".
Ah, you can take the boy out of the Potteries. Maybe he could park up next to the pitch one match day... '
